Chapter 155 - Chapter 155: Is It Really Necessary to Be This Scared?

Chapter 155: Is It Really Necessary to Be This Scared?

Roy's idol is Jackie Chan.

So the way he fought, rescuing people while throwing hands at the same time, naturally took inspiration from the kind of scenes you would see in Jackie Chan movies.

Not bad.

Galette, the arrogant assassin from the original story, was unbelievably well behaved now. Who knew what was going through her head?

Roy knew.

Her face was basically on fire.

Under the crescent moon, a handsome masked man with fiery red hair carried a pink haired girl with curled locks, fought his way out of the warship, leaped, landed on the beach, then sprinted off at full speed, vanishing into the night before the Navy could even blink.

Much later, when Gion returned, she could only stare helplessly at the Marines sprawled across the deck.

Roy had still escaped with Galette. She had not made it back in time.

Gion turned her gaze toward the back of the island. Mount Colubo was dark, primitive, and far too vast. Finding a man who did not want to be found in that mountain would be a headache.

"Count the casualties," Gion ordered.

"Report. Most injuries are minor. They were knocked unconscious, and there are basically no deaths," the adjutant reported at her side.

But seeing Gion's expression, the adjutant's voice grew softer and softer.

Because the reason there were no deaths was not because the Marines were strong.

It was because Roy was merciful. He could not bring himself to seriously hurt them. He really did have that righteous, irritatingly decent temperament.

If it had been the kind of Government lackeys who killed first and laughed later, the deck would be drowning in blood by now.

Instead, these elite Headquarters troops had been outplayed by a sneaky monster who swaggered past them, broke into the prison, rescued the target, and even used a high heel to kick someone in the face.

And it was obvious Roy had been joking around.

That was what made it worse.

Roy might look "weak" in front of Garp, but Garp was a Marine hero, one of the strongest people alive.

Roy was far inferior to Garp, sure, but compared to these elites, he was in a completely different world.

"Alright, I understand." Gion waved her hand, a charming smile curling at her lips.

The stronger Roy was, the more interested she became in the man Tsuru praised so highly.

"Hmph. Do not let me catch you." Gion stared toward Mount Colubo, then made up her mind. Tomorrow, she would go into the mountains and play hide and seek with that man.

Under the cover of night, Roy carried Galette and ran through the wilderness, quickly heading toward Mount Colubo.

Galette nestled obediently in his arms.

But she could sense changes in him.

Her cheeks reddened even more.

When Roy reached the forest, he spotted the temporary shelter where Sanji and Luffy were still sleeping inside a hollowed tree. He finally breathed a sigh of relief and set her down.

"Do not, do not let go, but… do not get too close either," Galette whispered, turning her head away.

As if she knew what kind of creature he was.

And this guy…

They were really camping out in the middle of nowhere.

"Get some sleep," Roy said, pointing to the roots of a nearby tree.

Galette nodded, sat down by the roots, then carefully looked Roy over.

Her gaze drifted lower.

Cough.

Roy hurried over and sat down, then crossed his legs to hide his embarrassment.

"You should rest first," he said, voice calm. "I will keep watch tonight. Tomorrow I will take you somewhere you can properly recover."

With Hancock around, he naturally felt more restrained. Without her, it felt different.

Yes, that was normal.

And Galette's figure was, frankly, among the best in the world of One Piece.

Calling him a "devil" would not be an exaggeration.

No need to go into the details.

It was simply the kind of thing that made a man's instincts wake up and start doing pushups.

Fortunately, Roy believed his self control was strong.

But…

Galette leaned weakly against the roots, knees pressed together, head lowered against her lap, staring at him.

Like she was guarding against him, too scared to truly rest.

Roy sighed. "That makes sense. No girl would drop her guard so easily."

He understood.

"Do you know who I am?" Roy smiled at her, doing his best to look kind and gentle.

Galette shrank back, nodded, and kept her eyes fixed on him.

Roy gave a bitter smile. Was he really that terrifying?

Fine. He would not push it.

"My mother sent me to find you," Galette said softly. "I searched the East Blue for days. I almost gave up. You really are…"

"Harold Roy?"

Galette suddenly asked the name.

Roy smiled and nodded. "That is my name."

Galette nodded back, then hesitated. "Can you tell me about you and Mother? Why does she care about you so much…?"

Sometimes Galette even wondered if this man was truly the one her mother liked.

What kind of person was Roy supposed to be?

A kind old man?

Or…

Something else?

She never imagined Roy would be so young.

He was tall, but during the run back she had looked up at him more than once.

His skin was ridiculously smooth, even more delicate than hers.

It gave her the absurd feeling that he might be younger than eighteen year old Galette.

Handsome, gentle, powerful, that was her first impression.

And for some reason, she sensed something special in him.

So special it pulled her in, like he was the gentlest person she had ever met, the kind of man you could not help but feel fond of.

It was a faint goodwill, but it came from deep respect.

But mixed with him saving her, and those earlier close moments…

That faint feeling started to tilt in a dangerous direction.

As Galette spoke, she tucked her face between her knees, waiting for Roy to tell her about his past with Linlin.

She would never tell her mother she had developed even a tiny sliver of feelings for this man.

A different feeling.

Anyway, her mother had never explained their relationship clearly.

"It is nothing," Roy said, shaking his head. "Linlin and I are like sworn brother and sister."

He did not think he needed to tell Galette anything more.

Even when he talked about his adventures with Sanji and Nami, he removed the names of many places and people, and he left out key details.

"Oh…"

Galette nodded, dejected.

Mother's sworn brother?

That means he is her…

Uncle?

No, no!

Galette shook her head quickly. He already said it was only a formality.

If they were not related by blood, then there should be no problem, right?

Besides, Galette was adopted. She and Linlin had no blood relationship at all.

That was so distant, how could Roy possibly be considered her uncle?

Galette secretly felt relieved.

After all…

During the escape, and even on the way back, she had been brushed by that "tent" more than once.

There was no way she could just pretend nothing happened.

You cannot take something for nothing.

Thump.

Galette shifted, trying to slide farther to the side.

Then, with her strength still drained, she slumped and collapsed.

Roy blinked in surprise.

Was she really that scared of him?
