Ajax's POV
The moment Karl speaks those words, I watch shock ripple across Juliette's face like a stone thrown into still water. Color drains from her cheeks, her knuckles turning white as she grips her coffee cup, and Sally immediately reaches out to steady her. I catch the way Juliette's gaze flickers toward the forest edge, as if calculating her chances of escape.
Karl's eyes find mine, the message unmistakable. This situation requires careful handling.
"Juliette, Vance needs to know you're safe. Would you be willing to visit him? You wouldn't have to talk to him if that's not what you want," Karl suggests gently.
Juliette gives a small nod, placing her cup on the table with trembling hands.
"Thank you. Sean, Ajax, escort Juliette to the healer's cabin," Karl instructs quietly, already turning toward the house. "Make sure she stays protected."
"I'm going with them," Sally declares, rising to her feet.
