"Want to dance?" I asked, my tone neither serious nor humorous.
V only cocked her head to the side, looking at me like a cat.
"What is with you and dancing?" She spoke, her tone far softer than I imagined it to be.
I was taken aback that she actually spoke to me, rather than the usual screaming in anger or baring her teeth at me like an animal.
But I sighed, my now-essentially-superpowered scan already detecting J and N approaching.
That was their game? Fine.
I raised my vectis at V, her optics widening.
"Wai–"
CRACK—BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
She was gone the same millisecond, not even given time to finish a word.
Then I booked it, while I knew I could quite easily take out all of the murder drones, it wouldn't do to kill one of them, since Joseph wouldn't let me drag out my warframes from the outpost through his base. I also wasn't feeling like getting banned from leaving again.
So I just blasted J and N once they came into view and ran.
My scan was picking up that they, in fact, were not following me.
Which was great, since maybe I could still get inside the bunker, since everyone working around the doors knew about my scan. And so they perhaps would take my word that there were no murder drones close by.
An hour later, I was walking through the bunker, my footsteps silent, coat glued to my form. You may ask me, why I'm speaking about. And the answer is simple. Why not? Sometimes I also wanted amusement, which I got by creeping up on drones and scaring them a bit.
Was it simple? Yes. Did it work? Yes. Was it fun? Absolutely. I saw a worker drone, randomly standing in the middle of a hallway, which was weird, but I couldn't complain, it was the perfect opportunity after all.
I got closer and closer, my fingers twitching in excitement.
Then I was right behind the drone.
Suddenly grabbed the shoulder of the drone, pretending that I tripped.
"Oh shi–" was the drone's response before it hit the ground. I started laughing, then straight up cackling once I saw the drone was rebooting.
A "ScaredIntoReboot.exe" on its visor.
Then I propped the drone against a wall and went my way, whistling innocently all the while.
A week or so passed and I was honestly bored. I had nothing to do other than go to classes, work on Protea, or go outside. Which was all good and nice, but very repetitive.
And so I lay on my couch, my legs swinging back and forth over the back armrest. My brain was coming up with ideas on what to do, which were all thrown to the side.
The ideas are so horrendously stupid or gory that I might as well be a serial killer. "Wait, ain't I already a serial killer?"
My mind buzzed, then I realized I actually didn't know the definition of it here. And I searched it up on the internet.
I looked it up and read over the paragraph in a low tone.
"A serial killer is an individual who murders three or more people over a period of more than one month, with each murder occurring as a separate event".
I raised a brow.
"Goddamn, I'm actually a serial killer". I let out a small chuckle, because in my own universe, I would need to kill a lot more to be branded as such. Which didn't really matter, since you know, thousands already dead by my hands.
Then I decided to go check out which killer types I fit in this universe's laws.
I read over the text slowly.
"Mass murderer? Check,
Spree killer? Yup,
Serial killer? Yep,
Murderer? Obviously."
I stared at the list, "Huh, it looks like I got a bingo".
I let out a chuckle at my fucked up humor and went to watch anime.
Or was it an anime? Bot sure, it's really good though, called Arcane.
And just like that months flew by, my boredom not rising nor falling, I was just always bored enough to be annoyed, but never enough to actually do anything about it.
Then I was invited to a shindig (had to look up what that meant). By none other than the cool guy Thad, which was nice. We all sat in a decently sized room, everyone stacking their consoles and such things nearby. Apparently, it would be a huge game session on something called Elder Ring. Which sounded fun. I was asked about my lack of a game station, and I replied with a simple, "won't play." I got several glances and brows raised at that, to which I replied with a shrug. Joseph seemed to be really offended at that, especially for whatever reason.
I was now watching Joseph scroll past his library, the hundreds of games flying by.
And then Joseph slowed a bit, and I read over the names.
Minecraft, Dark Souls, Warframe, Elden Ring–
–My blood and oil froze, my optics widened, my heart beat louder and louder each moment. Joseph had clicked on Elden Ring a minute ago, but the game, the name, and the cover of it. It was stuck in my mind, my brain not comprehending what I just saw. A quick search on my own os confirmed what I saw. Warframe is a game, based on a tenno.
The last word rang in my mind like a church bell.
It couldn't be, it can't be. Then there was a hand on my shoulder, my breathing slowed, a nervous smile forming on my face. My hollowed optics turned to the hand, then to the person connected to it. It was Joseph, of course it was. He seemed confused, a brow raised on his visor. I only shook away the hand, muttering a silent "I'm fine". The look persisted for a few more moments, then Joseph turned away. I watched the others play the game, Joseph obviously going faster than the rest, but my mind couldn't forget what I've learned.
Then, as Joseph was helping out the others, Doll had another one of her oil situations. Her hand flying to her visor, a "low oil" sign where her right optic.
Then Lizzy and Doll walked out, the gathering dying soon after. I was walking to my hab, my footsteps loud to my own ears, my heart rate picking up with each step. Now given solitude, my thoughts turned back to the game.
Soon I got home, and I immediately went to my basement, locking every door. I searched the game, watching others play it, watching others play my life.
I watched as they killed thousands, just as I did. I watched as they progressed, just as I did. I watched Teshin teach them, just like he had taught me.
My mind swirled with questions. Was this completely different? Was I actually just from a game? Were they controlling me? And finally, it was enough, my brain exhausted by the stress, I collapsed on my chair and fell asleep.
[A/N: Hey guys, so I just wanted to say, some things may not be the same, for obvious reasons. Such as timeline of events, warframe abilities or character personalities.
The personalities part is quite simple, while I may understand the character, I'm still new to writing and as such, not that good at such things. Hope yall understand!]
Thanks for reading and support!
