"Before we start, I would like to know how well you know this city, so that we can avoid some common places, if you want." Elderwood asked as they started to head deep into the city.
"I'm paying you a thousand CP," Reever replied, "so show me every corner. I want the full experience."
" No problem." he said. " This city is split into several categories. We have the administration, the armory, the business area and the living quarters. The whole city is surrounded by a circular wall. And trust me, they are so tough that only legendary ranked players have a means of going through them. The moment you have entered this city, you will be given an entry pass at the administration block. Lose it, and entering this city will be a pipe dream." Elderwood warned.
Reever nodded as they walked through the city.
The four regions I mentioned are separated by walls. Mostly, this isn't for security—it helps newcomers navigate the city with less confusion."
I forgot to mention that world communities are separated by ranks. This city is among the lowest ranked cities out there. It is mostly full of Rookie ranked players and few Veteran players. Elite players can be counted in one hand. For the newbies who join this game, this city, and few others, act as a solitude for them, where they can get to escape the chaos out there.
But here is the catch. Not all players are privileged to enter this city and have a home inside. Unless you get to play five matches and win, this city would only be a myth.
You see the tall building at the center, that's the administration building, and it will be our last stop." Elderwood stopped as he pointed at the towering building that stood at the center of the city. It was nothing fancy, as it was fully metal, but the unfanciness carried an authority and charisma compared to the other fancy buildings.
" But before we head there, we will start with the first sector of the city, the armory. As the name suggests, it is where weapons are fixed and can buy special bullets and other necessities. If you never knew, weapons are automatically made by the system, and there are almost zero forgers in the entire planet. If you want a perfect customized weapon, only grandmasters and legendary players have the privilege as the weapon smiths are only found in those ranks.
Another thing that you will find in this sector is a library. All the blocks have a library, so there is nothing special about it. You will be able to get the history of this game." Elderwood explained as they came close to a statue.
" Yo B, is this what I think it is?" A mentally asked B, after seeing the statue, who had been silent since they entered the city.
" I also can not believe it. This is just too much. Hey, rub off the smug on your face!" B protested after noticing Reever putting on a big smile after seeing the statue.
The statue was not just a typical statue. It stood out as a striking monument, a frozen image of a familiar warrior. The warrior was covered head to toe in sleek, dark armor, which had a smooth, metallic look, almost like a polished stone. The suit he wore was complex, with sharp angles and a layered plates that gave it a dangerous, futuristic appearance. It had tiny blue glowing lines along the edges. The helmet was smooth and featureless, but hid a face Reever could never forget.
The statue posed in a powerful stance, holding a well known signature weapon for the character behind the mask, DL Q33 weapon. The character depicted in the statue was none other than our guy Reever.
" I can see that you are mesmerized by this character. Well, everyone always does. The best player to have ever existed on this planet. A man who is an army by himself. Can handle any weapon to perfection. Reever is the man. May the gods bless his soul.
Every world community has four statues of him. He is the symbol of unity, strength and perfection to every player. Ever since the game evolved, immediately after his death, countless players have tried to live upto the legacy but no one has ever managed to do so. The developers of the game said that the evolved game was build with his skills and reactions and everything else as the frameworks." Elderwood explained, his eyes shining with adore and respect. One could feel a trace of worship as he spoke of the legendary character.
" Well I'll be damned A. Never knew that we were a celebrity. Even in death, the world worships us and adore us. Man. If they knew that you are alive, I wonder what their reactions will be." B mocked as soon as he heard the myths of Reever.
" Well who knows what they will do. But I do not care about that for now as we need to play low key. I am really interested in knowing how many years have passed but by doing that, Elderwood would think that I have a problem somewhere. You have heard that every city has my statue, and this means that every being knows about my history and everything else. We need to play it cool and flow with the flow." Reever said.
" Do your weapons need any fixing or you are ok with them?" Elderwood asked, but Reever shook his head.
" When we come to every statue, we have to bow in respect. The legendary Reever was and is the father of this modern game." he said as he bowed slightly to the statue. Reever did the same, though a mix of embarrassment and pride filled his heart.
" I can not believe that I am bowing to myself. But it feels good to know that I never died in vain." he comforted himself before the duo continued with their journey around the city.
"I can tell you, Mr. 067, that all cities are safe. No one is allowed to harm each other no matter what If one does so, they are banned from all the cities for a whole year." Elderwood warned.
" Does this mean that one can sacrifice their comfort in the city and harm a player.?" Reever innocently asked.
" No. The moment the city detects any malicious intent or killing intent, it sends you directly to the administrator's block where you are judged and warned. So please, if someone harms you outside the city, never dare to harm them in here." he warned as they came close to a hall with a Library sign written on it.
"Before continuing, experience the library. Knowledge here is power," he said. Elderwood said as he summoned a token and swiped it on the door, granting both him and Reever access to the world of books and.
" Damn, I always hated the library." B complained as if he had faced his worst nightmare.
" Do not worry, I never liked books too. But we need it to know what happened after our death." A comforted.
