Chapter 9 - The Visit

It was barely noon when chaos arrived at Lian Corporation's glass doors.

The lobby, once quiet, turned tense as two familiar figures walked in—Wei Jun and Lin Xinya.

The bodyguards moved at once, blocking them, but Wei Jun raised his voice.

"I'm here to see Lian Yue. Tell her Wei Jun has something to say."

The guards exchanged looks but stayed firm—until Yue's assistant ran up, whispering, "President Lian said no visitors."

Wei Jun ignored that. "She'll see me."

Inside the Office

Lian Yue's pen stopped mid-signature as the door swung open.

She didn't even look up. "I believe I said no interruptions."

Wei Jun smirked, stepping forward. "You did. But I don't listen to orders I don't respect."

Finally, she raised her eyes—calm, unreadable. "Then I suppose I should thank you for reminding me why I chose Rian Zhao."

His expression darkened, but Lin Xinya forced a bright smile, stepping closer.

"Miss Lian," she said sweetly, "Jun still cares about you. It's not too late, you know? People make mistakes… maybe you—"

Lian Yue slowly rose from her seat, the sound of her heels echoing against the marble floor.

She met Lin Xinya's hand halfway—then gently pushed it off. "Don't touch me."

The sudden movement made Xinya stumble backward, pretending to lose her balance.

Her eyes glistened with fake tears as she gasped, "She—she pushed me!"

Wei Jun immediately bent to help her, glaring up at Yue. "You've gone too far!"

He grabbed Lin Xinya's wrist, helping her stand, then turned, his anger rising. "Do you enjoy humiliating people, Yue? You used to have a heart!"

She tilted her head, expression cold. "No, Wei Jun. I used to have patience."

Wei Jun took a step forward, his voice breaking. "I still like you! I—"

"Enough." Her tone sliced through the room like glass. "You liked the power that came with me, not me."

For a moment, silence hung thick between them. Wei Jun's hand twitched—as if he might strike her.

---

The Door Opened.

"Try it," said a calm, low voice from behind.

Everyone froze.

Rian Zhao stood at the doorway, his black suit sharp against the bright room, his gaze colder than marble.

He walked in slowly, every step measured, his presence filling the space.

When Wei Jun finally turned, Rian caught his raised wrist before it could move any closer.

His grip was unshakable. "How dare you touch my fiancée?"

Wei Jun's jaw tightened. "She's using you."

Rian's eyes narrowed, his tone almost amused. "Then let her. She still prefers me to a man who can't control his temper."

Lin Xinya gasped softly, but Rian didn't spare her a glance.

He looked straight into Wei Jun's eyes. "Next time you want to act brave, pick a street corner, not my woman's office."

Then he released Wei Jun's wrist with a push. Wei Jun stumbled back a step, humiliated.

Lian Yue stood quietly behind Rian, a faint smile on her lips—calm, untouchable, exactly as she'd planned.

Rian turned to her, his voice low but clear. "You shouldn't let stray dogs walk in here again."

Her lips curved slightly. "Don't worry. I already called security."

Right on cue, two guards entered, escorting Wei Jun and Lin Xinya out.

Lin Xinya kept glancing back, eyes teary, whispering Wei Jun's name, but he said nothing.

When the doors shut behind them, silence returned.

Aftermath

Rian finally looked back at her. "You planned this, didn't you?"

Yue smiled faintly, sitting down again. "I don't plan. I anticipate."

He chuckled quietly. "You're dangerous."

"Only when necessary."

Rian leaned forward slightly, eyes lingering on her. "Then remind me never to become your enemy."

She met his gaze without flinching. "Too late. You already are."
