The automated lights of the grand scoreboard flickered in rapid, merciless succession, the golden text updating as the remaining matches of the Round of Sixteen blurred into a high-speed exhibition of violence and tactical supremacy.
First came the collision of raw martial philosophy. Lucien Cain, an Emitter whose aura functioned like an unyielding atmospheric press, dismantled the intricate, traditional defensive parries of Jiro Takeda within three minutes. Jiro's fluid counter-strikes were simply crushed leaving the martial artist ringed-out and bloodied.
Next was the executioner's dance. Orion Drake, the legendary Hunter of Hunters, systematically picked apart the complex Conjuration traps of Solomon Black. Solomon's illusory shadows were torn to shreds the moment Orion unleashed his tracking Hatsu, ending the match with a clean, devastating strike to Solomon's solar plexus.
The crowd had barely settled before Cassandra Vale stepped onto the concrete against the heavy juggernaut Leon Voss. Leon's dense Ken armor looked impenetrable, but Cassandra's Transmutation style was a liquid poison; she bypassed his dense exterior by vibrating her aura through his armor's natural structural frequencies, forcing an immediate submission.
Then came the clash of speed. Mira Sol's blinding, light-based emission patterns completely overwhelmed the multi-layered offensive scripts of Yumi Kisaragi's Thousand Arms. Yumi's automated aura extensions were simply shredded by Mira's linear velocity before she could establish a defensive perimeter.
Finally, the bracket closed with the chilling efficiency of Viktor Richter against the agile Sora Bellamy. Sora blurred across the ring like a gust of wind, but Viktor's Hatsu was a sterile, absolute quarantine zone; the moment Sora stepped within his operating radius, his momentum was arrested entirely, leaving him open to a singular, bone-shattering palm strike that concluded the afternoon.
The chief announcer's voice boomed through the stadium speakers, carrying a dramatic, exhausting weight as the final digital bracket locked into place on the massive overhead monitors.
"And there we have it, ladies and gentlemen! The absolute pinnacle of combat! The Round of Sixteen has officially concluded, leaving only eight gods standing upon the mountain! The Quarter-Finals of the Battle Olympia will commence in exactly five days! Clear your schedules, double your wagers, and prepare yourselves for true enlightenment!"
As the eighty thousand fans began to pour out of the massive exit concourses, filling the neon-lit streets of the city with a chaotic, vibrating hum of conversation, Isaac Netero strolled through the elite VIP mezzanine. His hands were tucked deep into the loose sleeves of his traditional white kimono, his wooden clogs clicking rhythmically against the polished marble floor.
His small, glittering eyes scanned the thinning crowd before locking onto two figures walking toward a private elevator bay. One was a short, elderly man with a long silver mustache and a traditional tunic emblazoned with the characters for One Kill a Day, Zeno Zoldyck. Beside him stood a massive, broad-shouldered man with long, wild silver hair and piercing, feline eyes, Silva Zoldyck.
"Ho ho ho!" Netero wheezed happily, his voice cutting through the ambient noise as he practically glided across the floor to intercept them. "What a truly magnificent surprise! I didn't think the legendary operators of Kukuroo Mountain cared much for public theater!"
Zeno stopped, his hands tucked inside his long sleeves as he turned slowly, his wrinkled face forming a polite, yet completely detached expression. Silva stopped beside him, his massive frame radiating an immense, silent pressure that caused the passing elite security guards to instinctively step away.
"Chairman Netero," Zeno said, his voice a dry, gravelly rasp that carried the weight of a professional who had seen everything. "Out of respect for your position, we acknowledge the greeting. But we are merely travelers passing through the republic."
"Oh, don't be so cold, Zeno!" Netero laughed, his long white beard shaking as he leaned closer, his eyes narrowing into mischievous slits. "You've been sitting in the upper rafters since the first bell. Tell me... what does the grandmaster of assassination think of our little fledglings today? The magician? The white-haired boy?"
