Chapter 148 - Chapter 114: Yang Yi's Promise Reward

The only village in the Ninja World capable of executing combination Ninjutsu attacks is the Hidden Rock Village.

Not counting the Jonin, if a battle were to be waged solely among the Genin and Chunin of the major Ninja Villages, the Hidden Rock Village would undoubtedly be the strongest; their Earth Release Ninjutsu, when combined, exponentially increases in power.

After settling matters with the Ninja Corps, Uchiha Yoichi delegated other trivial tasks to several Squad Leaders and then went to find Hatake Sakumo.

--------------------

"Counterattack? What's the old man thinking, how is that even possible!"

Upon receiving the village's orders, Jiraiya immediately covered his head; even though the village had sent him an additional eight hundred ninja, Kikyo Castle still only had eleven hundred Konoha Ninja.

Meanwhile, there were over two thousand Hidden Sand Ninja in the Land of Rivers, along with the Fourth Generation Kazekage and the One-tailed Jinchuriki.

They were barely able to hold their ground, let alone launch a counterattack…

"It shouldn't be like this, the old man should already know about the battle report here, how come… could he possibly think I've convinced Uchiha Minami's bear?"

Jiraiya immediately slapped his forehead at the thought.

Although last time the Tailed Beast Ball from the One-tailed Jinchuriki was blocked by Uchiha Minami's Summoned Beast bear, that bear doesn't listen to his commands, and he couldn't possibly send Uchiha Minami onto the battlefield either.

"Lord Hokage might have other considerations in mind, and Uchiha Minami's Summoned Beast is just one aspect…"

Nara Shikaku analyzed, noting that although not much was conveyed in the transmission, he still managed to deduce some intelligence.

Waiting for an opportunity?

Who will create that opportunity? If it's not due to the Hidden Sand Ninja making a blunder, then the village might have other plans to create a chance for them to counterattack the Hidden Sand Ninja.

Apart from disrupting the enemy's rear, sending reinforcements is another possibility, and these reinforcements might come from the village or from other forces.

"But Lord Jiraiya, I still think it's necessary to explain the situation to the village. If all else fails, at least inform Jonin Yoichi and have his Summoned Beast assist us."

A Summoned Beast capable of executing attacks comparable to a Tailed Beast Ball is even mightier than Lord Jiraiya's great toad, and stationing such a powerhouse at the rear medical camp is indeed a waste.

If that bear were to join the battlefield, Nara Shikaku would truly have the confidence to formulate a plan to counterattack the Hidden Sand Ninja.

"I'll think of something…"

Jiraiya scratched his head and said, understanding that if that bear were to join the battlefield, it would save many Konoha Ninja's lives, but if only it were that simple.

Fine, let it be embarrassing, explaining the situation to the village is no big deal!

Jiraiya resolved in his heart to let the village communicate with Uchiha Yoichi, as he himself couldn't handle that bear.

On the other side of the battlefield between the Land of Rivers and the Land of Fire.

As the slaughter center of the last Ninja World War, the Land of Rain had witnessed chaotic battles among the three Ninja Villages, eventually ending with the Hidden Rain Village conceding defeat and the Demigod Hanzo abandoning his dream of making the village the Sixth Great Ninja Village.

Now, with war igniting all over the Ninja World, it reignited Hanzo's long-dormant dream.

However, he did not rashly join the war, but instead accumulated strength and waited patiently.

Moreover, things were not peaceful within the Land of Rain either; a foolish organization had recently emerged, preaching their incredibly absurd ideology everywhere.

At first, Hanzo found it laughable and ignored them, thinking they would naturally realize the folly of their youthful ideals after hitting a wall.

But lately, according to reports from his subordinates, those young people seemed to be growing faster, continuously recruiting young ninja and spreading their ideas throughout the Land of Rain.

This couldn't help but make Hanzo wary, these seemingly foolish young people might be accumulating power to seize control of his Hidden Rain Village.

The older you get, the more you value power.

During the Second Ninja World War, Hanzo was in his prime, full of vigor, but his dreams were brutally shattered; now, he has come to place great importance on power.

