Chapter 20 - Taking back the arcade

Liu Xiaoxiao

"Brother Fei, hurry up and go!"

Two young men with yellow hair helped Li Fei onto a motorcycle, and they sped away in a hurry.

"It's alright now!"

Chen Jianghe watched the motorcycle disappear, then turned to Liu Wen and said, "If anyone causes trouble again, call the Lie Huo Game Hall, and I'll bring people over!"

"You don't need to worry about my business; you should take care of your own first. Li Fei is Lai San's subordinate from North Street. Since you hit him, Lai San won't let it go!"

Liu Wen frowned and didn't open the door, speaking through the barred gate.

"We're not afraid of trouble when we're out in the streets; if we were, we wouldn't be out here. Dapeng, let's go!" Chen Jianghe smiled faintly, turned, and got into the minivan.

"Aunt Liu, don't worry, Jianghe definitely has a plan!"

Zhang Peng quickly said, then hurried to get in the car.

"Sigh!"

After the minivan left, Liu Wen looked in the direction it had disappeared and sighed. Although she was a doctor and knew many influential figures in Pingjiang District, as an orphaned mother, it was inevitable that some people would take advantage.

"Mom, who was that just now? He was so amazing!"

Liu Xiaoxiao ran downstairs in her pajamas, asking excitedly.

She had been hiding upstairs, witnessing everything that happened downstairs. That Li Fei was usually very arrogant; he often extorted students outside their school and even got several female students who followed them pregnant.

No one in the school dared to provoke him, but she never expected him to be beaten so badly today.

"Why are you asking about him? Go to bed, you have school tomorrow. You better study hard and don't associate with those hooligans!" Liu Wen glared at her fiercely. Liu Xiaoxiao pouted and went upstairs unhappily.

Liu Wen looked at her, feeling even more of a headache.

A son grows up and isn't controlled by his mother; a daughter is the same. If her precious daughter were to be led astray by some yellow-haired punk, she would have a lot to cry about.

"Jianghe, where are we going now?"

In the minivan, Zhang Peng's face showed worry.

"To the game hall. Tomorrow, we'll change the Lie Huo sign back, and the day after tomorrow, we'll reopen!"

Chen Jianghe drove straight to the game hall.

During the three years he was inside, Li Jindi had changed the Lie Huo Game Hall to Yonggui Game Hall. Now, he wanted to reopen the Lie Huo Game Hall.

"Jianghe, you were too impulsive just now. Lai San is a big shot in North Street, after all. We only managed to deal with Li Jindi by cooperating with Chen Gang. Now we haven't even established ourselves and we've offended Lai San again. He will definitely cause us trouble!"

Zhang Peng said, full of concern.

"When the pond is shallow, there are many turtles, and big brothers are everywhere. If we're afraid of this and that, then there's no point in being out here!" Chen Jianghe sneered, not hiding anything from Zhang Peng. "I helped Liu Wen just now for two reasons. One, I wanted to do her a favor. When we're out in the streets, we're bound to get hurt, and having a familiar doctor is only good, not bad!"

"Secondly, Lai San hit you. I must help you get revenge for that!"

"And one more thing, my dad has been dead for three years. Do you think, with just the two of us, suddenly occupying such a large game hall on North Street, with thousands of yuan in daily revenue, others wouldn't be envious?"

"If we don't establish our authority, how can we gain a foothold in North Street?"

With Li Jindi's mysterious disappearance, and then dealing with Lai San, the big brothers of North Streetwould then consider Chen Jianghe a force to be reckoned with and weigh the consequences of going against him.

In this society, if you don't make a name for yourself, who will know you? Who will take you seriously?

"But Lai San has been in North Street for so long; he's not easy to mess with!"

Zhang Peng was still somewhat worried.

Although they had dealt with Li Jindi, they had too few people. The only truly reliable ones were him and Chen Jianghe. He now somewhat understood why Chen Jianghe was willing to keep Zhang Qiang and Zhou Bing.

When you're out in the streets, not having people under you truly won't work.

"If he's not easy to mess with, then I, Chen Jianghe, am also not easy to mess with!"

Rootless drifters, street punks—can they rise up without fighting for it?

Crash!

Chen Jianghe drove to the game hall, opened the rolling shutter door with the key he got from Li Jindi, and rows of arcade machines appeared before their eyes.

The ground floor had nearly a hundred arcade machines.

Upstairs, on the second floor, there were also twenty to thirty slot machines hidden, which were the real money-makers.

"Jianghe, you finally got the game hall back!"

Looking at these arcade machines, Zhang Peng was very excited.

"Don't get too excited, this game hall is just the beginning!"

Chen Jianghe patted Zhang Peng's shoulder, went straight upstairs, opened Li Jindi's office, and found a safe in the corner of the office.

The safe key was hidden under the desk drawer.

Chen Jianghe opened the safe, which still contained tens of thousands of yuan, about fifty to sixty thousand, and the rest were some game hall documents, files, ledgers, and the like.

He found a briefcase and put all fifty thousand yuan inside.

This game hall was currently under Shao Wan's name. He needed to find someone to handle the paperwork and transfer the game hall to his name. This wasn't difficult to do, as long as he could find someone capable.

In this era, money was more effective than anything else; there was almost nothing that money couldn't accomplish.

Those who dared to take money also dared to get things done.

"Dapeng, tomorrow, find someone to change the game hall's sign back, prepare some activities, and the day after tomorrow, the game hall will reopen!"

Chen Jianghe took some more money and gave it to Zhang Peng. "When the game hall opens, you sit at the entrance, collect money, and distribute tokens. Hold down the fort for a few days, and then we'll talk about hiring more people!"

The game hall still needed to hire new staff. With the current few people, even when Zhang Qiang and Zhou Bing arrived tomorrow, there wouldn't be enough.

"I have money, no need to give me more!"

Zhang Peng quickly pushed the money back.

"That twenty thousand is your money. For game hall matters, use the game hall's money. Take it!" Chen Jianghe said without question, stuffing the money into Zhang Peng's hand.

Afterward, Chen Jianghe walked around the game hall, his eyes glinting. His career would begin here.

The path his father, Chen Zhiming, hadn't finished, he, Chen Jianghe, would forge into a grand avenue.

"Ding-a-ling!"

Early the next morning, the ringing of a landline phone woke Chen Jianghe. He lay on the boss's chair, groggily opening his eyes, and casually picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Old Li, it's Lai San. I have something to discuss with you. I heard Chen Zhiming's son is back. What are your thoughts?"

On the phone, a middle-aged man's voice came through.

"Heh heh, Li Jindi went back to his hometown. He has no thoughts!"

Chen Jianghe chuckled, his face filled with a cold sneer.

"Where the hell did you come from? Let Li Jindianswer the phone!"

Lai San immediately became impatient, thinking it was Li Jindi's subordinate playing a joke on him.

"Can't you understand human language? Li Jindi quit; now the game hall belongs to me!"

Chen Jianghe cursed without ceremony.

"Who the hell are you?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, as if digesting the news of Li Jindi's disappearance. After a while, Lai San finally asked.

"Chen Jianghe!"
