Chapter 41 - Paranoia

Isabelle paced in her chambers, her mind racing with worst-case scenarios. Aaron stood by the window, watching her with concern.

"Isabelle, please," Aaron said, his voice calm and soothing. "We need to focus on finding Roman before it's too late."

Isabelle spun around, her eyes flashing with fear. "You don't understand, Aaron. He's been planning this for years. He'll stop at nothing to destroy me, and then he'll come for the others."

Aaron's expression turned determined. "We'll find him, Isabelle. We have our best trackers on it. But we need you to stay calm and think clearly."

Isabelle took a deep breath, trying to rein in her panic. "I know he's been gathering dark magic. The Khragixx... he'll unleash it on the world. We have to stop him."

Aaron nodded. "We'll do everything we can. Let's review the intelligence we have and come up with a plan."

The meeting room fell silent as Eris shared her findings. "I sensed dark energy in the old ruins on the outskirts of the kingdom. It's faint, but it's definitely there."

Ares nodded, his eyes locked on the map spread out before them. "That's likely where Roman is hiding. Eryx, go with Eris. See what you can find."

Eryx stood, he's hand on the hilt of his sword. "Let's go."

As they prepared to depart, Isabelle's voice stopped them. "Be careful.Roman's not to be underestimated."

Eris nodded, a determined look on her face. "We'll be fine, We've got this."

The trio set out, their senses on high alert as they approached the ruins.

Meanwhile, Roman in the shadows, his eyes gleaming with malevolent intent. He began to chant, and the air around him began to distort as portals started opening across the realm.

Eryx's eyes widened as they scanned the horizon. "Eris, it's not just one location. The dark energy is coming from everywhere."

Eris's gaze followed Eryx's, and her face paled. "Oh no... it's portals. Roman's opening portals everywhere."

The air seemed to ripple and distort as more portals appeared, their dark, swirling centers spewing forth an unending tide of shadowy creatures. Eryx and Eris exchanged a grim look.

"We need to get back to the others," Eryx said, his voice firm. "We can't take on this many demons alone."

Eris nodded, and together they turned to make their way back to the fae kingdom. But as they ran, the portals seemed to be multiplying, surrounding them with an inescapable nightmare.

"Roman's plan is bigger than we thought," Eris panted, dodging a demonic creature. "We have to warn the others."

Eryx's sword flashed in the fading light. "We'll get through this. We just need to—"

A deafening roar echoed through the air, cutting Eryx off. The ground shook beneath their feet as a massive, dark shape emerged from one of the portals.

"It's not just demons," Eris whispered, her eyes fixed on the horror before them. "It's something much worse."

The shape grew larger, its presence filling the air with an unspeakable malevolence. Eryx and Eris stood frozen, their hearts pounding in their chests, as the darkness closed in around them. Isabelle nodded, her brow furrowed with concern. "Be careful, Eryx. Roman's power grows by the minute. We don't know what kind of traps or minions he'll have waiting for you."

Eryx's eyes flashed with a fierce look . "I'll be fine,I've faced worse odds before."
