Chapter 61: Put the Blame on Others
Pandora despised Linlin. After all, she was the one who had killed the nun he cherished so deeply.
But because of Roy, he endured.
Yet now, he felt something strange emanating from Linlin—a familiar, haunting sensation.
It was the lingering influence of her Soul-Soul Fruit, perhaps even the nun's soul itself, trapped and devoured within her body.
Pandora's eyes narrowed as he looked at the floating cloud behind Linlin. "Hey, you… what's your name?"
Linlin stopped mid-sentence, annoyed at first. But when she realized it was Pandora—Roy's companion—her irritation faded.
Once upon a time, she had envied that little sun Homie the nun gave Roy. But now, she sensed something else… perhaps she could even control Pandora.
"Hm?" Pandora's eyes grew cold as he felt a strange pull toward her.
"I'm sorry, Brother Roy," Linlin said quickly, lowering her head. "I don't know what happened. It just felt like… I could control him. I really didn't mean to."
Pandora floated behind Roy, visibly unsettled.
"I see…" Roy said calmly, glancing between Linlin and Pandora. Pieces of an unseen puzzle began to fit together in his mind.
"It's nothing," he said, waving off the tension.
Linlin brightened. "Then let me offer Brother Roy a gift to show my sincerity!"
She raised both hands, and a bright light began to gather in her palms—the glow of souls.
Zeus, hovering nearby, flinched in fear as Linlin's power surged skyward. The soul-light shot into the clouds, and thunder rumbled across the heavens.
"Brother Roy, this is my gift to you!" Linlin declared.
Dark clouds swirled and condensed, forming a large white thundercloud. Lightning danced across its surface as it drifted down toward the deck.
The newborn Homie blinked in confusion, looking first at Linlin, then at Roy.
Mom calls him Brother… does that make him Uncle?
"Brother Roy, please name it," Linlin said cheerfully. "This is a high-level Homie I created from another soul—it's very powerful."
She tossed the confused thundercloud into Roy's arms. Sparks crackled softly against his skin, but he didn't flinch.
Zeus sulked nearby, glaring at the newcomer. So I've been replaced already…?
The newborn thundercloud trembled as Roy pinched its cloudy face, wondering why this "Uncle" wasn't afraid of lightning at all.
He must really be family, it thought innocently.
Streusen approached, forcing a smile. "It's good to see such unity. Together, we can rule the New World and build a nation where all races live in harmony!"
"Linlin, I need to speak with you," Roy said, ignoring him completely. "As for this dwarf, could you please send him away?"
"Brother said you're a dwarf. Go away," Linlin said bluntly, shoving Streusen aside.
He hit the deck face-first, fuming silently. After everything I've done for her… she still listens to that boy!?
"Why are you still here?" Linlin snapped, glaring down at him. Then, turning back to Roy, her face softened into a goofy grin as she placed her hands on her knees.
Roy sighed inwardly. If she didn't lose control so easily, she might actually be teachable.
But reality was harsh—if Linlin went berserk, he couldn't stop her. If that happened again, his wives—or even his life—could be in danger.
Whether she was truly out of control or simply pretending to be, the result was the same.
Roy couldn't afford to take chances.
Streusen glared at him one last time before returning to Linlin's ship. Roy's indifferent gaze followed him until he disappeared.
"Linlin, come with me," Roy said quietly. "We need to talk."
"Oh~" Linlin nodded, then pointed curiously at Toki. "Who's that?"
"My most important person," Roy replied without hesitation.
Toki smiled politely at the little sister-like girl, while Linlin squinted, sizing her up with mild curiosity before following Roy toward the stern under the giants' wary stares.
"Linlin," Roy began, his tone heavy, "I have some bad news."
"Oh? Is it about the birthday party? I already know I messed up—hurt a few kids, ruined the party. I just need to apologize to mother and the others, right?" Linlin said innocently, sitting down beside him.
Her voice softened. "You won't abandon Linlin, will you?"
She looked at him with wide, childlike eyes. To her, Roy was the only family she had left.
Roy said nothing. The truth weighed heavily in his chest. If he hadn't copied her talent back then, he might have been one of her victims too.
Apologize? How could she apologize when the nun's soul was already part of her body?
"No," Roy said finally. "Linlin is my sister. I'll never abandon you. But there are things we need to discuss."
He gently patted her shoulder.
"Did that Streusen ever do anything to you?" Roy asked, feigning concern.
"Nothing bad," Linlin said, thinking. "He makes snacks for me, but they taste weird."
"What kind of weird?"
"They're just… bland."
"..."
Roy sighed in relief. At least that was one thing he didn't have to worry about. Though in his head, he caught himself before insulting his own wife by accident.
"That's good." He nodded. Linlin smiled happily, touched by his care.
"It's more fun than being a pirate," she giggled.
"Do you trust him?" Roy asked, pressing further.
"I used to," Linlin admitted. Then her cheerful expression darkened, her aura changing. "But not anymore."
Roy froze. The sudden shift in her tone sent chills down his spine.
"He just had murderous thoughts about my brother," Linlin said coldly. "Even if he couldn't kill you…Hahahaha!"
Her laughter rang out across the deck, low and chilling.
Roy's eyes narrowed. In the original story, Linlin never had a brother. But here, he had become that missing bond—the person she clung to as family.
Could it be… she's a full-blown brother-con?
"Linlin," Roy said carefully. "There's something I have to tell you."
He had been rehearsing this moment for days. The plan was clear—he would shift the blame, redirect her anger, and keep her under control.
"I'm ready," Linlin said, her expression suddenly serious as she noticed his heavy tone. Her eyes darkened, reflecting the first hint of storm clouds above the sea.
