Chapter 40 - Chapter 39: Charmander in the Rain, Plot Progression!

[Meowth: This is bad, the twerp's getting stronger and stronger. Are we out of luck? Meow.]

[James: No! I don't want to go back to headquarters to be a janitor!!!]

[Jessie: For Team Rocket's beautiful tomorrow, it's time for the three of us to step up!]

[Meowth, James, Jessie: Go! Go! Go!]

It wasn't just the Team Rocket trio who were fired up; the other quiz takers in the chat room were also overflowing with determination.

So far, the quiz had gone through four or five intense rounds, and yet the system had already given away three Legendary or Mythical Pokémon.

This insane generosity completely stunned everyone.

[Flint: I'm going to throw up. Why am I still suspended for another round?! I want to answer questions! I want Legendary Pokémon!!!]

[Cynthia: I originally thought the Dragon Dance TM was already very precious, but compared to the reward Ash received, I want to cry now.]

[Carnet: You're being ungrateful. At least you got something. We've gotten nothing at all.]

[Steven: I'm not pretending anymore. I'm laying my cards on the table. I, the Quiz King, am entering kill mode!!!]

Kanto Region

"What a cute Pokémon."

Its head was a tiny metal hexagonal nut, and its body was soft and fluid.

It was incredibly comfortable to touch, and Misty immediately fell in love with Meltan.

"Ash, let's discuss this. Let me take care of Meltan."

Ash replied instantly, "Don't even think about it!"

He rejected Misty's suggestion without hesitation.

Are you kidding him?

When Misty took Togepi away last time, Ash was depressed for days.

This time, he would protect Meltan with his life.

Misty pouted. "Hmph! You stingy person."

The quiz ended, and the video on the black-bordered screen temporarily finished playing.

That screen dimmed, and the white-bordered screen lit up again.

The scene began—

[The addition of Brock made the travel party a trio. To reach the next Gym, the three crossed Mt. Moon.]

[During the crossing of Mt. Moon, the trio and Team Rocket had another battle, successfully recovering the Clefairys' treasure—a Moon Stone the size of a small mountain.]

[Flint(Brock Father): This Moon Stone is too big! If I sold it, it could cover our family of twelve's living expenses for ten years.]

[Apollo: Ten years? Aren't you underestimating the value of this Moon Stone? How about this—if you get it, Team Rocket will cover your entire family's living expenses for the rest of your lives.]

[Flint: Really? Is that true?]

[Brock(Brock Father): Dad! What are you doing? You're not actually trying to make a deal with Team Rocket, are you?!]

[Flint(Brock Father): Of course not! I was just teasing him.]

[In Cerulean City, Ash also learned Misty's identity: she was the younger sister of the Cerulean Gym Leaders—the Cerulean Sisters.]

[Daisy, Violet, and Lily originally planned to give Ash the badge for free, but Misty couldn't stand her sisters' irresponsibility. She volunteered to battle in their place.]

[Team Rocket interrupted their match, and the battle between Ash and Misty ended in a draw. However, even without a clear victory, Ash's strength was recognized by Misty sisters.]

[And just like that, Ash received his second badge.]

[Steven: Uh… Ash in our world got his first two badges as charity.]

[Flint: That's right, that's right. He didn't earn any of them normally.]

[Sidney: You can't say that. If the battle had continued, Ash had a pretty good chance of winning.]

[Bonnie: The gap between our Ash and Parallel World Ash is just too big.]

[Carnet: There's no comparison. Ash is a normal rookie Trainer. Parallel World Ash debuted as a champion.]

[Cynthia: Is Ash normal? He's not normal either. Don't forget—he defeated Raihan at around eleven years old.]

[Leon: Ash is already impressive. But who can compare to Parallel World Ash? That's why he gets overshadowed.]

[Bruno: That's right, that's right. Our Ash is also very outstanding!]

Video screen:

[After getting his second badge, Ash didn't have long to celebrate before facing a setback.]

[On the way to Vermilion City, Ash met A.J., a Trainer with a 98-win streak. In front of A.J.'s Sandshrew, Ash's Butterfree had no ability to fight back.]

[After parting ways with A.J., Ash caught Bulbasaur in Pokémon Village. Then, in the forest near Route 24, he encountered a Charmander abandoned by its Trainer.]

[A Trainer named Damian not only abandoned Charmander but lied to him completely. On a stormy night, Ash and his friends, ignoring their own safety, left the Pokémon Center and returned to the mountains, rescuing the dying Charmander.]

[Finally, after several twists and turns, everything ended well—and Charmander became Ash's Pokémon.]
