Chapter 54 - Usopp’s Past, and the “Yasopp Punitive Army”

Little Fisherman grinned and spent 2000 points on two Greenwood Chests.

This time he didn't materialize them—just cracked them open in his mind.

[You opened a Greenwood Chest and obtained: Body-Technique Attribute Point ×1]

[You opened a Greenwood Chest and obtained: Shakushi Attribute Point ×1]

"Nice, nice! A body-tech attribute point!"

He dumped both points in immediately.

With body-tech stepping up to Entry, his level jumped straight to Lv10—

and the system chimed again:

[Congrats! Reached Lv10 — Free Attribute Point ×1]

"Another free point?!"

Eyes shining, he tossed it onto Shakushi. The skill ticked from (Entry 1/2) to (Basic 0/3).

Chat went theory-crafting mode:

[Seems Lv10 always gives 1 free point]

[Abilities have tiers: body/sword need 3 to hit Basic, but blue skills like Shakushi only need 2]

[So ability rarity affects upgrade cost]

[Greenwood Chests spitting points ain't bad—grind points, roll boxes, profit]

Meanwhile, the game's surge + the editing contest and limited public test announcement lit up the creator scene.

Clips spread fast—Zoro's "Because we're crewmates" moment alone spawned a thousand edits.

At this pace, word-of-mouth was doing the marketing for Haifeng; a truly good game doesn't beg for ads.

Little Fisherman bent down and unstrapped the cat-claw gauntlets from Kuro's hands.

He tucked them away, beaming—his Shakushi was only Basic now, but once unleashed? It was a finisher.

They returned with Luffy to Kaya's mansion.

By evening, another warm banquet. This time Usopp didn't decline—he squeezed into a seat, fidgeting and flushed.

At the table, Luffy invited him aboard: "We still need a sniper."

Usopp, trembling with excitement, said yes. Kaya promised a ship as a send-off.

Next morning. A three-masted beauty waited at the dock—the Going Merry.

The Straw Hat crew's name and flag were officially set.

As Merry pulled away, Usopp stood on deck, waving his arms off toward the shore.

"Kaya! Take care of your health, okay?"

"Kaya! I'll come back to see you!"

"Kaya! I'll become a brave warrior of the sea, just like my father!"

Onshore, Kaya smiled and waved.

Villagers—who once scowled at Usopp—came out one by one, sending him off with real warmth:

"Be careful on the seas!"

"Come visit—this will always be your home!"

"We'll look after Miss Kaya, don't worry!"

The long-nosed "liar" crumpled. Tears flooded his eyes as he scrubbed his cheeks with his forearms, voice breaking.

Little Fisherman, Luffy and the others smiled quietly.

Then Usopp began to talk—and a memory rolled across the stream like film, letting everyone see where he came from.

"Pirates are coming!

I saw the ship my father sails on—they've landed!"

A tiny Usopp sprinted to a sickroom, peering at the frail woman in bed—his mother, sharing the same small long nose.

His mother stared back, eyes tender and pained.

"Don't be silly. Your father isn't coming back."

"Because I'm a pirate's son!"

He tried to sound brave—but collapsed over the blankets and sobbed.

"Mom… you won't die."

"Dad will come back to see you!"

"Mom… Mom!"

He buried his face in the sheets, crying until he ran dry. At last he lifted his head:

"Mom… I'll become a brave warrior of the sea."

Then came the scenes everyone knew—an orphan shouting "pirates are coming!" through Syrup Village, desperate for attention, earning only scorn.

Now it all made sense.

He was unbearably lonely.

And the line about becoming a brave warrior? It wasn't a boast. It was a promise born at a deathbed.

His father hadn't returned even when his mother was about to die.

Chat boiled.

[What kind of father does that?!]

[Your wife's dying and you don't come back?]

[Irresponsible! Is this what being a pirate means?]

[Why marry if you're just going to sail off forever?]

Little Fisherman and the viewers figured the dad was some nobody, probably dead somewhere.

Then Usopp casually said his father's name.

Fisherman froze. Chat froze.

[Wait… what did he just say?!]

["Yasopp"—did he say Yasopp?!]

[We all heard it!]

[Hold on—Kaka's stream had Yasopp mention a crybaby son in the East Blue!]

[NO WAY]

[Usopp's dad is YASOPP?!]

Rage flipped to shock, then to a mission.

A torrent of viewers warped to Xiao Kaka's stream.

Over there, after two days of sailing, her Red-Haired crew POV was nearing the Calm Belt.

She was narrating the dangers she'd learned from Shanks' crew.

"Guys, the Calm Belt's basically impassable for normal ships—massive Sea Kings, super lethal. Snake told me it's second only to the New World, even nastier than most of the Grand Line."

She blinked at the sudden wall of chat.

Then she strode into the cabin, where Yasopp was casually playing cards.

"Hey, Yasopp—didn't you say you had a crybaby son in the East Blue? What's his name?"

Yasopp didn't even look up.

"Why do you ask? …But yeah, my kid's a crybaby. His name is Usopp."

The stream went dead silent for a heartbeat—

and then exploded like a powder keg.
