The door clicked shut behind the CEO and the legal team, leaving Lian and Rian alone in the strategy room.
But it didn't feel empty.
The air felt charged like the world had stopped spinning just so the two of them could decide what happened next.
A soft hum came from the tablet on the table, waiting for them. A blank document. A blinking cursor.
The first weapon in their war.
Lian swallowed hard. "Okay," he whispered. "Let's… start."
Rian didn't sit. He dragged a chair closer to Lian's instead, so close their knees brushed when he turned.
Lian's cheeks heated.
"Closer helps you breathe," Rian murmured, as if that explained everything. "And we write better together."
He was right, and Lian hated that he knew him so well already.
Rian lifted the tablet and handed it to him. "You write the first line."
"Me?"
"Yes." Rian rested his forearm on the table. "Your voice is gentler. Softer. They'll listen to you before they listen to me."
