Chapter 73
'This is bad, he's going to be killed by that winged creature.' she thought in panic.
"Run," Felina shouted loudly, "are you thinking of dying here, in this place?"
The attempt failed. Zavi's focus shifted to Resse hovering above him.
His body froze, his chest tightened, every breath triggering adrenaline to keep him alive.
On the other side, Resse did not miss that opportunity and immediately swatted Zavi away with its rough, pitch-black hand.
Thud...
Zavi's body was instantly thrown, destroying the bell and clock tower, then crashing into two buildings beside it.
"Ughh..."
He jolted, then fell and struggled to stand in a staggering state, his vision fading and blood continuously flowing from his mouth.
'Damn, my spine and back feel like they're about to shatter.' Zavi thought, grimacing in pain, looking at the devastated surroundings with one eye open.
His current condition was unfavorable. The two talismans he had been holding earlier and intended to throw at Resse had vanished when he was blown away.
The hollowed lower part of the tower triggered a chain of cracks as Resse flapped its wings and moved toward Zavi.
The tower collapsed with time, its sharp tip crushing the buildings below and creating a storm of dust floating in the air.
Meanwhile, Felina had moved away from the place, and she did not forget to carry Zuhen over her shoulder even though she knew it greatly burdened her body.
Dozens of meters from the previous location. She looked at Zuhen with a restless expression, realizing that she now seemed like a madwoman and had no idea when he would recover.
"Damn."
'What should I do? Ah damn, I'll fight that monster and wait for Sir to recover on his own.'
After thinking for a moment, Felina finally decided to return to that place. But when she arrived, it seemed Resse had been angered by Zavi's cowardly action.
A whistling sound was heard, loud enough to pierce the ears and creating a gust like a breeze, but this time mixed with dust from the destroyed buildings.
"What the hell is that?" Felina muttered reflexively as she slightly raised her head, her eyes locking onto the rooftop of the building to her left.
On the building that had previously been passed by the pale gray-white aura foxes, and by Resse when it flew toward the bell and clock tower. Zavi stood on top of it, his coat fluttering from the wind, while his serious gaze was fixed forward.
"Why are you rampaging?" he said with a sharp grin, "could it be you can't kill me?"
Resse hovered silently, its pale purple eyes locked onto him, accompanied by a high-pitched, broken growl.
'Not now, damn it. That thing isn't dead yet, and I can already feel the blood vessels in my forehead about to burst.'
He was truly worried about his body condition in the next few seconds. But when he heard a voice calling out to him, even without using his name, he felt slightly relieved as he glanced down to the right.
'That person... seems to know I'm in trouble.'
The corner of his lips lifted, a confident smile appearing as he ran across the rooftops and drew his small knife.
Felina, who saw him from below, nodded. She touched her left elbow and made a motion like drawing a bow, and a visual arrow with a pale blue aura appeared.
When Felina saw Zavi almost reaching his position, she released her attack with her right hand floating parallel to her head.
Whoosh.
Like an arrow, a pale blue light shot through the air toward Resse, before condensing into a single invisible needle.
Before the needle pierced Resse, Zavi, who was running from one rooftop to another, tried to divert Resse's attention.
Felina made a simple gesture; her index finger touching her thumb, an attempt to alter the attack.
This time, without confinement, just an invisible needle that would disrupt Resse's wound regeneration.
"Now."
His steps suddenly stopped, still holding the knife. Meanwhile, a group of foxes, hundreds of box jellyfish, and wolves with a dark purplish color wrapped in a pale gray-white aura attacked Resse simultaneously, the real assault.
Zavi smiled in relief inwardly, while remaining motionless and focused on finishing off the winged creature, Resse.
From below, Felina carefully observed the attack, ready to launch an additional strike if it wasn't enough to defeat Resse.
On the other side, Resse's focus shifted to the hundreds of box jellyfish stinging its body with their soft tentacles, realizing it would die if exposed to that attack for too long.
Finally, it flew higher than before while roaring loudly, its scream creating shockwaves and destroying everything beneath it.
