Chapter 21 - Another guess

The Ten Commandments Gang's sphere of influence.

After turning off the screen, the Mandarin wore a satisfied smile!

"Shang-Chi! Do you think you can escape my pursuit by indulging in a life of debauchery and revelry just by siding with those Western scum?"

"I will never forget this, and I believe you won't either! Now you can witness just how valuable you really are! Do you think you are worth as much as Tony Stark?"

"This time, I'm going to take your life! It's time to settle our score. Since you don't dare to come out of the Western world on your own, you've given me no chance to make a move against you."

"Then I'll have S.H.I.E.L.D. hand you over voluntarily, and we'll achieve the same goal!"

The Mandarin's eyes were bloodshot and filled with rage.

"If you dared to betray me, you should have thought about your current situation! But you probably never imagined that you would be betrayed by those well-dressed Western bastards, did you? They only accepted you to set an example."

"Compared to Tony Stark, you're worthless! They'll feel perfectly justified in selling you for a good price! I really want to see your expression then; it'll be quite a sight!"

The Mandarin was talking to himself.

His men all kept their heads down, not daring to move.

Any of the more senior members of the Ten Rings knew the relationship between their leader and the traitor Shang-Chi.

If they dare to jump out and show off while the Mandarin is talking to himself, there's a 90% chance he'll slap them to death, and the remaining 10% chance is that they'll be thrown into prison and slowly tortured to death!

After a long while, the Mandarin regained his composure and gave the order:

"Tell the men below to find Tony Stark at all costs!"

"I'm giving you one week. If you find it, there's a reward; if you don't..."

"The head of the Ahan region, do you know what the punishment is?"

Among the group below, a burly figure instantly broke out in a cold sweat. He knelt on one knee and loudly declared that he would definitely find Tony Stark and not disappoint the Mandarin!

The Ten Commandments Gang has a vast sphere of influence, with a diverse mix of people from all walks of life, and not everyone is under their command.

The Mandarin guessed that the attack on Tony Stark's convoy was likely carried out by one of the smaller factions.

As for which faction it was, the Mandarin had no interest in knowing.

All he needs is Tony Stark!

Or rather...

All he wanted was Shang-Chi's life!

...

...

S.H.I.E.L.D.

The atmosphere was somewhat tense.

The Mandarin at the Ten Commandments' place was acting so wildly and gleefully.

So how conflicted and helpless must Nick Fury be right now!

"Chief...are we handing over Shang-Chi?"

There was no one around; besides Nick Fury, the only other person present was Agent Hill, one of Nick Fury's trusted lieutenants.

That's why Agent Hill asked so directly.

Whether or not to pay Shang Chi, that is the question.

Shang-Chi was a traitor to the Ten Rings and had a close relationship with the Mandarin. After betraying the Ten Rings, he defected to the West and became a role model.

Many media outlets have written extensively about him, calling him a hero who "abandoned darkness and embraced the light."

However, S.H.I.E.L.D., as an organization that knows everything, is well aware of Shang-Chi's background.

He's no good.

Like the Mandarin, being shot for ten minutes wouldn't be a problem.

But that scoundrel has already been portrayed by the media as a role model of turning over a new leaf, so if we sell him to the Mandarin…

Agent Hill looked worried:

"Those media outlets that thrive on chaos and whose newspapers aren't selling well are paying close attention to Shang-Chi. If something happens, it will be hard to keep it a secret!"

Agent Hill was very concerned about the media's reaction.

As for Shang-Chi? Agent Hill said that selling him was no big deal. Trading someone like him for Tony Stark was definitely a win-win situation!

Nick Fury remained calm, still considering the gravity of the situation.

As the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he cannot afford to make any mistakes.

After a long while, he looked up at Agent Hill:

"In your name, please discuss some matters with Mr. Shang-Chi."

Using a private name, rather than the name of S.H.I.E.L.D., clearly indicates an intention to distance themselves from the outset.

Agent Hill nodded, understanding the situation. The priority was to control Shang-Chi first, and regardless of how things developed, to secure a bargaining chip to deal with the Mandarin.

Then, Nick Fury frowned and asked another question:

"After my conversation with the Mandarin, there was something I kept to myself and it has been a question I've always had."

"In the area where Tony was kidnapped, only the Ten Rings are most likely to make a move. Other forces don't even know the route of Tony's convoy!"

"But Tony was still attacked. If it wasn't the Ten Commandments who did it, then who was it!"

"Hill, where do you think things went wrong?"

Agent Hill understood Nick Fury's hidden meaning:

"Chief, do you suspect there's a mole who leaked Tony's whereabouts?"

Nick Fury didn't answer directly, but after a moment's thought, he said:

"Go and deal with Shang-Chi's situation first."

"There might be a mole within the organization. I've asked Coulson to investigate."

Nick Fury made this ruling.

At the same time, he vaguely recalled some incidents that had been discovered within Stark Industries some time ago.
