Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

The long awaited day had arrived, well for the Nasir family perhaps but definitely not for Renata. Divya helped her to get ready for the evening engagement, that will be taking place. Everywhere was bustling in the residence.

Dorian had came over earlier on, to make sure she was presentable. She left after a few remarks and a look of displeasure, with her little shadow tailing her as usual. A tale as old as time truly.

Divya had asked her earlier if she wished to look at the books they had borrowed but truthfully, she was not in a mood to worry about searching about ways to cultivate her spiritual energy or unlocking more veins if possible.

She was slightly panicked and she felt like she was a flight risk, ready to run away if possible. In this new world where spiritual beast and airships were readily accessible she was ready to runaway in one of them but like most things in this world, if she had no money or spiritual energy. It was not truly accessible.

Another pity party was happening in her head, she was a pitiful sight to see. She slightly remembered reading transmigration novels in her past life, it had been a genre that she had found herself drawn to as it became a great escape from her reality at that time. Even though the characters would end up trying to divorce a husband who later on fell in love with her, those characters seemed to adapt quickly to their situation or maybe it was because originally that was not their life like it is for her.

In truth she did transmigrated, it would be more accurate to call this world a parallel of her previous life with meat of it being similar but the outer layers being different. It depended on her, whether she wanted to stay in one place or keep moving forward even if she is not sure about the direction as of yet.

At that moment she only had a half baked plan, with no true direction and except knowing her freedom lay with her veins and her being away her family. She also had to consider whether helping them or saving them as the system said was worth it, after all the damn thing did abandon her the very moment she was reborn. Her rebirth is a strange matter on its own, she had always believed in the possibility of reincarnation but never did she think it would be her reality 200 years later.

After all, she thought it was an immediate thing not 200 something matter with memories attached to it. Never mind the strange world of cultivation and different but yet same circumstances.

After Divya was done helping her, they went to the dining hall. Everywhere was decorated beautifully, with bright colours and lights along the way. As you approached the dining hall you could hear the sound of music and on going conversations, when it was time for Renata to enter she was met by her father who stood by the door along with her stepmother and little sister.

Based on what people in the residence typically wore on a daily basis it usually felt uniformed, today was different people were dressed in modern take of western ball gowns. On a normal day, people looked like something out of a sci-fi and dystopian movie. The fashion in this world had a weird blend of futuristic, modern(2022), old and with some different cultural references depending on the clan.

Renata greeted her 'family', while Divya continued follow behind her. Raanan Nasir's eyes flickered towards Divya briefly before entering the doorway along with his family, a lot was weighing on his mind. He hoped that his daughter would be settled in her new family, he knew the rumours regarding his treatment towards her. At times he also wondered whether he was biased as they said.

The hall was vibrant in colour and everyone was mingling with one another, the Rhode family had yet to arrive. Renata secretly hoped Killian had changed his mind about the engagement, no one would question him if he objected not to get married to her. They would be in full support and even try to arrange for her little sister to marry him. Renata wondered how the little shadow would take such an arrangement, she wanted to laugh again simply from that thought.

"You look happy." Renata was suddenly pulled from her thoughts, Dorian once again was looking at her in disdain. This villain of her story could never hide her hatred, this used to bother her but now she appreciates it. After all a devil you know is better than a devil you don't know. As for her words, Renata could not describe herself as happy in that moment but anyway she was not about to correct her.

Dorian obviously did not care whether she was happy or not, she simply disliked the girl. The eldest daughter of the Nasir family, it was a good thing she was born worthless and her daughter could securely be considered an heir but as long as this girl lived with them. She would always be uncomfortable, she had once heard a seer had read her future positively and that as long as she passes her calamity her hope of becoming successful would increase significantly but if she could not pass her calamity she would die.

Of course Dorian hoped Renata would not pass whatever calamity, they were referring to and rather she meets her demise sooner rather than later. It would make her much more at peace, she did not understand why her husband still cared for that little brat.

As the main family, they were formally greeted by the guests who were ever so eager to please. In terms of ranking the Nasir family were ranked number 11, they had a lot of potential on becoming a gold ranked family but Raanan knew his family had started to corrode internally and if the root cause was not removed the family would face a steep decline.

He had hoped to save his daughter first before he could focus at the matter at hand. Once again he hoped she had at least been mediocre.