For anyone who threatens his power in the Hidden Rain Village, Hanzo will view them as enemies in his heart.

"Lord Hanzo, the envoys from Konoha have arrived, we brought them in quietly without anyone noticing."

"Hmm, bring them here."

Hanzo said, and the Hidden Rain Ninja nodded and went down to bring the people in.

Soon, a group of three arrived in Hanzo's room; besides Danzo, who entered the room in the lead, the other two members of Root stood at the doorway, staying outside with Hanzo's guards.

"I didn't expect Konoha to send you, Danzo."

Hanzo began to speak, his voice somewhat muffled due to wearing a mask; otherwise, his breath, containing Salamander Poison, could kill many people around him without it.

"What brings you to the Hidden Rain Village?"

"Hanzo, I'm not one for beating around the bush, so I'll be straightforward about my purpose and bottom line."

After sitting down, Danzo spoke: "I hope the Hidden Rain Village can form an alliance with Konoha to jointly attack the Hidden Sand Ninja. Once they are repelled, we can split the benefits of the Land of Rivers, and you'll be entitled to half of the Land of Wind's missions."

"Assignments from the Land of Wind? What makes the Daimyo of the Land of Wind entrust tasks to you?"

Upon hearing this, Hanzo frowned and asked, as mission assignments form a significant part of a Ninja Village's income, and missions from a major country are immensely lucrative; even half could fully satiate the Hidden Rain Village.

Danzo explained, "With the death of the Third Generation Kazekage, the Fourth Generation Kazekage suffered a crushing defeat. Moreover, with Konoha and the Hidden Rain Village poised and alert, as long as the Daimyo of the Land of Wind isn't short-sighted, he naturally knows how to choose, and Konoha will also persuade the Daimyo of the Land of Wind."

"So, it seems you haven't secured the assignments from the Daimyo of the Land of Wind and still want the Hidden Rain Village to join the war, Danzo, your plan is entirely focused on benefits for Konoha, I won't agree to it."

Hanzo snorted coldly and said, stating that even though he desires the assignments from the Daimyo of the Land of Wind, he won't fall for Danzo's trick.

"Our alliance benefits both sides, and Konoha can even promise to give all the benefits from defeating the Hidden Sand Village to the Hidden Rain Village, apart from what was agreed beforehand about the Land of Rivers; Konoha only aims to defeat the Hidden Sand."

Danzo presented a decision made in advance, splitting the spoils from the Hidden Sand with the Hidden Rain, adding an extra rival target for the Hidden Sand Village, possibly shifting their hatred.

"Let me tell you, Konoha and the Hidden Cloud are about to wage war, and we just want to end this battlefield quickly, which is why we approached you. If this drags on, the Hidden Sand can't do anything against Konoha; last time, they've already deployed a Tailed Beast."

Leaking some unimportant information might not stir Hanzo's interest in Konoha; conversely, it might increase the chances of persuading him.

Hanzo, being suspicious, might think that if Konoha divulges such information, they must have a trump card he doesn't know about.

"I see... I need some time to think about it. Stay in the Hidden Rain Village for a few days first."

"One day. If I don't get a response from you by tomorrow, I'll head back to Konoha."

Danzo said decisively: "Hanzo, Konoha doesn't genuinely need an alliance, but an alliance between Konoha and the Hidden Rain Village would be mutually beneficial. I hope you consider it carefully."

Having said that, Danzo stood up and walked out, and once he left the door, a Hidden Rain Ninja guided them away.

After Danzo left, Hanzo called his trusted aides in the Hidden Rain Village to discuss the matter. His heart was already leaning towards an alliance with Konoha.

The reason for Hidden Rain Village's terrible defeat in the last war was due to their lack of allies, having to fight against two Great Ninja Villages simultaneously.

Though he did not lose, the Hidden Rain Village lost tragically.

After much deliberation, Hanzo finally decided to agree to an alliance with Konoha. The position of the Land of Rain is too awkward, being surrounded by three major countries and their allied minor countries, leaving the Land of Rain with no room for development.

The next day, when Danzo came again for negotiations, Hanzo immediately said: "Danzo, I agree to the alliance, but you must also fulfill one condition of mine!"
