Chapter 7 - Episode 7:✨Vikram seeks answers✨

Far from the opulent confines of his mansion, far from the city's glittering lights, Vikram Shetty stood in a place where the air itself hummed with ancient power. This was the Cave of Answers, a sacred, hidden place known only to the elders of the Reeva Vansh.

The air was cool and damp, the only light emanating from glowing fungi on the walls and the ethereal, silver-blue cascade of water that fell from the cavern's ceiling into a perfectly still pool. This was no ordinary waterfall; it was the Vachan Dhara, the Stream of Truth.

Vikram, still in his formal trousers and shirt, now looked less like a college principal and more like the weary guardian he truly was. He knelt at the pool's edge, his hands resting on his knees.

"Oh, Vachan Dhara," he intoned, his voice steady but laden with worry. "I seek your wisdom. The signs are upon us. The Daayans hunt for a soul born on the night of the eclipse. The shadows grow restless. I must know... has the Warlock King, Kaal, taken rebirth?"

For a moment, nothing happened. Then, the surface of the pool shimmered. The water in the waterfall seemed to flow upwards for a brief second before the cascade intensified. Within the flowing water, visions formed—a battlefield under a bleeding sun, a vow spoken with dying breaths, a dark sigil pulsing with malevolent energy.

A resonant, echoing voice, composed of the sound of a thousand trickling streams, filled the cavern. "The soul you seek... has crossed the wheel of time. Kaal... has been reborn."

Vikram's heart clenched. His worst fear was confirmed. "Where? Who is he? You must show me!"

The water swirled violently. "The law of nature forbids it," the voice intoned, its tone final and absolute. "The veil of a new life cannot be torn aside. His identity is his own to reveal, through his actions and his power."

The vision in the water shifted again, showing a blurred, shadowy figure of immense power, standing before a terrified family. Then, it showed the same figure walking through a college campus—his campus.

"But a warning I shall give you, Guardian," the voice echoed, growing more urgent. "The threads of your destiny are now entwined. You will not have to seek him... for he is already drawing near. Soon... you will cross paths with the storm. Be careful."

With those final words, the waterfall returned to its normal, placid flow. The light in the cave dimmed, leaving Vikram alone in the semi-darkness, the warning echoing in his soul.

He stood up, his body feeling heavy with the burden. Kaal was back. He was close. And he was coming for them. Vikram didn't need a name now. He just needed to be ready. The war for the next eclipse had begun, and the enemy was no longer a legend from a book, but a living, breathing threat walking in their midst.

The heavy front door opened, and Vikram stepped into the foyer, the weight of the Cave of Answers still bowing his shoulders. The ominous warning echoed in his mind: "You will cross paths with the storm."

"Papa!"

The sound of Kiara's voice, tinged with a mixture of frustration and relief, cut through his dark thoughts. She stood there, hands on her hips, surrounded by her shopping bags.

"Where have you been? You drag us home for some 'urgent' family thing and then disappear! This is so unfair," she said, her lower lip jutting out in a pout.

Varun stood nearby, watching silently, his expression unreadable.

Vikram looked at his daughter—his vibrant, carefree daughter who represented everything pure he was fighting to protect. The fear and dread from the cave began to recede, replaced by a surge of fierce, paternal love. He glanced at his wristwatch. 11:59 PM.

A slow smile spread across his weary face. The storm was coming, yes. But tonight, he would give his daughter a perfect memory.

"Come here, both of you," he said, his voice gentle.

"All in good time," he said, pulling a silk scarf from his pocket. Before she could protest, he gently blindfolded her.

"Papa, what in the world—?" Kiara giggled, her annoyance forgotten in the face of this unexpected mystery.

"Just trust me," Vikram said, guiding them through the house.

He led them through the dark halls and into the central courtyard. The night air was cool and fragrant with night-blooming flowers. He positioned them carefully.

"On the count of three," he said softly. "One... two... three!"

As the clock in the grand hall began to chime midnight, they removed their blindfolds.

Kiara's gasp was a sound of pure, unadulterated joy.

The entire courtyard was transformed. Strings of fairy lights twinkled like captured stars overhead. Dozens of her favorite white and gold balloons bobbed gently in the breeze. A beautifully decorated cake sat on a table, surrounded by extravagantly wrapped presents. A banner read "Happy 21st Birthday, Kiara!"

"Happy birthday, my baby girl!" Vikram beamed, pulling her into a tight hug.

"Happy birthday, Kiara," Varun added, a genuine smile finally breaking through his usual seriousness.

Tears of happiness welled in Kiara's eyes. "Oh, Papa! Varun! You... you did all this? This is why you made me come home?"

"Did you really think I'd forget my princess's 21st birthday?" Vikram said, his own eyes growing misty.

Just then, the speakers hidden in the garden started playing her favorite upbeat birthday song. Vikram grabbed her hands, and in a moment of spontaneous, joyous abandon, the three of them began to dance—a silly, laughing, uncoordinated dance under the fairy lights.

As she spun, laughing, caught between her father and her brother, a sudden, bittersweet ache pierced Kiara's heart. The laughter, the love, the celebration—it was perfect. But it was missing one person. Her mother's smiling face, her warm embrace. She missed her so intensely in that moment it took her breath away.

But as her father squeezed her hand, she pushed the sadness away, choosing to drown it in the present joy. She was surrounded by love. For tonight, it was enough.

Watching her laugh and dance, Vikram made a silent vow. The storm was coming. Kaal was out there. But he would protect this. He would protect her. No matter the cost.
