Chapter 112 - Chapter 112: Daemon

On Dakora-7.

Urek's body began to tremble uncontrollably. Him, pathetic? Him, weak? How was this possible? How did this bitch dare to criticize him, the future Governor of Dakora-7? Seized by an unknown madness, he drew the decorative sword at his belt and charged at Guerra.

But one of the Sisters of Silence, in her modified Javelin armor, moved faster than his shadow. She intercepted the attack, seized his wrist, and twisted it with a sharp crack. Urek screamed in pain as she slammed him to the ground, her knee crushing his back. The crowd was stunned, unable to believe Urek had committed such an act of folly.

For the Governor, the scene was a worsening nightmare. His son was captured, humiliated. He opened his mouth to order his release, a desperate father's cry about to erupt.

But at that moment, something horrible happened.

Urek, pinned to the ground, began to convulse violently. His cries changed, warping into a grotesque voice, both masculine and feminine, a chorus of torment. The daemon within him, panicking due to the presence of the Sisters of Silence, was under extreme stress, as if burning from the inside. It became agitated, trembling, weak. The Warp illusions maintaining his human appearance began to tear like old parchment.

Then, he screamed two words that froze the blood: "SOULLESS ONES!"

The Sister said nothing. No explanation, no warning. Faced with a manifestation of Chaos, there was no trial. She activated her power-bladed gauntlet. A high-pitched whine split the air.

Slash.

Urek's head rolled across the floor, tracing a macabre path that stopped at the Governor's feet. The eyes in the severed head remained open, staring into nothing for a moment before a final spark of consciousness flickered within them. The mouth opened and one last word, a whimper of a lost child, escaped:

"Father..."

Then, it was the end.

Governor Garnus looked at his son's head. His world, his legacy, his reason for being, lay at his feet. His wife's prophecy had been fulfilled. A raw, inhuman sound rose from his throat.

"HAAAAAAAAAAA!! YOU BITCH!" he screamed, his maddened gaze turning towards the Sister of Silence.

His cries were the signal. The guards, until then paralyzed by shock, heard their master's rage. They raised their laser rifles. The first shot ricocheted off the Sister's Javelin armor in a blinding flash.

The war for Dakora-7 had begun.

The death of his son had torn the Governor's mind, plunging him into a furious insanity. He fell to his knees, gathering Urek's head in his arms, clutching it to his chest.

"I will fix everything, my son, you'll see," he whispered to the lifeless ear, "I will fix everything..."

Meanwhile, the Javelin helmet of the Sister, capable of sending telepathic messages, transmitted the alert silently. As laser fire ricocheted off her armor and the energy shield Captain Guerra had deployed, the Sister communicated the situation.

Captain Guerra frowned, her face hardened by resignation and determination. She had hoped to avoid this, but Chaos rarely left a choice.

"It is well, my sister," she confirmed mentally. "Code Black."

Code Black. Daemon.

The protocol was clear. There would be no more negotiation.
