Chapter 106 - Predictable Military, Revelations by Susan

At Horn TV Station, Jameson was teaching Melinda, "Melinda, your previous report wasn't too problematic, but you forgot to add a reasonable inference."

Melinda was puzzled, "A reasonable inference?"

Jameson nodded, "Yes, the American Military won't allow a single bug to escape Brooklyn. They might use incendiary bombs to incinerate the streets and completely deal with Sloan and his puppets."

"Editor-in-Chief, is this information from the mysterious person?"

"No, it's my reasonable inference."

Jameson said, "Do you think the audience will believe my inference?"

"Yes."

Melinda thought for a moment and nodded with certainty. What couldn't the American Military do? Last time, those bastards even wanted to bomb Broadway Avenue.

Melinda would find it normal if the military dropped a nuclear bomb on Manhattan one day.

"That's good then, Melinda. Work hard. When this matter is over, I'll give you a special column specifically reporting on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s deception of the public, abuse of power, and invasion of privacy."

Jameson encouraged her, "This year's Pulitzer Prize went to Roxanne, but next year it might be yours."

"Thank you for your guidance, Editor-in-Chief."

Melinda said, but her heart was pounding. An anti-S.H.I.E.L.D. pioneer? When she returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. in the future, would her colleagues backstab her?

On the other side, Nick Fury was calling the American Military, telling them not to act rashly, as S.H.I.E.L.D. could handle the matter.

The people from the American Military were a bit embarrassed. We're just discussing, how did you know what we wanted to do?

"Nick Fury, one hour. If you can't deal with those monsters within one hour, we will intervene."

A general said, "Peace Knights, Mutant, Sloan, a group of serious criminals. We have too many reasons to act."

"We will resolve this matter as quickly as possible."

Nick Fury hung up the phone. Now he could only hope the Superheroes would be more effective, or that a certain someone would be in a better mood.

The building occupied by Sloan was a commercial high-rise with dozens of floors. Everyone inside had been turned into puppets by him. He hid in the conference room controlling the bugs, with Fire Fox and others guarding him.

Additionally, outside the conference room were Coulson and a group of heavily armed police officers. They had rushed out to maintain order and were all captured by Sloan.

As for the other puppets, they were spread throughout the building. Sloan was very afraid of death, after all, he was the man who was going to be the King of New York.

At this moment, Iron Man, Human Torch, and Dr. Reed arrived one after another—Stone Man was completely stuck in the bar and unable to leave, having sacrificed himself to allow Human Torch and Dr. Reed to escape.

Dr. Reed asked Tony through his communicator, "Tony, can you hack into the surveillance of this building?"

"Sloan isn't that stupid. He cut off the surveillance long ago."

Tony shook his head and said, "According to my Scanner, there are people on every floor. We have to search ourselves."

"This is troublesome. Without further ado, let's get started quickly."

Dr. Reed stretched his hands to grab the railing above, then he contracted and flew up the building.

"I always feel like your ability isn't quite proper."

Tony secretly complained. Just as he was about to act, the two Spider-Men and Susan arrived. Then, Gwen introduced Susan's ability to Iron Man, "Once we find Sloan, I'll take Susan over and have her ambush Sloan."

"Good plan."

Tony first nodded, then complained, "But Ms. Stone, why don't you call your boyfriend over? Your boyfriend can easily solve this matter."

Gwen couldn't help but glance at Susan. It seemed she hadn't lied before; her boyfriend was as powerful as her own boyfriend.

It's worth mentioning that Gwen didn't know Andrew was Ghost Rider; she only knew her boyfriend was a Kung Fu Master, Gun God, and a reporter.

Human Torch asked curiously, "Is my future brother-in-law that powerful?"

Tony said, "More powerful than you imagine. Don't look at how lively the fight is here; once he arrives, he'll solve everything in a minute. Unfortunately, he's too lazy."

"He's not lazy; he can't act freely."

Susan shook her head, "Besides, he said that only humans can save humanity. If other races intervene, humanity will pay a price.

For example, a thousand years ago, when the Frost Giant invaded Earth, God King Odin led the Asgardian army to help Earth defeat the Frost Giant. Afterward, Asgard became the suzerain state of Earth."

"What?"

Everyone present, including Nick Fury at S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, was dumbfounded. Frost Giant invading Earth? Asgard and Odin really exist? And Asgard is Earth's suzerain state? Is this true or false? Why do they know nothing about it?

Susan said, "Since angels exist, isn't it normal for Odin to exist?"

"You actually have a point."

Tony said. At this moment, Nick Fury said, "We'll talk about Asgard and Odin later. First, let's deal with that disgusting guy, Sloan."

"Okay."

Everyone stopped talking nonsense and entered the building from different positions, beginning their search for Sloan.

At S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters, Nick Fury secretly clenched his fist. Given Andrew Wang's personality, he wouldn't speak carelessly, which meant Asgard and Odin were real.

Nick Fury thought firmly, "At a time like this, how can I step down? Earth needs me."

The building was full of puppets. Seeing Iron Man and the others rush in, they immediately attacked. Iron Man didn't want to kill them, so he blasted them away with the weakest pulse cannons and continued searching for Sloan.

The others were the same; they were all Superheroes and wouldn't kill innocent people. This made their search difficult. There were simply too many puppets, and they were all fearless.

"A bunch of idiots."

Sloan sneered, commanding a group of recently controlled SWAT officers to return to the building—these SWAT officers were not only fully armed but also obtained a large amount of military supplies from the police station, making them quite formidable.

Sloan's idea was good, but what he didn't expect was that just one minute later, the two Spider-Men came knocking.

That's right, Spider-Man and Spider-Woman found their way simultaneously. It wasn't luck; it was their Spider-Sense at work. Spider-Sense isn't just ordinary intuition; when maximized, it can even sense the future.

Sloan cursed and ordered the police officers in the hallway outside, "Kill them."

The police officers wasted no words and immediately opened fire on the two Spider-Men with a volley of shots. The two Spider-Men leaped onto the walls and ceiling, nimbly dodging bullets.

Then, both Spider-Men simultaneously fired webs at the police officers. The difference was that Peter's webs were just ordinary webs; even when caught, many police officers could still shoot.

However, Gwen's webs were electrified. After being caught, the opponents immediately convulsed and fell down.

Spider-Man watched with a bit of envy. It wasn't that he didn't want equipment, but he didn't have the money to buy it. The most valuable thing he owned was that second-hand motorcycle, which, well, had just been stolen, and he didn't know if he could get it back.

Without a motorcycle, he couldn't deliver food. Without delivering food, he couldn't pay rent. Without paying rent, he would be kicked out. Sigh, why does the future feel so bleak?
