Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Rainy Night, Blade, Umbrella

Chu Huaixu put on the [Game Helmet], and then opened his eyes.

The environment in front of him changed instantly, and he only felt that the scene before him was somewhat dim.

It was a night of pouring rain.

At this moment, he was wearing a short knife on his waist, holding an oiled paper umbrella, standing on a small path in the forest.

The smell of rain mixed with earth surged into his nostrils, making him feel even more awake.

The sky was overcast with clouds, and not even a trace of moonlight could be seen.

Chu Huaixu frowned, raised his right hand which was not holding the umbrella, brought his index and middle fingers together, then sliced upward in the air.

The next moment, the whole world seemed a bit brighter!

Everything in front of him, he suddenly could see even more clearly.

Just as Chu Huaixu was about to survey his surroundings, a figure sprang out next to the dense forest ahead.

The opponent was also holding an oiled paper umbrella, dressed in tight black clothes, the only difference being that his waist bore a long knife.

Oh, right, he was holding his umbrella very low, so from Chu Huaixu's angle, he could only see half of his face, much like a close-up shot in a movie.

Therefore, Chu Huaixu also silently lowered the oiled paper umbrella in his hand a bit.

This man who sprang out from the dense forest had already placed his right hand on the hilt of his long knife.

His voice was somewhat hoarse, and it sounded like there was phlegm stuck in his throat:

"I advise you not to do anything, come with me now, and be imprisoned in the Celestial Prison."

This man with stubble added another sentence after speaking:

"Of course, you also have a second choice."

"Give me fifty taels of silver."

After speaking, he turned slightly to indicate passage.

Upon hearing this, Chu Huaixu lowered the oiled paper umbrella even further.

The night rain was pouring down, pattering against the surface of the oiled paper umbrella, and amid the night, his expression could not be clearly seen.

'Fifty taels, purchasing power roughly equal to over fifty thousand on Earth.' Chu Huaixu mentally converted it for a moment.

Spending over fifty thousand to avoid imprisonment, or even to buy a life, doesn't seem expensive.

But he wasn't sure whether the current "self" could afford such a sum.

Hence, he began searching through his body for money.

To his surprise, he actually found a silver note for one hundred taels in his bosom.

'Huh? It seems this time's [beginning] isn't simple.' he thought.

Chu Huaixu raised the oiled paper umbrella, raised an eyebrow at the man, and seriously asked while holding the silver note for a hundred taels:

"Aren't you... able to make change?"

The stubbled man opposite also raised his umbrella, his gaze suddenly becoming a bit sharper.

According to his original plan, he intended to see the background of this young man.

For many people, they wouldn't carry all their possessions with them.

Just taking the silver he had on him wouldn't be satisfying enough, would it?

It could basically be understood as not only wanting to rob the wallet but even the balance in the bank card.

But who would have thought, this young man in front of him, actually carried such a large denomination silver note!

The stubbled man licked his somewhat dry lips, used that terrible phlegm-stuck voice line and said, "Originally, I had some doubts about your identity, but now..."

"Zing—!" The stubbled man directly drew out the long knife at his waist!

He looked at Chu Huaixu with a sinister smile, holding the umbrella with his left hand and the knife with his right, taking two steps forward.

"I'm just puzzled as to what purpose there is in sending someone like you, a [Pseudo Spiritual Embryo] mortal, over here?"

Currently, the situation is special, with an impending disaster, indeed having entered the era of universal cultivation.

If one has some Spiritual Embryo aptitude, they can step into the door of cultivation and become a cultivator.

This man appeared not young, yet had not stepped into the door of cultivation, undoubtedly making him a Pseudo Spiritual Embryo.

Listening to the stubbled man's words, Chu Huaixu titled his head slightly and looked at him obliquely:

"Brother, aren't you the same?"

Hilarious, aren't you a Pseudo Spiritual Embryo yourself, and now you're looking down on others?

The stubbled man, hearing this, had an even more vicious look in his eyes, his face showing anger.

In earlier years, the rights to cultivate were monopolized by Sects, Dynasties, Noble Families, and other forces to ensure that the hierarchy always existed.

