Chapter 110 - Playing dirty.

"You've got a good set of skills despite your weakness," Conner said, wiping the blood that had stained his face.

"But do not think that we are done. I will show you my true power, and you shall never mess with me again." His aura flared once more, rising in intensity as his wounds began to mend at a visible rate.

Reever wasn't injured at all. Of course, even if he were, he wouldn't feel it. But his armor had small tears that failed to mend themselves, and that disturbed him. The twin silver blades Conner wielded clearly had something to do with it.

"Time to play dirty," he muttered as he summoned two fire grenades and hurled them toward Conner in an instant.

Boom.

Boom.

They exploded simultaneously, cutting short Conner's movement. Though he shielded himself with his swords, the force of the blasts threw him backward, creating distance between them.

"You fucking bastard," he hissed as the silver shield faded. He summoned another suit as the previous one turned to dust.

"I wonder why he wears a suit on a battlefield," Reever thought as he launched more explosives toward him.

He was done playing fair, especially against a monster like Conner—someone with monstrous skills and far greater battle experience. As long as he won, everything would be fine. After all, this was only a game to Conner and the others; they wouldn't die completely. History was written by the victors, and he intended to be one.

The bombs detonated again, and Conner's shield dimmed further.

Reever fired web bullets next, intending to trap him, but Conner parried them cleanly with his blades.

"Aaaah, you bastard. You will now face my wrath."

"Limitless Assault."

He roared as weapons manifested out of thin air, infinitely forming, all pointing toward their target—Reever.

Reever wasn't tense in the slightest. He glanced briefly at the dying queen.

"Deploy!" Conner roared as the weapons vanished and reappeared before Reever.

"Camouflage."

Reever disappeared once more. The weapons missed their mark, crashing violently into the ground.

"F**k. How does he keep missing my attacks? Limitless Assault marks the target and ensures their death. Even with his invisibility, he is supposed to fall to this move," Conner thought as he wiped blood from his mouth.

The technique had taken a toll on him. With no external energy reserves left, he was using his own energy to sustain it, and it drained him severely.

Reever materialized before Conner, golden trident in hand, and slammed it down with tremendous force.

Conner anticipated it. He dodged easily and drove one of his swords into Reever's shoulder.

"F**k. I'm stabbed," Reever cursed as he activated Camouflage and reappeared several meters away. One of his arms became inactive. Luckily, he did not bleed nor feel pain, but fighting with one hand was deeply unsettling.

"What are you?" Conner asked when he noticed there wasn't a drop of blood on his blade—and his opponent showed no sign of pain.

"Well, I am your nightmare," Reever mocked as he hurled more explosives toward him.

"Fk. Fk. F**k." Conner cursed as his sword formed another shield, absorbing the damage from the blasts.

"Limitless Assault!" he roared again as more weapons formed midair, locking onto their target before deploying once more.

Just like before, Reever evaded effortlessly. The weapons struck the ground, carving massive pits into the cavern floor.

"Stop wasting your energy on attacks that do not bite," Reever mocked, and Conner frowned.

But deep down, Conner wasn't disappointed in the slightest. With every explosion Reever sent at him, his energy reservoirs were quietly refilling.

Reever had forgotten this special ability of Conner's. The more damage his shield absorbed, the more power it stored for his next attack. Now Conner was certain he could unleash the skill three more times before his energy ran low.

He raised his swords into an X shape as they began to charge.

Seeing this, Reever hurled more grenades toward him, and Conner absorbed them effortlessly with his shield.

That was exactly what Conner wanted—to frighten Reever enough that he kept sending explosives, unknowingly charging him further.

"Dummy. You are mine now," he roared as his aura peaked once again, ready to unleash an even more powerful attack toward Reever.
