Tanjirou followed Cheng Mo and Kochou Shinobu out of the Japanese-style room, a lingering blush of embarrassment still on his face.
Outside, Giyu Tomioka stood silently as always, like a cold, guardian stone statue.
As soon as Nezuko saw her brother emerge, she joyfully scurried forward, her small hand gripping his sleeve tightly, her upturned face filled with worry and lingering fear.
"Brother! You're awake! That's wonderful!"
Nezuko's voice still held a hint of a sob as she anxiously scrutinized Tanjirou from head to toe.
"You were unconscious for so long... We only arrived here late last night. Mr. Cheng Mo carried you, and Mr. Tomioka led the way... The hosts here are very kind; they arranged a room for us, and Miss Kochou even helped treat your wounds..."
She quickly and quietly recounted the events that transpired after Tanjirou fell unconscious.
Listening to his sister's narration, a warmth and a pang of guilt welled up in Tanjirou's heart, realizing he had made his sister worry.
He gently stroked Nezuko's head: "I'm fine now, Nezuko, don't worry."
Just then, Nezuko subtly tugged his sleeve again, lowering her voice even further, her small eyes glancing towards Kochou Shinobu, who was smiling at them from the side: "Brother, that's Miss Kochou Shinobu, a very, very powerful 'Pillar' in the Demon Slayer Corps, I think she's called... the Insect Pillar?"
"She heard that Mr. Cheng Mo had returned and specifically rushed over from that place called the Butterfly Mansion."
The Insect Pillar! One of the Nine Pillars!
Tanjirou immediately understood the status of the gentle-smiling, purple-haired woman before him and instantly realized how big a misunderstanding his earlier rash remark of "teacher" must have caused.
A stronger sense of mortification surged within him. He instinctively lowered his head, not daring to meet Kochou Shinobu's smile, which seemed to see through people's hearts, and decided to bury this embarrassment deep within him for now, never to bring it up again.
Cheng Mo said little, merely stating, "Let's go," before leading the way forward.
Giyu Tomioka silently followed. Kochou Shinobu smiled at the Kamado siblings, gesturing for them to join.
Passing through several quiet corridors, the group arrived at a more spacious and elegant main hall.
Someone was already waiting in the hall.
As soon as Tanjirou and Nezuko entered, their gaze was drawn to the man in the main seat.
The adult's face was severely disfigured, but his seated posture was exceptionally serene and gentle, exuding a reassuring aura.
The siblings involuntarily tensed up, unconsciously softening their breathing, cautiously and discreetly observing this clearly high-ranking adult.
"Mr. Cheng Mo, Shinobu, Giyuu, you've arrived."
Kagaya Ubuyashiki's voice was soothing and gentle, as if possessing a power to calm anxiety.
His face turned slightly in Cheng Mo's direction, "And these two, they must be the Kamado Family children. You've had a long journey."
His gaze seemed unable to fully perceive, yet it accurately "looked" in the direction where Tanjirou and Nezuko stood, causing the siblings' hearts to tighten. They quickly bowed in greeting.
"Master Ubuyashiki."
Kochou Shinobu and Giyu Tomioka bowed simultaneously.
"Greetings, Ubuyashiki Family Head."
Cheng Mo also bowed slightly.
"Your Kasugai Crow has reported the events of that night in detail. You saved the Kamado siblings, killed the Lower Moon Six, and even startled that man into retreating..."
Kagaya Ubuyashiki's voice remained soothing, yet it carried an uncontrollable excitement.
"This is undoubtedly the most significant intelligence and turning point we've achieved in our fight against Muzan for centuries! Please accept my sincerest gratitude!"
He bowed slightly, and his wife, Amane, also bowed solemnly beside him.
His words were weighty and sincere, making both Tanjirou and Nezuko feel the profound significance within them.
Only then did they more clearly realize how astonishing everything Mr. Cheng Mo had done was.
Cheng Mo slightly turned his body, accepting half of the bow, and said calmly, "It was merely a coincidence; I couldn't bear to see a tragedy unfold. There's no need for such formality, Master Ubuyashiki."
"It may have been a simple gesture for you, but for the Demon Slayer Corps, for this world, it is the first ray of dawn in the darkness," Ubuyashiki slowly straightened up, his tone incredibly solemn.
