Sally's POV
The meeting drags on for another thirty minutes. Mr Aurora drones about paperwork, court dates, and witness testimony. I scribble notes like a frantic college student cramming for finals.
Karl fires off questions that never would have crossed my mind, while the others sit quietly. Though Philip can't help but grin whenever Mr Aurora stumbles over complicated legal terms that leave us all confused.
When the video call finally wraps up, Mr Aurora offers me a professional smile. "Your case looks solid, Ms Gordon. Document everything, stay composed, and don't forget you've already accomplished the most difficult part by creating a secure environment for your child. Leave the legal strategy to us."
"Thank you," I whisper.
He shifts uncomfortably, pushing his glasses up his nose. "Of course. I'll contact you before the week ends."
The screen goes black.
Nobody breaks the silence immediately. I release the breath that feels trapped in my lungs for the past hour.
