The bald executive was not who Zane Blackwood expected.
Zane was interested in Amazon stock, but this man was the boss of Pixar and the founder of Apple! He had a sharp eye for any new idea on the internet.
"Lasseter," the executive whispered to his friend, "after the movie, go and talk to Zane Blackwood. I want to know everything about his connection to this ICQ software."
"Alright, I understand," Lasseter said. He was smart enough to know exactly what his boss was thinking.
In the movie...
The next morning, Juno sat on a sofa on the lawn outside Paul Rick's house. She had an old-fashioned pipe in her mouth and looked very serious.
"Guess what," Juno said.
"What?" Rick asked, confused.
"I'm pregnant."
Rick froze. He couldn't move. He couldn't speak. He was just a kid himself! How could he handle this?
Juno squeezed the pipe in her hand. Her tough-girl act disappeared, and tears filled her eyes. She looked scared and vulnerable.
They were both filled with regret and confusion. They didn't know what to do.
Finally, Juno, who was strong and proud, decided she would handle it alone. She went home.
At dinner, Juno wanted to ask her parents for help. But she couldn't bring herself to say the words. She kept her secret.
A few days later, Juno made a choice. She decided to have the baby.
But she was just a child herself! How could she be a mother?
"Every baby wants to come into this world!"
She remembered these words as she stood outside a clinic. She saw a classmate protesting outside, holding a sign with a baby on it.
Juno felt conflicted. Should she go through with it?
Then, she had a surprising idea.
"I have a plan," she told her friend Leah. "I'll have the baby... and then give it to someone who needs him. Like a couple who can't have children."
Leah nodded. "You should check the classified ads in the newspaper. People put ads in there looking for babies to adopt. It's like they're shopping for a product."
"Of course," Leah added quickly, "it's completely legal."
They found a couple: Mark and Vanessa Rowling. They seemed perfect.
...
Since Juno was keeping the baby, she had to tell her parents. She couldn't hide her growing belly forever.
"I'm pregnant," Juno said. "And I plan to have it."
Her stepmother gasped. "Oh my God."
Her dad slapped his knee in shock. "You're having a baby?"
"Juno," her stepmother said gently, "that's a very difficult decision. You don't understand what you're doing."
"I do understand!" Juno said, gritting her teeth. "It's just... I'm not ready to be a mother."
Her dad finally exploded. "Damn right, you're not! You can't even remember to give your sister her allergy medicine!"
Juno left the room silently.
Once she was gone, her dad's anger melted away. He just looked sad and worried. "Tell me," he asked his wife, "is this my fault?"
The stepmother shook her head. "When kids get to this age, things happen. You can't control everything."
"I'm not ready to be a grandpa," he sighed. "And you... you don't seem surprised. Did you know?"
The stepmother nodded. Even though she wasn't Juno's real mom, she loved her like one. She had even given up having a dog because Juno was allergic.
"I suspected," the stepmother said with a sad smile. "I was hoping she just got suspended from school or started smoking or something."
"Me too," the dad agreed. "I didn't expect this. Next time I see that Rick kid, I'm going to have a very serious talk with him."
Juno felt helpless, like she was drowning in a sea of despair. But lucky for her, she had good parents who were trying to understand and support her.
The movie's theme was clear: even when life gets messy and scary, family love is the most important thing.
In the theater...
The audience was totally hooked.
"Don't you think that's kind of brave?" a girl whispered to her friend.
"Erin, are you serious?" her friend asked, shocked.
The girl shrugged. "Why not?"
Zane Blackwood didn't hear this, but if he had, he would have smiled.
He knew the movie would start a big debate. And where there is debate, there is heat. And heat means box office success!
"Let it be," Zane thought. "I'm just holding up a mirror to real life."
"Zane~"
Suddenly, his girlfriend Adriana leaned over and whispered, "My dear, should we think about having a baby someday?"
"Huh?"
Zane was instantly shocked!
Don't even joke about that! he thought. I am WAY too young for that kind of responsibility!
