Chapter 43 - Sapphire Kingdom

Crimson stood before King Ryker, his father, and recounted his accomplishments with a confident smile. "I've stopped the dragons from attacking us, Father, and l've ended those foolish deals of giving them gold. From now on, we'll be stronger and more prosperous without relying on their charity."

King Ryker's face lit up with pride, and he nodded his approval. "Well done, Crimson. You've proven yourself to be a worthy leader.

Crimson stood before King Ryker, his father, and made his request. "Father, I need a large number of warriors. The fae kingdom is under attack by demons, and I plan to lead our forces to help them."

King Ryker's expression turned serious, and he stroked his beard thoughtfully. "A large number of warriors, you say? That's a significant request. What makes you think this is our fight?"

Crimson's jaw clenched. "I need a large number of warriors to help me stop the demons and close the portal. But there's more. I've discovered that Roman, the fae first prince, plans to free the Khragixx." The king's eyes widened in horror.

"The Khragix? You mean the ancient beings of darkness? If Roman succeeds, it will mean catastrophe for our world."

Crimson nodded. "I know, Father.

That's why I need your help. We can't let Roman unleash that kind of destruction. I need warriors, and I need them now."

"I'll give you the warriors you need, Crimson. We'll do whatever it takes to stop Roman and close that portal."the king said with concern.

Crimson's eyes locked onto his father's, a mix of emotions swirling inside him. He couldn't believe the king's nonchalant demeanor, the way he seemed to be playing the part of the concerned father and ruler. It was almost... calculated.

As he gazed at the king, Crimson's mind flashed back to the revelation about his truth and what Ares told him.He had been told that the king was not his father, but now he knew that was true.

The king's actions, his words, everything seemed to take on a different meaning.

The king, oblivious to Crimson's inner turmoil, nodded and began to discuss the logistics of gathering the warriors and preparing for battle.

Crimson's voice was low and even, but it carried a weight of emotion that made the king's eyes snap to his.

"Why did you lie to me?" Crimson asked, his words hanging in the air like a challenge.

The king's expression faltered for a moment, before he regained his composure. "What are you talking about, Crimson?" he asked, his voice measured.

Crimson's eyes narrowed. "Don't play dumb with me, Father. I know the truth. I'm not your son, am I? And I think you know more about the Vivere and Roman's plans than you're letting on."

The king's face went still, his eyes glinting with a mixture of surprise and wariness. "How did you...?" he trailed off, his voice dying away.

Crimson's voice was cold. "That's not important right now. What's important is that you tell me the truth. What are you planning? What do you know about Roman and the Vivere?"

The king's eyes seemed to cloud over, a mixture of desperation and calculation in his gaze. "Roman promised me power and safety," he said, his voice low and rough. "He promised that if I helped him, he'd make sure our kingdom was protected from the coming darkness.

He told me that with the Khragixx on our side, we'd be unstoppable."

Crimson's eyes widened in shock, a cold feeling spreading through his chest. "You offered him the Vivere," he repeated, his voice barely above a whisper.

The king's face twisted in a mixture of guilt and determination. "I did what I had to do, Crimson. I did it to protect our kingdom, to ensure our survival. I didn't know what else to do."

Crimson's voice was heavy with disgust. "You sold out to Roman, didn't you? You knew what he was capable of, and you still chose to side with him."

The king's eyes flashed with anger, but Crimson could see the fear and uncertainty lurking beneath. "You don't understand, Crimson. You don't know what it's like to have the weight of an entire kingdom on your shoulders. I did what I thought was best for our people."

The king's eyes seemed to well up with tears, his voice cracking with emotion. "I'm just a human being, Crimson. I'm not a god, I'm not invincible. I was faced with forces beyond my control, and I did what I thought would save our kingdom.

When I found out you were a Demi god, I knew I had to claim you, to protect you, to use your power to save our people."

He took a step closer, his voice pleading. "I know I've made mistakes, Crimson. I know l've kept secrets from you, and lied to you. But I did it all for you, for our kingdom. I wanted to give you the best chance to survive in a world that's full of monsters and darkness."

