Amara pushed the door of the hotel suite open, and the first thing she saw was Elias sitting on the couch with his phone in his hand.
Just looking at him, she could see his body still as stone, and his face unreadable. The faint light from the window painted him in a pale grey hue. He looked sick. Extremely disgusted.
For a second, she thought maybe she'd walked into the wrong room again. But then his gaze lifted, and the world remembered itself.
He was there. And worse, he was looking at her.
"Long day?" he asked quietly.
His voice was unreasonably calm.
She dropped her purse on the counter and let out a dry laugh. "You've been sitting there the whole time?"
He nodded once, sliding the phone onto the table. "Apparently, the internet moves really fast."
That stopped her.
Her heart stuttered a little before she caught sight of the glowing screen on the coffee table. She didn't even need to walk closer to see what it was.
