Cherreads

Chapter 675 - Chapter 262: The First Task!

Ten minutes later, Harry heard the crowd once again explode into cheers... It seemed Fleur had succeeded.

Then there was a moment of silence, waiting for the judges to score Fleur... another round of thunderous applause... and then, the whistle blew for the third time.

Harry knew that this time, the whistle signaled it was his turn to go on stage.

There was no one else left in the tent, he pulled out his magic wand from his pocket and strolled leisurely towards the outside.

There was nothing to be nervous about, after all, it wasn't the first time he had faced a fire dragon, not even the second.

He walked through the tent entrance, headed outside, passed by the trees, went through a gap in the fence, and arrived at the competition field.

It looked quite similar to the Quidditch Match field, but the arena was noticeably more spacious than the Quidditch Match field.

The entire school sat around the stands, along with them were officials from the Ministry of Magic, reporters from various newspapers, and many wizards from around the world who had come to Hogwarts to watch the event.

Conservatively estimated, there had to be at least thirty to forty thousand people watching.

It seemed the Triwizard Tournament was indeed a highly influential event. Harry thought that if it weren't for the sudden big news of the Austro-German merger, even more people might have come to watch.

He looked up again, and at the other end of the field stood the Hungarian Horntail.

It was crouched low, guarding its clutch of eggs, its wings half-folded, those fierce yellow eyes locked onto Harry.

This was an enormously large, lizard-like reptile covered in scales. It violently swung its spiky tail, leaving deep ruts several meters long on the hard ground.

The stands were filled with a deafening clamor, Harry assumed it was cheering for him.

He looked around.

In the direction of Slytherin, he saw Cassandra.

She was clapping for Harry too, looking nothing like her usual aloof self.

In the direction of Hufflepuff, Pabi was even standing on a bench, cheering for Harry.

Harry searched again, but he couldn't find the other figure he was hoping to see.

Just as he felt a bit disappointed, he suddenly noticed, in the guest of honor's seat, a charming figure was clapping for him.

It was Vivi; Harry recognized her immediately.

Originally disappointed because Vivi couldn't be present, he was suddenly filled with energy.

He looked back at the Hungarian Horntail, which was glaring at him, seemingly ready to swallow him whole.

"Are you ready?" Mr. Bagman's voice rang out, loud enough to overpower the crowd's commotion.

Harry raised one arm, signaling to Mr. Bagman that he was ready.

"Alright," Mr. Bagman shouted above the noise, "So... our last champion, none other than the youngest champion, Mr. Potter—we all know, he is only fourteen this year, attending Gryffindor College at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, currently only in his fourth year..."

"Of course, age is not an issue, we also know him well—the renowned Dark Wizard, You-Know-Who, was once defeated by him..."

At this point, a surge of enthusiastic cheers erupted from the stands.

The Savior, who doesn't know him?

As a mere infant, having defeated the infamous Dark Wizard Voldemort, such an achievement is well-documented, isn't it?

"Of course, that's history, but his performance in school is quite outstanding too, which is why Principal Dumbledore made an exception allowing him to participate in the Triwizard Tournament as someone under seventeen—so, let's give it up again, offer your cheers for this youngest champion."

The stands once more erupted in a cacophony of roars, there were cheers mixed with a few curses—the supporters of the Durmstrang champion and the Beauxbatons champion were somewhat unhappy with Mr. Bagman's private commentary, shouting 'Geneva, refund'.

"Alright, enough of the chatter." Mr. Bagman knew he had over-talked a bit, so he loudly announced, "Now—the competition officially begins!"

With Mr. Bagman's voice falling, the Hungarian Horntail let out a deafening roar.