Roof tiles, wooden roofs, and metal structures were blown away without direction. Felina was forced to find safety on her right side, taking shelter in front of a still-intact house terrace.
Meanwhile, Zavi, who was on the rooftop, was blown away, his body spinning in the air for several seconds before landing with perfect footing.
"Felina," he shouted in a raised voice. "Stop its movement for a few seconds. That's enough to defeat it."
'Trust me, this time I won't hesitate to use more spiritual energy,' he added inwardly.
Felina replied in a louder voice, "Alright. I'll do my best."
Around them, a dusty fog filled the area due to Resse's roar along with several objects floating erratically in the air.
Realizing that the longer this went on, the stronger Resse became, Zavi moved quickly to end it before it ended him instead.
"I know that," he whispered in confusion, "it's not perfect yet, and its movements are very limited. But who made it able to appear in this place?"
After thinking for a moment, Zavi finally ran sideways to find a safe path out of Resse's line of sight as the dust storm thickened by the second.
'Tch, damn it. If I hadn't been blown away, that thing would've definitely died.'
He kept running and even cursed himself for not holding out for those few seconds earlier.
Zavi reached the roadside and climbed using objects like wooden crates, cabinets, building protrusions, and house balconies to observe Resse from the rooftop.
Resse had regenerated from Zavi's earlier attack. As he watched Resse hovering, its hands sweeping away the dust storm around it.
After the two met eyes and exchanged stares for a few seconds, Resse's hand moved, and then blazing fire with a temperature of around 1000 degrees appeared, ready to engulf Zavi who stood still on the rooftop.
The house was instantly burned and reduced to ashes within seconds. Seeing that, though not yet perfect, its body, soul, and spirit were already one-third present in this world, it began to chuckle at seeing its target turn into dust.
But it was too confident without properly checking its target. As it flapped its wings again and turned to look for others nearby, Zavi stood behind it and floated closer with a serious expression.
A few meters before reaching it, Resse's expression turned serious as it sensed a great threat that would soon defeat it.
"Now, Felina!" Zavi shouted loudly, his jaw tightening, his hand quickly pulling something from his coat pocket and immediately throwing it.
With a single hand motion, a ring of fire formed to protect it from the two talismans.
But unlike what it expected, the two talismans penetrated the fire barrier as Zavi channeled spiritual energy to neutralize it.
His lips curved, realizing this worked, and his body would pay the price for this act...
In the blink of an eye, he appeared, stepping on air behind Resse just before the talismans firmly attached to its chest and executed the final attack.
Resse roared once more. Fear crept through its limbs, making it unable to withstand it and attempting a counterattack.
But it was useless.
Meanwhile, Zavi's consciousness instantly faded, he smiled in relief as he saw Resse for the last time being devoured by his attack.
His body lost control, falling from the height, then crashing into the house below and landing on the ruins—blunt stones that could still be fatal upon impact.
Meanwhile, a pale gray-white barrier enclosed Resse, and inside it a dark purplish aura flickered repeatedly, followed by screams of pain that were suppressed by that barrier.
Thanks to Felina's anti-regeneration, and the absorption of the explosion combined with lethal shocks and immobilization from the two talismans—electric conductor and movement restriction—the winged creature, Resse, would no longer be able to do anything until its body vanished without a trace along with its mind and soul from this world.
Felina stood still for a few seconds before shaking her head briefly.
'It worked?'
She let out a short breath before searching for Zavi, whose fall location she had already noted earlier. When she arrived, she struggled slightly because Zavi's body was on top of a pile of house debris, inside the house with a broken roof.
This house had long been abandoned, and if the owner were to return, it was certain they would feel sorrow seeing this.
Felina remained silent as she stood too long beside the pile of debris where Zavi lay unconscious, her gaze fixed on his dust-covered face.
On the other side, even from a distance, Aaron could see the winged creature while focusing on spying on a group with suspicious movements, located on the right side of the road from the roundabout, precisely in Wherthonia.
