Chapter 41 - Drakain Dynasty The System: Chapter 41: The Deep Watch and The Reckoning

BOOK TWO: Chapter 41: The Deep Watch and The Reckoning

### Part I: Shira – The Deep Watch

Far from the Fortress Foundation, in the desolate midnight reaches of the Pacific Ocean, **Shira**, the seven-foot-tall, nearly humanoid Giant Pacific Octopus, hovered in the silent abyss. Her Dark Core, now fully stabilized, was a cold, infinite well of sentient grief and power.

She was **50 kilometers** away from her target, yet she saw everything. Her heightened consciousness, now a nexus of oceanic awareness, gave her perfect vision through the deepest black waters. Her focus was on a small fleet of aging fishing vessels. These were not the large trawlers that had murdered her family, but small, desperate operations run by local fishermen who couldn't afford to find another job.

The danger to the fishermen wasn't Shira, but the newly evolved pods of **Orcas**.

Shira witnessed the chilling efficiency of the Orcas. Their enhanced intelligence had forged them into organized, mean-spirited fighters. They weren't just following the fishermen; they were performing a clever setup, actively chasing schools of fish toward the boats' nets, ensuring the humans would drop their nets and become entangled, delaying them for a more brutal confrontation.

As Shira watched, a tiny fish darted past her, pursued by a frantic, mid-sized **Great White Shark**. The fish was insignificant, but Shira's mother-of-the-ocean maternal instincts, a raw, protective function of her newly sentient core, violently kicked in.

With impossible speed, one of her tentacles extended **50 feet** through the water, hardening into a massive, muscular rope. It snapped around the Great White, the tentacle's claws immediately locking down on the struggling predator. She hauled the shark toward her face, its body thrashing wildly against the strength of the monster holding it.

Shira opened her massive mantle and spat. It was not mere ink, but a focused burst of **pure Dark Mana** woven into a veil of black liquid. The ink covered the Great White's body, and the effect was instantaneous and terrifying. The 12-foot shark grew to a **20-foot monster**, its muscles bulging and hardening, its teeth growing longer, blacker, and sharper.

The shark broke free and swam in tight, joyful circles around its new creator, radiating dark strength and new loyalty. It was no longer a mindless predator; it was a loyal, ferocious dog awaiting orders.

Shira looked from her new weapon toward the distant, organized Orca pods. A cold, terrifying smile widened across her mouth. The Orcas were organized, but she had something better: **absolute obedience**.

### Part II: Elephantus – The King's Broadcast

The scene shifted thousands of miles away, across the African savanna. The continent buzzed with news of the **Guardians**: the Giant 10-foot-tall humanoid elephant and his small, Earth-Core companion.

**Elephantus** and the boy, **Kito**, were famous. The tragedy that sparked their transformation had forged a powerful, righteous alliance. Countless intelligent elephants, sensing a true leader, had left their homes to follow. Their ranks were swelled by humans with nascent affinities, desperate for guidance and control over their powers.

The intelligent, yet still animal, elephants let these human allies ride them into battles all over Africa. They fought brutal skirmishes against rebels, local gangs, and dirty politicians who had gained chaotic powers and used them to harm innocent people. Everywhere Elephantus and Kito went, people gave them gifts, fresh food, and blessings. They were loved.

This wave of protective guardianship came to an abrupt, chilling stop when a local man approached Elephantus and offered him a **tablet**.

The man played a news broadcast. It wasn't an interview; it was a massacre happening live behind the speaker. The speaker was a terrifying, 7-foot-tall, humanoid **Lion King** named **Leo**.

Leo, his bloody mouth stretched into a wide, casual smile, looked directly into the camera. **"Listen up, people of Earth, it is time for your reckoning!"** he purred, his voice rumbling like the engine of a tank. **"Do you see what is happening behind me?"**

Leo laughed, a deep, inhuman sound. **"I, King Leo, was granted these powers by the gods! Me and my wives will conquer this entire land. My kind have been hung on walls, hunted to near extinction!"**

The cameraman, visibly shaking, dropped the camera, and the feed went down to the dirt. All that could be seen was the headless body of the news anchor lying in the dust. Then, the humanoid Lion King, with one sharp, clawed finger, gently reached down, put his hand on the camera, and raised it back up for the trembling cameraman to stand.

With a quiet, terrifying evil smile, Leo finished his thought. **"As I was saying. Something about a reckoning? Oh yes. All humans are to evacuate these lands or else be eaten."**

The tablet image ended violently, the screen filling with a cavernous, **four-foot-wide mouth** that opened, showing massive white teeth covered in blood as King Leo devoured the cameraman and the camera.

In the savanna, Elephantus watched the video to the end. The rage was immediate. He gently took the tablet from the man's hand and crushed it completely. He then rumbled an apology to the frightened local and turned to Kito.

Elephantus gave the boy a firm nod. Kito nodded back, his eyes determined.

They knew what they had to do next.
