Chapter 20 - Breakthrough

After considering the matter from multiple angles, Anweis finally made his decision.

He gave up on the Frostwind Domain and chose to construct the Illusory Frostglow Field instead.

Being cautious was better—safety came first.

During the entire process of constructing the spell, the prismatic halo surrounding Anweis began to ripple slightly.

A mysterious power kept the forming spell model stable, preventing it from collapsing midway.

Constructing a spell model for the first time was extremely dangerous.

The more complex the structure, the greater the damage it would inflict on the mental sea if it shattered.

In the worst case, it could cause permanent damage, leaving one forever stuck at the apprentice level.

Thus, whenever possible, spirit apprentices would use treasures that stabilized the mental sea when constructing their initial spells.

Anweis carefully adjusted the trajectory of each glimmering node, making sure every one of them moved in its proper place.

Gradually, a harmonious and beautiful magical framework fully took shape within his mental sea, suspended quietly in the mist-like spiritual glow.

Ambient primal mana was instinctively drawn to the model, gathering around Anweis in a vortex before endlessly flowing into his body.

When the construction of the Illusory Frostglow Field was complete, Anweis felt a slight dizziness.

His spiritual power suddenly seemed burdened, as if bearing extra weight—this was because most of it was now being consumed.

A spell model did not become trouble-free once completed. On the contrary—each model required constant spiritual power to maintain or else it would dissolve.

And as a highly complex field-type spell, the Illusory Frostglow Field directly occupied about seventy-eight percent of his total spiritual power.

Anweis was left with only around nineteen percent he could freely manipulate.

Yet even so, it was enough for him to construct another spell of moderate complexity.

This was the terrifying result of mountains of rare resources poured into his growth. From the moment he was born, Anweis had been fed with endless treasures and enhancement rituals.

Born a dual-bloodline child, he already possessed extraordinary talent.

And on top of that, his family invested astronomical resources to raise him even higher.

By now, his aptitude was pushed to the verge of perfection—there was hardly room left for improvement.

Seeking absolute limits without caring about cost—

This was the kind of "education" only a Marquis-tier foundation could support.

The princes and princesses of ordinary kingdoms could not even dream of such treatment.

To put things into perspective: the cost of only the super-magic crystals consumed by Anweis since childhoodwas enough to empty the treasury of many small nations.

And such unimaginable expenditures were merely standard treatment for all direct descendants of the Karen family.

This—was what true heritage meant.

"Not much free spiritual power left… but I should still be able to construct one more first-tier spell…"

Sensing his current state, Anweis estimated the remaining amount.

After comparing several options, he ultimately chose Mirror Image.

This spell created two fragile illusions identical to himself—perfectly synergistic with the Illusory Frostglow Field's light-bending and perception-distorting effects.

Mirror Image was a simple first-tier spell; far easier than the Frostglow Field.Anweis constructed it with ease, taking up most of his remaining free spiritual power.

With both spells completed, Anweis briefly withdrew from meditation and looked toward the night sky.

Through the faint prismatic mist swirling around him, twin full moons reflected in his deep blue eyes, surrounded by oceans of silver stars.

Moonlight fell gently through the arched window, coating his figure with a faint silver-violet glow.

He glanced at the Lorix-style floor clock in the corner—the fine mithril hands pointed to 10:48 PM.

The black-velvet chaise beneath him pressed softly against his back, carrying the delicate morning-blossom fragrance released from the burning dream-dust.

"It's time…"

Breathing in the faint scent in the air, the pale young man slowly closed his eyes, whispering to himself as if giving encouragement.

His usual soft elegance in tone trembled slightly, mixed with long-awaited anticipation.

After steadying his emotions with a deep breath, Anweis dove back into his mental sea.

He guided his increasingly burdened spiritual power,

and began rotating it around the origin point of his mental sea.

As the rotation intensified, wisps of spiritual mist were drawn toward the vortex's center, compressed under the pull of his will.

The faster the vortex spun, the greater the pressure at its core became—

Buzz—

At last, the pressure surpassed a certain threshold.

With a faint, dreamlike chime,a silver-gray crystal—slightly translucent, its surface splitting into countless facets—fully condensed at the very center of his mental sea.
