Sips, the head of the purchasing department, looked very pale. Stealing $350,000 was a serious crime.
Donna waved her hand, and two security guards walked Sips out of the room. Everyone watched in silence.
"Oh, and Mr. Sips," Donna added calmly before he left, "I already sent the evidence to the police two days ago."
She paused. "In about ten minutes, the banks will freeze all your accounts. So if you were planning to run away with the money... you can't."
Wow. She was tough!
She wasn't just firing him. She was making sure he paid back every penny he stole. And if he tried to fight it? UPN was a TV network! They could put his face on the news. He had nowhere to hide.
Sips looked full of despair as he left.
The other bosses in the room started to sweat. They realized this new CEO wasn't playing games.
Donna looked at another man. "Mr. Thompson," she said.
Thompson was the head of HR (hiring people).
"You joined in 1994," Donna said, reading a file. "And you became the boss a year later. Is that right?"
"Y-yes, ma'am," Thompson stuttered. He was shaking.
"Good," Donna said. "Can you explain how you know Hawkins in finance, Keller in legal, Nielsen in IT, and Rachel in administration?"
Thompson froze.
"They are all your relatives, aren't they?" Donna asked, crossing her arms. "And the two new security guards you hired last week? Those are your nephews."
The room gasped. Hiring your family without telling anyone was a big no-no. It was unfair to everyone else.
"I knew it!" one boss whispered. "I heard Hawkins call him 'Dad' once! I thought it was a joke!"
"You idiot," his neighbor whispered back.
Thompson glared at Donna. "Fine! I broke the rules. I didn't tell you they were my family. I quit!"
He stood up to leave.
BANG!
Donna slammed her hand on the table. "You think you can just quit and walk away?" she said coldly. "You wish!"
She clapped her hands. The doors opened again. This time, it wasn't security guards. It was two police detectives!
"Mr. Thompson," one detective said, "we have a report that you have been harassing women in the office for years. You're coming with us."
The room was stunned. Donna had cleaned house! In just one meeting, she got rid of the two worst people in the company. She showed everyone that UPN was going to be a fair, honest place from now on.
"Alright, everyone," Donna said, her voice calm again. "Now that the bad apples are gone, let's get to work."
She looked at the team. "I have a new announcement. Wood Diller, you are moving to the logistics department. Alexander, you are now the new head of the broadcast channel department."
Objections? Of course there were!
Wood Diller was furious. He was being demoted to a boring job with no power. But he knew he couldn't argue. Donna was too strong.
But Alexander, the young 26-year-old executive, was thrilled!
"Thank you for trusting me, Ms. Donna!" Alexander said, his eyes shining. "I promise I won't let you or Mr. Blackwood down!"
It was a huge promotion.
Donna nodded at him. "Alexander, words are cheap. Show me what you can do. The first season of SpongeBob SquarePants arrived this morning. If you make this launch a success... then you will have proven yourself."
"Understood!" Alexander said firmly.

Friday Night.
It was finally time. The premiere of SpongeBob SquarePants!
Zane Blackwood finished his work early and went home to his villa. He had invited Stephen Hillenburg (SpongeBob's creator) and David Messer (the head writer) to watch the first episode with him.
They were all sitting in the living room, excited and nervous.
Ding Dong!
Suddenly, a sound chimed in Zane's head. It was the system!
