Chapter 91 - Chapter 90 The Nine Pillars Gather

A few days later, Kochou Shinobu found Mr. Cheng Mo, who was perusing ancient texts, with a rare solemnity on her face: "Mr. Cheng Mo, Kagaya has sent word, hoping you can come to the mansion for a discussion."

"At this meeting, all the Pillars will be present to jointly discuss... the matter of that special 'sample'."

Mr. Cheng Mo put down the scroll in his hand and nodded.

He knew this matter would eventually need a conclusion.

Under the strict escort of the "Kakushi" corps, Mr. Cheng Mo, Kochou Shinobu, Kyoujurou Rengoku (who was still injured but insisted on going), Himura Senichi (who was placed in a specially sealed box), and Himura Ruri (who was in a wheelchair and insisted on accompanying them), set off.

Tanjirou, as Mr. Cheng Mo's disciple, was also allowed to accompany them.

He carefully pushed Ruri's wheelchair, feeling both nervous and a little excited.

The closer they got to the tranquil mansion surrounded by a sea of wisteria flowers, the more nervous Himura Ruri became.

Her small hands tightly clutched the thin blanket covering her legs.

Tanjirou stayed by her wheelchair and removed her blindfold.

The young boy whispered comforting words: "Don't be afraid, Kagaya is a very gentle and wise person."

Arriving once again at the tranquil mansion, permeated with the fragrance of wisteria, several powerful presences were already standing in the courtyard.

Giyu Tomioka, the Water Pillar, stood silently as always, like a deep pool.

Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Pillar, leaned against a corridor pillar with his arms crossed, his facial scars twisted, his eyes sharp as knives, exuding a violent aura that warned people to keep their distance.

Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Pillar, clasped his hands together, his massive body like a mountain, and though blind, he seemed to perceive everything, a compassionate expression on his face.

Uzui Tengen, the Sound Pillar, was as flamboyant as ever; even in this setting, he maintained his dazzling appearance, but his eyes were quite serious.

Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Pillar, gazed at the clouds in the sky, seemingly lost in thought and unconcerned with his surroundings.

Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Pillar, was curled up in a shadowy corner, his snake, Kaburamaru, flicking its tongue slightly, his eyes coldly sweeping over Mr. Cheng Mo and the large box they had brought.

Kanroji Mitsuri, the Love Pillar, saw Mr. Cheng Mo, and a blush immediately appeared on her face as she secretly waved a greeting.

Himura Ruri had never seen so many awe-inspiring powerful individuals gathered in one place; she was so nervous that her small hands tightly gripped the armrests of the wheelchair, and her breathing became much lighter.

Tanjirou was also seeing all the Pillars for the first time; his keen sense of smell and perception clearly felt the powerful, molten-lava-like energy within each person.

He couldn't help but feel shocked and awed: "How incredible... These are the Demon Slayer Corps' top combatants, the Pillars..."

After everyone had taken their positions, the atmosphere was subtle and solemn.

Sanemi Shinazugawa and Obanai Iguro's gazes were particularly cold, falling unreservedly on the box emitting a faint demon blood aura, their hostility almost palpable.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki, seated on the veranda, though his face was ravaged by illness, still carried a gentle and forgiving aura.

He first inquired with concern about Kyoujurou Rengoku's injuries and expressed his deep admiration for his heroic fight.

Kyoujurou Rengoku immediately straightened his back and responded loudly with his characteristic booming voice: "Thank you, Master, for your concern! Protecting the people and slaying demons is the duty of a Pillar! I am only deeply sorry that I failed to hold Muzan and instead troubled Mr. Cheng Mo for rescue!"

Kagaya gently shook his head: "You have done well enough, Kyoujurou. Bringing back important information and hope alive is far more valuable than a reckless sacrifice."

He paused, then his voice calmly turned to everyone: "Then, Kyoujurou, and Mr. Cheng Mo, please explain the events of this incident to everyone."

Kyoujurou briefly explained how he encountered Muzan, how he was overwhelmingly defeated by absolute power, and the tragic state of the Himura family.

When everyone heard that even a powerful Flame Pillar like him was utterly helpless before Muzan, the atmosphere grew even more somber.

At the same time, they gained a new, deeper understanding and shock regarding Mr. Cheng Mo, who could confront Muzan head-on and even scare him away.

