Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: A Pleasant Morning

"Another person?"

Li Hengsheng was a bit surprised. Xu Muhai wanted to take on a disciple and yet needed to consult another person?

Who would that be?

Could it be the Sect Leader?

But as the Peak Master of Muhai Peak, he should have that kind of authority, shouldn't he?

Though he harbored doubts in his heart, Li Hengsheng didn't ask further. After all, he could already see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Becoming a disciple of Muhai Peak might actually mean he had a chance to reach the Innate realm.

Upon reaching the Innate realm, one becomes a top-tier strongman.

In the future, when confronting Lu Qiaoqiao, he would have the capability to protect her.

In the early morning, the sun slowly rose.

The light, bright but not blinding, spread over the entire Changting Town, and the small town gradually started to bustle.

Businesspeople began to come out, creating a lively atmosphere. The cries of street vendors revealed the city's charm, making one feel at ease.

"Boss, a bowl of plain porridge and an order of fried dough sticks."

A young man in a green robe sat down and spoke to the busy stall owner.

"Painter Li, you've come." The owner quickly smiled and said, "Please wait a moment, I'll serve you right away."

With that, the stall owner quickly set down his work, wiped his hands on his clothes, and picked up the tongs to select the largest fried dough stick, placing it on a plate.

Then he carefully ladled the thickest rice porridge from the bottom of the pot into a bowl, sprinkled a pinch of salt and chopped green onions, and joyfully brought it over to the table.

After this, he turned and fetched a small dish containing some pickled vegetables.

"Painter Li, these are pickles my wife made yesterday. Please try them."

"Alright, thank you." Li Changqing nodded.

He had grown accustomed to life here and found the lack of pressure quite enjoyable compared to his previous life.

Though he had sent most of the silver to Li Hengsheng, the remainder was sufficient for Li Changqing to live comfortably.

After all, Li Changqing no longer needed to purchase expensive painting paper and brushes.

Roaming around each day, having a bite to eat, gardening, and occasionally doing some carving, his days were delightfully pleasant.

Recently, Li Changsheng had also bought many books from the small stalls. Although these books were mostly supernatural novels, Li Changqing gained some understanding of the martial artists and painters in this world.

Li Changqing was particularly curious about painters.

The descriptions of painters in books were incredibly mystical. With immense Divine Soul power, they seemed omnipotent, which intrigued Li Changqing. Though not a painter himself, just a woodcarver, he wondered whether he possessed such powerful Divine Soul power?

If so, how should such a thing be used?

If it truly existed, where did his Divine Soul power stand?

For all these questions, Li Changqing was intensely curious.

Unfortunately, he didn't know any painters, so there was no one to ask.

Merely relying on these supernatural novels was no reference at all.

It seemed Changting Town was too small; perhaps he should travel more, to see the world.

Generally speaking, in the Cangyuan Realm, painters needed to travel far and wide.

Observing the landscapes of the Cangyuan Realm, witnessing all kinds of wondrous sights, encountering all sorts of strange creatures—such experiences enriched what they could depict.

With limited exposure, a painter wouldn't have much to draw.

Recently, because money wasn't an issue, Li Changqing had only been doing bit of small carvings and nothing else.

Indeed, it seemed his carvings possessed some mysterious capabilities, not inferior to paintings, and Li Changqing was worried that such work might invite unnecessary trouble.

He was just an ordinary person; without the ability to protect himself, it would be akin to seeking death.

"Delicious. Boss, your cooking is really good." Li Changqing finished the fried dough stick and porridge cleanly, "These pickles are also excellent."

"Thank you, Painter Li, for the compliment. I'm glad you like it." The boss smiled broadly.

Since Li Changqing had often dined here, it had indirectly brought many customers.

If even a painter thought his food was good, others naturally wanted to try it too.

Just then, the sound of carts and horses arose from afar, and about a dozen large carts loaded with goods slowly approached, covered with burlap and piled high.

"So much cargo." Li Changqing couldn't help but exclaim.

"It's goods from the Yan Family Commerce Association. They go to restock every month around this time and have just returned," the stall owner explained to Li Changqing.

"The Yan family?" Li Changqing's eyebrows raised. Yeah, if he wanted to find such information, the Yan family should have it, right?

The Yan family was a major family, after all.

They should have a substantial collection of books.

Maybe he could find what he wanted there.

As for how to read books at the Yan family, Li Changqing wasn't worried because Yan Botao had left a Token for him before leaving.

With a Token from the Patriarch of the Yan family, entering the Yan residence should be a piece of cake, right?

Thinking of this, Li Changqing tossed down some money and headed towards the Yan residence.

In Changting Town, the Yan family was among the top families, and Yan Botao even had a Postnatal Peak cultivation level.

Thus, many visitors meant to see the Yan family daily.

The Yan family had numerous properties in Changting Town. Some come seeking employment, while others hope to become guards by joining the Yan family with their skills.

They truly had all kinds of people.

When Li Changqing arrived at the Yan family's gate, he discovered about a dozen people already waiting there.

But they couldn't get in at all.

"This Yan family is indeed popular." Li Changqing muttered.

Then he adjusted his attire and casually walked towards the gate of the Yan residence.

Those waiting outside watched Li Changqing stride confidently in, showing expressions of intrigue.

They waited for the butler of the Yan family to come and select them, yet here was someone, with no apparent gift in hand, just walking in? Was he a fool?

"Stop, wait outside." The two Yan family guards at the door blocked Li Changqing from entering.

However, Li Changqing wasn't in the mood for any play-acting, so he directly took out the Token and showed it to the two.

When the guards saw the Token in Li Changqing's hand, they were understandably shocked.

This was no ordinary Token.

This was a top-tier worship Token!

"Please, please." The two guards quickly addressed Li Changqing.

"Thank you." Li Changqing expressed his gratitude and then entered the Yan residence.

This left the people outside dumbfounded.

What was going on?

"Why can he go in, and we can't?" a burly man shouted angrily at the two guards.

They only saw Li Changqing show some kind of token to the guards, but they couldn't make out what it was exactly.

The Yan family guards couldn't be bothered to respond to them.

At this moment, a man in plain clothes stepped forward from the crowd and, with a sneaky grin, said, "I have a token too, brothers, give me a break here."

As he spoke, he took out a token for the two guards to see.

The guards looked at the token and saw it bore a single word.

Phoenix.

The man grinned and said, "It's a discount token for the Cyan Phoenix Tower, brothers. With this token, it's a 30% discount; I can take you there."

"Scram."
