Chapter 13 - Mercenary Island - Part 5

Manya's movement were new to even herself. Each of her movements and attacks were precise and sharp. In a part of her brain, she couldn't believe her sight, but her hatred for angels was greater than all the factors combined. I am all yours! She surrendered to the intuition of mysterious energy. The mercenaries were terrified when they watched her tearing apart anyone she touched.

While freeing the mercenaries from their forced life, a golden smoke shimmered around her fist—peeking through the SL layer around her. The moment she landed her next punch, its powerful impact formed a grin on her, but also disintegrated the black SL particles, which fell on the ground sooner. However, moments later, the same particles reattached to her skin as if attracted by an unseen power.

Dust and bodies were pulled into a tornado in the middle of the island—larger than expected. A circular disaster with vines, comprising air, water and blood. Defeating all airborne enemy forces. SL prevented her from being swept up in the destruction she had started. She descended towards the land using a malfunctioning helicopter.

"Yash, how many humans are being enslaved on this island?"

'See that bunch approaching you? That's the last breathing batch, headed towards their demise.'

She leapt onto a rectangular container that was floating towards an opening at the edge of a mountain, carrying survivors who had been exposed to torture. Their eyes fixated on her, yet there was no sign of hope or longing for freedom reflected in their gaze.

"Yash!"

'What now?'

"Zap it up!"

'You are going way over the limit of my interference!'

"You told me that there's no victim left alive except these. Why can't we destroy the entire island?"

'I can't! It would require an electromagnetic substance with certain properties that can momentarily disrupt the natural flow of electrical discharges within thunderclouds, and this C10 isn't capable of performing such a stunt. How did you gain such an old version?'

"Is there no other way?"

'Technology on this island is trash. It can't even survive this tornado, unless.'

"Unless what?"

'Forget it, it's not possible and even if it would be, I won't allow it.'

"Just say it!" Manya targeted the core of the container beneath, causing it to malfunction and open. Hope ignited in the eyes of victims, paired with subtle but joyful smiles. In an instant, they sprinted towards the edge of the cliff. "No!!" Each of them jumped off the cliff. She caught a brief glimpse of tears of joy streaming down their faces before they disappeared beneath the ocean's surface.

"Yash, this instance! Tell me the way to destroy this place!"

'You are currently wrapped in the only substance capable of handling the thunder.'

Casting a glance, she observed the black soul layer that had guarded her against many attacks and preventing her from sweeping away in the tornado. "Take it. Take it all!"

'I won't, and I can't. Being attached to the user, my power of interference over the SL has been restricted. Now it's permanently attached to you.'

"You will, and it's not." Manya closed her eyes. Inhaling deeply, she sensed an intense orb of energy in her heart flowing through her veins. At the peak, she exhaled it, sending a stronger surge into her limbs. Opening her eyes, each SL particle was floating inches from her skin and a faint golden hue between them. "Now!"

'How? No, you'll die!'

"Please Yash."

'Stay where you are. I'll be right back!'

As commanded, he called back every SL particle. They ascended towards the tornado, emitting a slight golden discharge. Because of Yash's interruption and the discovery of a powerful substance, helicopters and ariots fell.

'These are amazing! I have never seen such properties. I would travel the entire topmost cosmos if I have to find its inventor.'

She walked over to the cliff and prayed for the deceased. Next moment, a crackling sound of electricity disrupted her. She sensed the armed mercenaries running towards her. With determination, she charged straight at the mercenaries. Moments before their demise, tears streamed down their cheeks, revealing a profound peace within their eyes. Just eyes.

Yash was giving his all to create an impossible phenomenon that was expanding at an alarming rate. A thunder tornado had engulfed the middle of the island, leading to cracks spreading around.

At the mountain's edge, Manya stood beside the swarm of dead mercenaries. "At least they get freedom from the chaos," she whispered. Witnessing the slaves leap off the cliff made her question her own desire to die. She gazed up at the sky. Krishna. Don't let me die! Yet. At least not before I end those angels! Her eyes widened. Except Ira!

'You should see it from up here. It's. Amazing!'

"The motto of my life, to make you happy."

A piercing scream of pain startled Manya. "Kill me!! Please! Take me from this hell!" A woman, a victim, crawling towards the tornado despite her half-destroyed legs. "Please. God!"

Manya rushed towards her. The woman glanced at her and started throwing stones at her. Manya couldn't divert her attention from the woman's wounds.

"You'll be fine; I'll take you to hospital; they'll treat you," Manya said.

The woman froze, tears streamed down her trembling face. Like a child eager for a candy store, she pointed at the tornado and insisted on going there.

"No, I will take you to the hospital," Manya said.

"No!!" the woman said. "Take me. There!"

Her answer left Manya puzzled. "Yash, why's her lips not matching the words?"

'She's speaking Japanese.'

"Tell her I'll take her to the hospital." A voice emerged from her earpieces, expressing Manya's emotions in Japanese. However, the woman was filled with a strong desire for death. Again, the woman started crawling towards the tornado.

'Her vitals have crossed the critical. Even if I stop everything and carry her, she won't survive.'

"No, there should be another way!"

'Unfortunately, there isn't.'

"No!"

"Please help me, my last wish. Please," the woman said and pointed at the tornado.

"But… I."

Manya cleaned the blood off the woman's face and lifted her into arms. Seeing pure joy on the woman's face, a warmth spread through Manya's chest, but beneath—a familiar ache threatened to surface. She blinked rapidly, her eyelashes brushing against the moisture gathering in her eyes. With a deep breath, she pressed her lips together and marched forward.

'Where are you going? Stop! It will kill you with her!'

The woman's body started contracting with each step closer to the electrical tornado. Manya remained unaffected, her skin showing little to no reaction. With a warm gaze, the woman directed her attention towards Manya. Her eyes overflowing with joy, she raised her trembling arm, brushing her fingertips gently against Manya's cheeks and greeted her with the sweetest smile.

"A-Arigato," the woman said her last words.

'Stop!'

The tornado pulled the woman into its grasp, followed by Manya. An excessive amount of electricity started burning her skin. The sound of mercenaries filled the air, their laughter and screams echoing around. Red moisture brushed past her. Blood?

Up in the sky. There was a circular formation made of SL particles paired with her golden spark and hue of blood. A huge lightning bolt headed straight for her, not hitting directly, but setting off a series of smaller bolts within the tornado. She clenched the diamond pendant hanging from a delicate silver chain around her neck and pressed her lips against it. "I am coming." Her lips curved into a smile. "And for you mamu." She spread her arms. "Your niece is dying like a champion."

She closed her eyes."I never thought I would be fortunate enough to encounter someone as incredible as you." Tears flooded down her eyes. "I want to marry you, but I don't know if I am strong enough to protect you. I. I love you, Manya."

"I love you, Dhruv."

'Manya!'