Silva's expression remained completely stoic, his voice dropping into a deep, rumbling baritone that carried zero emotional variance. "They possess functional systems. The magician's application of basic properties is efficient, and the prodigy understands spatial boundaries better than most veterans. But an arena is a controlled environment, Chairman. It lacks the... unpredictable variables of a true contract."
"Ho ho! Still so clinical, Silva!" Netero chuckled, waving his hand dismissively. "You Zoldycks never change. Always calculating the risk, never enjoying the flavor of the fight."
"Calculating the risk is why our family line remains unbroken," Zeno replied smoothly, his eyes drifting toward the closing elevator doors. "If you will excuse us, Chairman. We have a rather tight schedule to maintain."
"Of course, of course! Go on, don't let an old man keep you," Netero said, stepping back with a wide, innocent grin.
As the elevator doors slid shut, concealing the two assassins, Netero's smile slowly faded into a sharp, contemplative look. He stroked his chin, his small eyes staring at the brass doors. 'A tight schedule... inside the Heavens Arena? My, my... the storm clouds are gathering much faster than I anticipated.'
Deep within the subterranean labyrinth of the backstage competitor area, the atmosphere was entirely different.
Hisoka Morrow walked down the dimly lit corridors, his boots clicking erratically against the concrete. His painted face was twisted into a frantic, shuddering grimace of raw, unadulterated hunger. His aura was leaking out in erratic, jagged purple sparks that scraped against the walls, his fingers twitching violently as he flipped a single Joker card over his knuckles with terrifying speed.
"Where is he...?" Hisoka whispered, his voice a low, trembling hiss that sounded completely unhinged. "Where did the little bird fly to...?"
He rounded the corner into the primary waiting area, his eyes scanning the empty locker spaces. He had checked the medical bays, the observation balconies, and the recovery lounges. Yuzuki was entirely gone from the floor, his presence completely scrubbed from the immediate vicinity.
Hisoka stopped in the center of the room, his head tilting backward as a long, dejected sigh escaped his throat. The vibrant, euphoric high he had cultivated during his fight with Argo was rapidly cooling into a cold, hollow frustration. He slammed his palm against a steel locker, leaving a deep, dented imprint in the metal.
"So cruel, Yuzuki..." Hisoka purred softly, his expression turning into a dark, melancholic pout as he slid the card back into his sleeve. "Hiding away when the air is still so beautifully warm. Fine... run along. The five days will pass eventually... and the taste will only be sweeter when the fruit is ripe."

Hours later, on one of the exclusive upper floors of the Heavens Arena, the absolute quiet of the midnight hours was broken by the rhythmic, high-velocity crack of bare shins striking heavy, Nen-reinforced training pillars.
Yuzuki was inside his private, high-tech gymnasium. His white training jacket was thrown over a bench, leaving him in a simple black tank top, his skin glistening with a thick layer of sweat. The dark bandages over his eyes were tightly secured, but the intensity of the Six Eyes was radiating through the fabric, his bare blue perception entirely locked onto his own internal aura pathways.
CRACK!
He executed a flawless, blinding spinning back kick, the sheer kinetic transfer causing the massive steel-reinforced column to groan under the impact. He didn't use Blue or Red; he was training his baseline physical, pushing his muscular endurance to its absolute limits.
"Stop right there, you stubborn brat!"
Bisky's voice cut through the cavernous gym like a whip. She stood near the hydration station, her arms crossed over her chest, her face twisted into a fierce scowl. Her twin tails practically vibrated with motherly irritation.
"I've been watching you for three hours!" Bisky snapped, marching over and pointing a firm finger at his chest. "Your muscles are already entering a state of hyper-fatigue, and your internal aura circulation is showing clear signs of micro-stuttering from over-calculation. Training past the point of absolute physiological depletion doesn't make you stronger. It ruins your baseline plasticity! Go to bed!"
Yuzuki didn't drop his stance immediately. He took a slow, deep breath, his chest rising and falling as he slowly lowered his leg, his posture remaining slightly tense.
