The next morning.
Cheng Mo glanced at Tanjirou, who was still diligently practicing his Breathing Technique in the backyard, and said, "Pack up, and come out with me."
Tanjirou immediately stopped, wiped his sweat, his eyes filled with confusion, but he didn't ask further, quickly tidying his clothes.
He noticed that his teacher was carrying an unfamiliar, square metal box with a cold metallic sheen. The box's surface had some strange buttons and small windows, and a faint light seemed to emanate from within.
The teacher and disciple once again walked into the bustling streets of Asakusa, but this time their direction was towards the relatively quiet backstreets of Senso-ji Temple.
The shops here were noticeably older, and there weren't many pedestrians.
Soon, they stopped in front of a bookstore called "Qing You Hall."
The storefront was small, and the display window showcased some yellowed ancient books and the four treasures of the study, looking quite unremarkable.
Cheng Mo pushed the door open, and the bell on the door rang out with a clear sound.
The light inside the shop was dim, filled with the unique scent of old books and ink sticks.
A handsome young man wearing round-rimmed glasses, who looked like a shop assistant, was tidying a bookshelf with his head down. Hearing the bell, he looked up.
When his gaze fell on Cheng Mo, it instantly became sharp and wary, even carrying a hint of imperceptible hostility.
Cheng Mo seemed not to notice his gaze and calmly said, "I'm here to see Madam Ogata. We arranged yesterday to appraise some ancient texts."
Yushiro pursed his lips, seemingly wanting to say something, but the curtain of the inner room was lifted by a pale, slender hand, and Tamayo walked out.
She wasn't wearing a veil today, revealing a beautiful but unearthly pale face, her purple eyes as calm as water.
"Mr. Cheng is very punctual."
She nodded slightly, her gaze sweeping over the metal box in Cheng Mo's hand, then lingering on Tanjirou for a moment, looking at his forehead and earrings for a bit longer.
"And this is?"
"My disciple, Kamado Tanjiro," Cheng Mo introduced simply.
Tanjirou quickly bowed, "H-hello! Madam Ogata!"
His keen nose twitched slightly. From this lady and the young shop assistant, he smelled a very, very faint aura, similar to a demon's but distinctly different.
There was no bloodthirst or violence, but rather a deep sorrow and the bitter scent of herbs, which left him somewhat perplexed, but out of trust in his teacher, he didn't show it.
Tamayo looked deeply at Tanjirou for a moment, then simply turned sideways: "Please come in."
The inner room was much more spacious than it appeared from the outside, more like an elegant study.
After the four of them sat down, the atmosphere was silent for a moment.
Cheng Mo did not beat around the bush. He directly placed the metal box on the low table and unlatched it.
A cold white mist overflow, revealing several sealed glass tubes carefully secured inside. The tubes contained dark red blood, which looked particularly eerie under the faint light within the box.
"To be frank, Madam Ogata…"
Cheng Mo began, his voice steady but with a hint of imperceptible gravity.
"I've been seeking out renowned doctors not for fame, but for my younger sister. She suffers from an extremely rare blood disorder that modern medicine is powerless against. I heard that your research into blood and cells has reached an unparalleled level, so I've come to seek your help."
Tanjirou's eyes widened abruptly, looking at his teacher in shock.
Sister?
Did his teacher have a sick younger sister?
So he traveled all over, searching for famous doctors, even fighting against that terrifying Demon King… all to save his own sister?
An indescribable sense of resonance instantly struck Tanjirou's heart.
He thought of Nezuko, who was training with Urokodaki, and the responsibility he carried.
It turned out that his powerful teacher, just like him, had family members he wanted to protect with all his might… The way he looked at Cheng Mo, in addition to his usual awe, now held a deeper understanding and closeness.
Tamayo's attention, however, was completely drawn to the box.
She leaned slightly forward, her purple eyes bursting with an incredulous light: "This, this is… constant temperature preservation? Such a precise device…"
She had lived for several hundred years and had never seen a container that could control temperature so precisely and stably. This technology far surpassed this era!
"These are some blood samples from my younger sister, preserved at a specific low temperature, hoping to maintain their most original active state."
Cheng Mo did not explain the origin of the refrigeration box. He then took out several beautifully bound albums from the leather bag he carried with him.
When opened, they contained color-printed, extremely clear microscopic photographs of blood cells, genetic maps, and complex pathological analyses, with dense annotations beside them.
"These are some research theories concerning this type of blood disease, which might provide some insight for you, Madam."
Tamayo took the albums and, after only flipping through a few pages, her expression completely changed.
The cell morphology depicted, the pathological mechanisms analyzed, and the treatment ideas proposed—their ingenuity, depth, and systematic nature completely overturned many of her centuries-old understandings!
This was absolutely not a forgery!
This was a truly priceless treasure of knowledge that transcended the era!
She abruptly looked up at Cheng Mo, her eyes filled with shock and inquiry: "Mr. Cheng, you… these… where exactly did they come from?"
Cheng Mo didn't answer directly. He paused for a moment, then took out three smaller, sealed glass bottles.
Inside was a small amount of dark-colored, viscous liquid that subtly emitted an ominous energy fluctuation.
These were demon blood and tissue he had collected during battle, under the cover of his extraordinary speed.
"Additionally, here are three more… 'samples' that might be of greater interest to you, Madam."
Cheng Mo's gaze sharpened: "One belongs to Kibutsuji Muzan."
"!!"
Tamayo and Yushiro's expressions simultaneously changed drastically!
"Another belongs to the former Lower Moon Six, Kamanue."
"And the last one belongs to the former Lower Moon Three, Kaigaku."
These were all blood and tissue he had collected with lightning speed during battles.
The air in the basement seemed to solidify.
Yushiro suddenly stepped forward, almost positioning himself in front of Tamayo.
His eyes were filled with disbelief and an extremely dangerous glint: "Who exactly are you?! How could you possibly get these?!"
Muzan's blood?!
And the blood of two Lower Moons?!
This was simply a fantasy!
Tamayo also gripped the album in her hands tightly, her knuckles white, her heart pounding.
The impact brought by this man was stronger with each wave.
Cheng Mo slowly stood up.
He didn't look at Yushiro, but directly at Tamayo.
Without warning, a subtle, hair-raising crackling sound erupted!
Violent, azure lightning suddenly burst forth from his body.
Instantly weaving into a dazzling armor of thunder!
The powerful energy fluctuation caused the room's lights to dim, and the air ionized, producing faint crackling sounds.
The air itself seemed to become thick and heavy, and the books on the shelves moved without a breeze!
The entire space was filled with a terrifying, destructive aura!
Tanjirou was forced back two steps by this sudden display of power, landing on the ground with a thud, his mouth agape.
He stared blankly at his teacher, who was suddenly enveloped in lightning, like a thunder god descended, his eyes filled with immense shock and… an indescribable longing.
Yushiro was even more on high alert, almost ready to unleash his Blood Demon Art, his face extremely pale.
He felt an extremely terrifying power from that lightning, a power that seemed inherently capable of tearing apart and purifying all evil!
Tamayo also stood up abruptly, all color drained from her face, her purple eyes filled with horror.
