CASSIAN
Cyan's eyes fluttered open. His face was flushed bright, burning red all the way to the tips of his ears.
He blinked rapidly, looking completely flustered, before he suddenly shoved his hands against my chest and took a clumsy step backward, wrapping his arms around himself.
"You—you absolute player," Cyan stammered, his voice cracking as he glared at me, trying desperately to salvage some piece of his shattered dignity. "How am I supposed to get over you when you keep flirting with me like that?!"
"I'm not flirting," I said, my voice entirely serious, holding his gaze. "I'm being honest."
Cyan let out a hysterical, breathless laugh, shaking his head. "That's the problem, Cassian! You're being honest, and it's completely unhelpful!"
Despite the heavy ache in my chest, a small, genuine warmth flickered to life.