"I can't rest, Bisky," Yuzuki said, his voice completely devoid of its usual lazy, arrogant cadence. It was quiet, serious, and laced with a cold realism. "I mapped the data today. During the opening exchanges, I watched Chrollo Lucilfer, Hisoka, and Lucien Cain. Their baseline output... their operational efficiency... it's on a completely different level than anyone else in this tournament."
He wiped the sweat from his forehead, his eyes flashing behind the fabric. "If I go into the Quarter-Finals with my current speed, the math won't save me. They don't just use Hatsu; they inhabit it. I have to train twice as hard just to close the deficit."
Standing near the weight racks, Kastro slowly stepped forward, his long silver hair tied back, his arms crossed as he offered a quiet, understanding nod.
"I understand how he feels, Miss Biscuit," Kastro spoke up, his tone deeply respectful but firm. "When you stand on that stage and look across at a monster like Hisoka... you realize that standard human metrics don't apply. Yuzuki isn't training out of arrogance; he's training because he has looked into the abyss and realized how deep it actually is. As a martial artist, I cannot tell him to stop when his spirit is this sharp."
Bisky threw her hands up in absolute exasperation, looking around the empty gym. "Oh, wonderful! The silver-haired egoist is backing up the white-haired rookie! Where are Wing and Zushi when I actually need some rational voices around here?!"
She stomped her foot, realizing she was completely outnumbered with Wing currently managing an external Hunter Association seminar and Zushi training in the lower floors. "Fine! Two against one! Destroy your muscles if you want! But don't come crying to me when your Infinity script has a five-second delay because your brain is fried!"
Meanwhile, in the dimly lit luxury suite of a five-star hotel three blocks away from the arena, the atmosphere was thick with a completely different kind of professional focus.
Zeno Zoldyck sat cross-legged on a traditional tatami mat in the center of the room, idly sipping a cup of green tea. Silva stood by the massive floor-to-ceiling window, his heavy silhouette framed against the sprawling neon skyline of the city.
Sitting on the edge of a mahogany desk, idly flipping a sharp, custom Nen needle between his pale fingers, was Illumi Zoldyck. His large, pitch-black, lifeless eyes showed absolutely zero human emotion as he looked at his father and grandfather.
"The client's terms are absolute," Illumi spoke, his voice completely flat, like a recorded message. "The Kakin Prince, Tserriednich, has doubled the bounty. The requirement remains the complete extraction of Yuzuki's eyes, followed by his immediate termination. The Shadow Beasts have already been deployed by the Dons Mafia syndicates as well. Our luck this time to have the target of the 10 Dons and the Kakin Prince to be the same person."
Silva turned slowly from the window, his massive arms crossed over his chest. "The Shadow Beasts are undisciplined fodder. They rely too heavily on their grotesque Nen mutations and lack tactical discretion. Do not coordinate with them, Illumi. Let them act as the initial distraction."
"The boy is exceptionally strong," Zeno muttered, setting his teacup down with a soft click. "I analyzed his flow during his match with Kain Vortex. In a standard confrontation, he can calculate the trajectory of any standard projectile or physical strike perfectly."
"A perfect defense," Illumi noted, his needle stopping mid-flip. "Should we renegotiate the contract fee with the prince?"
"No," Silva stated firmly, his feline eyes flashing with a cold, absolute professionalism. "The Zoldyck name does not alter terms once the blood money has been accepted. Strong or not, he is a target. His spatial defense relies on his cognitive processing speed. If we overload his sensory input from multiple blind spots simultaneously while the Shadow Beasts crowd his perimeter... his calculation will fail."
Zeno slowly stood up, his hands disappearing back into his long sleeves as a cold, lethal serenity settled over his wrinkled face.
"The boy is a magnificent prodigy," Zeno whispered softly, heading toward the balcony doors. "A true work of art. It is almost a pity... but business is business. Let the Shadow Beasts open the gate... and we will finish it."