If an ordinary person wasn't remarkably talented, they wouldn't even have the opportunity to cultivate.

Now, due to the impending disaster, the era of universal cultivation has been ushered in.

And under this kind of big environment, for someone like him who is a Pseudo Spiritual Embryo, it appears very cruel.

Aside from Body Refining, there are no other options.

However, to try to break through the first barrier of cultivation through Body Refining is as difficult as climbing to the sky!

The effort required here is hundreds, or even thousands and ten thousand times that of someone with a Spiritual Embryo!

Therefore, for the stubbled man, Spiritual Embryos are what he envies most.

He dreams of becoming a cultivator.

At this moment, his anger surged instantly, and his right hand gripping the knife tightened even more.

But before chopping him down, the stubbled man also wanted to mock back.

After all, cutting is cutting, and trash-talking is trash-talking.

"Yeah, I'm also a Pseudo Spiritual Embryo, no doubt."

"But I've never thought of using just a mere Pseudo Spiritual Embryo to infiltrate the Daoist Sect."

"You useless thing really don't know your own weight! Are you relying on your pretty face to sneak in through... the back door?" He licked his upper lip.

Chu Huaixu listened to his words, digesting the information within.

"Infiltrate the Daoist Sect?" He caught this keyword.

Strictly speaking, a Pseudo Spiritual Embryo indeed couldn't be admitted by the Daoist Sect.

However, a smile emerged on Chu Huaixu's face, and he uttered words the stubbled man couldn't understand at all:

"Don't ask."

"I'm an athlete specialty student."

...

...

The rain kept pouring.

The stubbled man doubted if there was water in his brain, or if the other party's brain was flooded.

He was utterly confused.

But, the other party moved!

Chu Huaixu also drew the short knife from his waist.

"Rainy night, knife, umbrella?" he muttered.

Then, he threw the umbrella away.

The short knife unsheathed!

The heavy rain pounded his body, and Chu Huaixu drew his knife forward, stepping into a puddle on the first stride, splashing mud-mixed water everywhere.

"How bold!" The stubbled man shouted angrily, also tossing away his oiled paper umbrella.

The long knife swung forward, with Sword Momentum fierce and taking a broad approach.

As the two blades connected, Chu Huaixu felt a shock in his tiger's mouth.

Clearly, the opponent was much stronger than him!

Unexpectedly, this stubbled man had undergone Body Refining.

However, he hadn't broken through the first barrier of cultivation.

"An interesting opening," thought Chu Huaixu.

But, at your age, with such a foul mouth, is this the extent of your Body Refining?

"Is this it?"

The short knife suddenly flicked upward!

The stubbled man was secretly alarmed.

He couldn't comprehend why this young man, who wasn't strong, fast, or physically sturdy, couldn't be hit.

If it was just a close call once, he'd think the other was lucky.

But what if it's every time?

Moreover, his blade angles and precision in control were terrifying.

It was as if his mastery of his own body had reached an abnormally high level!

"Why?" The stubbled man was utterly bewildered.

A very bad feeling began to rise in his heart.

"Just once, if he cuts me just once, it will definitely be a vital spot, and I will certainly die!"

As the thought emerged, a bloodline was drawn across his neck by the short blade.

— You're right, happy now?

After slashing the stubbled man's throat, Chu Huaixu kicked him sharply in the abdomen, sending him flying far away to maintain a safe distance to avoid any unexpected close-range incidents before his death was confirmed.

The opponent lay on the ground, body twitching, hands desperately clutching his neck, but blood kept flowing uncontrollably.

— The situation was settled.

Rain washed over his body, Chu Huaixu slightly lowered his head, sheathed his knife, calmly saying:

"If you're bad, practice more."

...

...

Chu Huaixu walked forward a few steps, picked up the oiled paper umbrella he had just thrown away, shook it, and brushed off the accumulated water.

He felt he had just looked very cool.

However, it wasn't long before he fell into a daze, followed by frustration, confusion, suspicion, and other complex emotions.

"What the hell! Where the hell is the 'log out of the game' button!"
