Chapter 14 - Odd Situations

The triplex penthouse the members lived in was truly incredible.

It had a modern, luxurious style, and even the entrance area was wider than anything Evelyn had ever seen in a home.

Most of the interiors were done in wood with light tones, so despite giving off the vibe of a five-star hotel, it also felt warm— like a real home.

The living room and the other rooms were lined with huge windows. The city view those windows offered was breathtaking.

Evelyn learned from Ash that her room was on the third floor of the triplex penthouse they were staying in.

There were three rooms on each floor, and eight of them were bedrooms. On the third floor were the bedrooms of Ivan, Angelo, and Evelyn.

Before going to her own room, she spent some time gazing at the cityscape through a large window in the living room.

Since it was already dark outside, the lights shining from some of the buildings looked like stars scattered across the sky. Once everyone retreated to their rooms, she went upstairs and entered hers as well.

Strangely, her room was quite plain.

It looked like a freshly cleaned hotel room. Other than a few blank notebooks and some pens on the desk across from her bed, there was nothing else. In the right corner of the room stood a black guitar.

Although she was first surprised that her room was so ordinary, she then remembered that the world she was in belonged to a first-person RPG game.

In these kinds of games, the main character was usually kept simple and basic— after all, no matter their age or background, players needed to be able to insert themselves onto the protagonist.

At least for Evelyn, that must be the reason why it was too plain.

After placing her bag on the corner of the bed, Evelyn sat down at the edge and let out a deep sigh. She still had trouble believing she had transmigrated into a game.

She wasn't even sure if what she was experiencing right now was real.

After quietly staring at the empty room for a while, she pulled her phone from her pocket and opened her contacts. She scrolled through it for a bit, and then something suddenly occurred to her.

She searched for the name Adelyn — her younger sister. But, unsurprisingly, nothing came up.

Then Angelo's words came to her mind, and she muttered, "Ah… right."

Angelo had said the "main character's" younger sister had died years ago. So it was normal for her not to appear on the phone.

Though, the main character's sister's name could've been something entirely different.

Still, Evelyn had expected her sister to exist in this world under the same name, because her own name —and even her appearance— were completely identical in this world.

Evelyn turned her eyes toward the mirror across from her bed. After staring at herself for a moment, she placed her phone on the bed, stood up, and began examining her reflection more closely.

"I look exactly the same, but I definitely look healthier…" she murmured to herself.

Evelyn was still in the same body, yet she looked very different from just a few days ago.

Her black hair was longer and shinier, there were no dark circles under her eyes, and her well kept skin glowed softly.

And yet… something felt missing. Her eyes looked more tired, maybe even a little sad.

Or perhaps that was just how they seemed to her at that moment.

Evelyn stepped away from the mirror and walked back toward her bed. She picked up the bag she had left at the corner and took out the outfit inside.

According to the nurses, she had worn this outfit before the accident— when she was on stage.

She pulled out the dark blue dress from her bag and laid it on the bed to look at it.

It was the kind of dress Evelyn had never worn in her entire life. It was the kind that would end a few centimeters above her knees, with its straps slipping off her shoulders.

The beads embroidered across the midnight blue fabric sparkled like stars decorating the night sky. When she touched the ruffled hem, she could feel the quality of the material.

"So I'm going to be wearing things like this now…" she murmured.

For a few seconds, she imagined herself wearing the dress— singing under the stage lights. Even the thought alone was beautiful and blinding.

On a sudden impulse, she decided to try the dress on. She didn't really care whether it was clean or not, since she was going to take a shower soon anyway. But just as she was pulling off her t-shirt, the door suddenly opened, so she froze.

The moment Angelo stepped inside and saw Evelyn undressing —standing there in a black bra, her stomach exposed— he immediately slammed the door shut.

The last thing Evelyn saw was the shocked expression on Angelo's face.

Laughing at how absurd the situation was, she stopped taking off her clothes and pulled her t-shirt back into place.

Evelyn fixed her clothes and then opened the door. When she saw what was in front of her, she felt even more like laughing.

Angelo had his face covered with both hands, his head slightly lowered. Evelyn touched his shoulder and made him look at her.

"Relax, it's not like you saw me naked."

Angelo's cheeks were slightly red, and after hearing that from Evelyn, he blushed even more and lowered his head again.

"Uh, I— I came to ask how you were. If… If you want, I can come back later… or if you're fine, I'll just go…"

Before Angelo even waited for a response from her, he hurried away at a near running pace. Evelyn wanted to reach out and stop him, but he left too quickly— almost as if he was running away.

Evelyn hadn't really minded being half-naked in front of him. For some reason, she felt a sense of trust toward Angelo. Maybe it was because he looked more innocent compared to the other members— she wasn't really sure.

After Angelo hurried away, Evelyn returned to her bed and tried on the dress. It fit her perfectly.

You might think that's not something surprising, but for Evelyn, it still seemed like she was struggling to process certain things… Like even though this is a game world, everything belonging to the 'main character' fits her a bit too well.

After trying on the dress and examining herself for a few minutes, she went into the bathroom and took a shower. She stayed under the water longer than she meant to, lost in thought.

When she stepped out and slipped into the bathrobe she found in the cabinet, she went back to her room and opened her wardrobe to check her clothes. She picked out a light pink pajama set with tiny cat drawings on it, placed it on her bed, and she began to take off her bathrobe.

Just then, the door opened again and she came face to face with Julian. As soon as she saw Julian, Evelyn wrapped the bathrobe back around herself, then turned her back and clutched the bathrobe even tighter.

"Oh my god, what the hell are you doing?!"