The king's words hung in the air, a mix of desperation and sadness.

Crimson could see the weight of his responsibilities bearing down on him, the crushing pressure of trying to protect his kingdom and his people. It was a heavy burden to carry, and Crimson could understand why the king had made the choices he did.

But understanding didn't mean forgiveness, and Crimson wasn't sure if he was ready to forgive just yet but he had to forgive him, looking at the king he said "I can forgive you,if you're ready to change"

The king's eyes locked onto Crimson's, a glimmer of hope flickering to life. "Change?" he repeated, his voice barely above a whisper. "You mean, you'd forgive me if l... if I turn against Roman and help you stop him?"

Crimson nodded, his expression resolute. "Yes, that's exactly what I mean. We can work together to stop Roman and the Khragixx. We can find a way to save our kingdom and the fae realm. But I need you to be honest with me, to work with me, and to help me stop this threat."

The king's face contorted in a mixture of emotions, as if he was wrestling with his own demons. For a moment, Crimson wondered if he'd made a mistake, if the king would refuse and try to continue down the path he'd chosen.

But then, slowly, the king nodded. "I'll do it, Crimson. I'll help you. I'll do whatever it takes to make things right."

The king's voice trembled slightly as he spoke, "I'm scared of the Khragixx, Crimson. I've heard the stories, the whispers of its power and the destruction. When Roman came to me, asking for the Vivere, I didn't want to give it to him at first. I knew it was a risk, that it could spell disaster for our kingdom."

He paused, taking a deep breath before continuing, "But Roman... he wasn't just asking. He was threatening. He promised me power and safety for our kingdom if I agreed to help him. He promised that the Khragixx would protect us, that we'd be safe."

The king's eyes looked haunted, his expression twisted in a mixture of fear and regret. "I was blinded by my own desperation, Crimson. I didn't think about the consequences, about what could happen if Roman succeeded. I just wanted to protect our kingdom, to keep our people safe."

He looked at Crimson, pleading for understanding. "I know l've made mistakes, Crimson. I know I've put our kingdom in danger. But I want to make it right. I want to help you stop Roman and the Khragixx."

"I'll give you the warriors you need, Crimson. We'll work together to stop Roman and the Khragixx. The humans may not have the same magical abilities as the fae or the strength of the dragons, but we have something that can be a powerful advantage: numbers."

He smiled grimly. "We'll gather every able-bodied man and woman, and we'll march to the fae realm to help you stop Roman and his plans. We'll show him that humans won't be easily swayed by promises of power and safety."

The king's expression turned resolute. "We'll make this right, Crimson. We'll stop Roman and the Khragixx, and we'll secure a future for our kingdom and the world ."

The king's voice rang out, his words carrying across the gathered warriors. "Keep watch, men! Be on alert! The portals can appear at any moment, and we don't know when or where they'll strike next. Stay vigilant, stay sharp!"

The human warriors nodded, their faces set with determination. They knew the stakes, and they were ready to face whatever lay ahead.

The king's words were a reminder that the battle wasn't just about the fae realm - it was about protecting their own kingdom, their own people.

As the warriors took up their positions, Crimson couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and gratitude towards the king. Despite his past mistakes, the king was committed to helping them, and he was willing to put everything on the line to stop Roman and the Khragixx.

As Crimson led the human warriors to the fae kingdom, they moved swiftly and cautiously, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger. However, unlike the dragons, they didn't encounter many demons on their way. The portals seemed to be concentrated on the other side of the realm, and the human warriors were able to march without facing significant resistance.

The relative ease of their journey allowed them to make good time, and soon they saw the fae kingdom in the distance. The kingdom's walls were fortified, and the fae warriors were arrayed along the battlements, watching the approaching army with a mixture of curiosity and wariness.

Crimson rode at the head of the human warriors, his eyes fixed on the fae kingdom. He could sense the weight of the coming battle, and he knew that their alliance would be tested in the days ahead. But for now, he was determined to see this through, to protect the fae realm and the human kingdom from the threat of Roman and the Khragixx.