He finally emphasized heavily: "And that father, who was transformed into a demon by Muzan, even in his most chaotic and violent state, instinctively protected his human daughter with his body!

"This will is by no means something an ordinary demon could possess! I believe there is something here that deserves our deep consideration!"

This was his foreshadowing to defend the miracle he had witnessed.

Next, Mr. Cheng Mo's narration was much calmer, more like an experimental report.

He described the possible experimental purpose hidden behind Muzan's seemingly casual attack, Himura Senichi's blood's special resistance to demon blood, and the phenomenon of his powerful obsession conflicting with Muzan's control.

He used terms like "sample observation," "energy erosion and rejection reaction," which left some people confused but also helped them understand its uniqueness.

As soon as he finished speaking, Sanemi Shinazugawa suddenly stepped forward, erupting first, his emotions agitated, veins throbbing on his forehead:

"A demon is a demon! What 'protective will'?! That's just a disguise before eating people! I've seen with my own eyes a mother turn into a demon and eat her own children! Execute him immediately! And isolate that little girl for investigation! She might also have demon blood on her! No one can guarantee she won't suddenly go berserk!"

Beside them, Himura Ruri in the wheelchair turned pale when she heard these fierce words.

Seeing this, Tanjirou quickly whispered comforting words to her, while looking worriedly at his calm-faced teacher.

Obanai Iguro also echoed coldly, his voice like a venomous snake slithering through grass: "Shinazugawa is right, no matter how beautiful the lie, it still wraps ugly poison.

"Letting a demon that could lose control at any moment stay in the Butterfly Mansion? Kochou, when did you become so naive?"

His accusation was directed squarely at Kochou Shinobu, who was in charge of medical care and research.

Kochou Shinobu's smile remained, but the temperature in her purple eyes dropped a few degrees.

Her tone was still gentle, but she firmly stood with Mr. Cheng Mo: "Oh my, Mr. Shinazugawa, Mr. Iguro, please rest assured. The isolation measures are of the highest level, personally overseen by me and Mr. Cheng Mo, and there will be no oversight. More importantly..."

Her tone shifted, becoming serious: "The existence of this 'demon gentleman' provides us with unprecedented possibilities and valuable samples for understanding Muzan's blood mechanism and even finding a way to reverse demonization in the future. To destroy him easily would be irresponsible to countless past and future victims."

Seeing the conflict erupt, Gyomei Himejima clasped his hands together and spoke heavily, his voice like a grand bell: "...Namu Amida Butsu. The tragedy has already occurred, and it is deeply heartbreaking. That father's body was invaded by demonic power, yet his soul struggles and cries out in the deep abyss of darkness."

"If there is a glimmer of light that can save a fallen soul, and use this light to illuminate the path and save more people, we should not close our eyes out of fear."

He changed his tone, becoming extremely cautious: "However, there must be comprehensive containment methods to ensure absolute safety; this is no trivial matter." His attitude leaned towards preserving the research but strongly emphasized safety.

The silent Giyu Tomioka looked at Mr. Cheng Mo, then at the agitated Shinazugawa, and finally uttered a few stiff words: "...I trust... Mr. Cheng Mo."

He expressed his support for Mr. Cheng Mo concisely.

Kanroji Mitsuri also nodded quickly, her cheeks flushed: "I... I also think Mr. Cheng Mo's words make sense! And his food... oh no! His analysis is very correct!"

She almost let something slip and quickly pulled the conversation back.

Seeing that his opinion had no support, Sanemi Shinazugawa's anger instantly turned to the always calm Mr. Cheng Mo.

He glared fiercely at Mr. Cheng Mo, his tone full of sarcasm and questioning:

"You! Since you possess the strength to fight Muzan, why didn't you fight him to the death until dawn?! You should know how many people have died at that bastard's hands! Were you afraid? Did you have reservations? Is this the extent of a so-called ally?!"

This sharp, almost accusatory questioning instantly plunged the atmosphere to freezing point.

Tanjirou, who had been nervously guarding Ruri's wheelchair, could no longer hold back when he heard Shinazugawa insult his beloved teacher in such a way.

"Shut up! You are not allowed to speak about Teacher like that!"

"Teacher was concerned about Miss Ruri, concerned about the heavily injured Kyoujurou! And... and with me, his disciple of insufficient strength, present! That's why Muzan found an opportunity to retreat!"

"If Teacher had been alone, he would have fought to the very end!"
