Webster's POV
I'd never seen Kevin like this before. To me, he'd always been the steady, mature type. Even when everyone believed Patricia was dead, he hadn't cracked like this.
Reality hit me hard, and rage exploded in my chest. I lunged at Jerry, grabbing his collar with both hands. "What the hell did you do to Kevin?"
Jerry remained ice-cold, easily peeling my fingers away. "Whatever we did, we were just following Sallie's orders."
"Help us track her down, make her settle what she owes, and throw in some extra for ransom. Do that, and we'll release him," he continued.
His performance as a money-hungry thug was flawless—I bought every word. I glared at him with pure contempt. "This is kidnapping. It's illegal."
Jerry laughed, completely unfazed. "If we weren't ready for this, we wouldn't have snatched Kevin and kept him locked up this long. Go ahead, call the cops. Let's see who shows up first—them, or Kevin's final moment."