Cheng Mo didn't waste time on pleasantries and cut straight to the point: "Regarding Muzan, I had a brief skirmish with him, and I have some information that might be useful to you."
The others immediately listened intently.
"Firstly, he possesses extremely strong abilities of division and regeneration, making him incredibly difficult to kill completely by conventional means. He is also extremely adept at hiding and escaping, and can change his appearance at will."
"Secondly, sunlight remains his most fatal weakness, and it is the goal he has desperately sought to overcome for centuries. He creates a large number of demons with the sole purpose of finding a breakthrough."
"Thirdly, this person is extremely suspicious and cruel, yet also unusually fond of his own life, never taking risks lightly. His retreat this time was due to his inability to discern my true strength and his fear of being delayed until dawn."
Cheng Mo clearly and concisely relayed the information he knew, in a manner consistent with his identity as someone who had "fought Muzan."
Some of this information the Demon Slayer Corps had already speculated, while some was receiving such clear confirmation for the first time.
Kagaya Ubuyashiki and Amane listened extremely attentively, their expressions grave.
Kochou Shinobu's smile also subsided slightly, and Giyu Tomioka's gaze became sharper.
This intelligence was too crucial!
"Mr. Cheng Mo's intelligence is invaluable."
Ubuyashiki said slowly, his voice carrying a hint of suppressed excitement.
"Furthermore, I will continue to provide the medicines I previously promised," Cheng Mo added. "Subsequent batches will arrive shortly and should alleviate some of the casualty pressure within the corps."
Kagaya Ubuyashiki again expressed his solemn gratitude: "My gratitude knows no bounds."
Towards the end of their discussion, Cheng Mo looked at the anxious Tanjirou and Nezuko: "As for these two, Kamado Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado, their family was annihilated by Muzan, and their resolve for revenge is firm."
"Both of them also possess decent talent, and their character is pure and resilient. I recommend that the Demon Slayer Corps recruit them and provide them with systematic training. In the future, they may become a fighting force."
Kagaya Ubuyashiki gently "looked" at Tanjirou and Nezuko: "I am aware of your suffering."
"The path to avenging yourselves against demons is fraught with thorns, and you could lose your lives at any moment. Even so, are you still determined?"
Tanjirou clenched his fists tightly and exchanged glances with Nezuko. The flames of unwavering determination burned in their eyes as they nodded vigorously: "Yes! Master Ubuyashiki! We will never regret it!"
"Good."
Ubuyashiki nodded slightly, then, after a moment of contemplation, turned to Cheng Mo and Giyu Tomioka.
"Since that is the case, what are your recommendations regarding their training?"
Cheng Mo spoke first: "Tanjirou's situation is unique; what he carries requires a more... efficient method of excavation. I will personally take him under my wing and instruct him for a period during the initial stages."
His mind had already flashed through several brutal plans utilizing modern physical training concepts, combined with Chakra stimulation and Breathing Technique to maximize potential.
And how to systematize the Qi Cultivation Technique and subsequently tailor a fighting style for him that integrates the Hinokami Kagura.
Giyu Tomioka then said in a deep voice: "As for Nezuko Kamado's situation... Master Urokodaki might be the most suitable guide. The environment of Mount Sagiri will help her stabilize her mind, and the gentleness and resilience of Water Breathing can lay a solid foundation."
He paused, then looked at Cheng Mo: "Mr. Cheng Mo's Qi Refining Technique can also be practiced concurrently to strengthen her foundation and cultivate her essence."
Kagaya Ubuyashiki listened quietly, and after a moment, made his decision: "That is excellent. It shall be as you two have suggested."
"Tanjirou will be taught by Mr. Cheng Mo for now."
"Nezuko, introduced by Giyuu, will go to Mount Sagiri to study Water Breathing and Qi Refining Technique under Sakonji Urokodaki."
As the decision was made, Tanjirou and Nezuko both looked up.
In Tanjirou's eyes was anticipation and determination for his upcoming training with his teacher.
And in Nezuko's eyes was a hint of unease about the unknown path ahead, as well as reluctance to part with her brother, but ultimately, it all transformed into a firm nod.
