Jhin had been ambushed—or, to put it more precisely, Megumin had dragged him into the bedroom and pinned him down on the bed with menacing force.
He was quite certain he hadn't teased her recently, nor played any pranks on her, and he definitely hadn't touched her jade-like feet.
"So... what exactly are you trying to do with this whole pose of yours?"
Megumin stayed silent for a moment, then bean-sized teardrops came crashing down like a rainstorm, on the verge of drowning him in the blink of an eye.
"Hey, hey, hey, what's gotten into you?"
"J-Jhin~"
The girl's aggrieved, sobbing voice was like a sharp blade, easily slicing through the defenses around his heart.
"Don't cry. Whatever it is, just tell me."
"I... I might be about to die."
Jhin shot upright, gathered her into his arms, and carefully sensed the fluctuations of mana on her body: "Did you get hit by a curse? Or is it some old hidden injury?"
Megumin's slender fingers clutched his clothes tightly, as if only by doing so could she momentarily drive away the unease in her heart. She sniffed hard a couple of times and said in a muffled voice, "I... I don't know why, but a lot of blood came out of my body. This has never happened before."
She liked the color red, liked the firelight of Explosion magic when it detonated—but that didn't mean she liked the sight of fresh blood, much less watching herself bleed with her own eyes.
"When did this happen? Does anyone else know?"
"Just now. I haven't told anyone else—I came straight to you."
"Where's the bleeding wound?"
Megumin pointed at her own lower belly.
"On your stomach?"
She shook her head hard.
Jhin's gaze instantly shifted from serious to subtle. Recalling how her grasp of certain common knowledge differed from ordinary people, he carefully weighed his words and asked, "Uh... Megumin, that blood... is it all over your underwear?"
She didn't answer, but her face flushing crimson in an instant had already given the answer.
So it was just her period arriving...
Once he knew Megumin hadn't been hit by a curse and wasn't in any mortal danger, Jhin let out a breath, and patted her back gently with his right hand to soothe her: "Don't worry, this is a normal phenomenon. You're not going to die."
"Really? But... I bled so much."
"Really! This is... something that happens to all you girls. If you don't believe me, I can call Pecorine and the others over to explain it to you."

Stripped of her chuunibyou outer shell, Megumin was now just an ordinary young girl seeking help out of fear. Jhin's patient comfort and that calming aura of his gradually settled her panicked, anxious heart, and her petite body stopped trembling.
Jhin racked his brains, thinking as he conveyed the correct physiological knowledge to her—but when she lifted her head and asked with curious eyes what a period actually signified, he froze completely. The gears of thought that had still been barely turning jammed in an instant, and he couldn't string together so much as a single sentence.
His meager three-trick repertoire of physiological knowledge was just about exhausted. If he kept going any further, no matter how he thought about it, the only things left were "pregnancy" and "doing the deed."
Saying those two things to a girl experiencing her first period—well, that would pretty much spell the end of one's life, wouldn't it?
And if the rest of the people at the Gourmet Edifice found out, then his only remaining option would be to flee the continent of Astraea overnight.
At this critical juncture, Jhin suddenly remembered that in his storage space, there was still a book left over from when he'd played the teacher game with Kazami Kazuki—and that book just so happened to be titled "Puberty Education."
Even though my attention was entirely on Kazuki in her OL outfit and I never actually opened it to look, since it's a sex-ed class, the contents of this book definitely can't be wrong.
Hurriedly pulling the book out of his storage space and stuffing it into Megumin's arms, Jhin cleared his throat: "Ahem, I can't really go into the specifics with you, so just read this book. The contents inside are more than enough to make you understand."
Having said that, he slipped right out—not even remembering that she couldn't read the words in the book at all.
"How am I supposed to read these letters..." Megumin grumbled quietly, though she had no intention of calling Jhin back. She flipped open the pages in her hands, figuring she'd skim a couple of glances and then go ask him to explain properly.
Who'd have known—at the very first glance, the picture with its crisp black-and-white lines firmly seized her eyeballs. It was an illustration of a girl sitting on a desk, lifting her leg as she peeled off her stockings.
A manga? This, I can actually understand without relying on the words.
Megumin kept flipping onward, her breathing growing more and more rapid along with her ever-quickening page-turning, her pupils slowly dilating, reflecting within them the blush-inducing, heart-pounding scenes inside the manga.
So... that's how it is?
On this day, a door to a new world was formally opened to her by way of a book from Another World.
By the time Jhin knocked and walked into her bedroom, Megumin had long since put away that copy of "Puberty Education," with only a faint trace of bashful blush lingering on her face. He didn't think much of it, simply taking it as her being embarrassed after learning normal physiological knowledge, and handed her the cup of brown-sugar water along with the sanitary pads in his hand.
"What's this packet of stuff?"
"Sanitary pads. Line them inside your underwear and you won't get blood all over the place."
"Oh... thanks. But why would you have something like this?"
"Didn't I tell you? I have girlfriends, and they get this too, so I keep some stocked in my storage space."
Jhin then told Megumin how to use the sanitary pads, and only after he'd finished did he knit his brows and ask, "Don't tell me the continent of Astraea doesn't have anything like this?"
"I don't know..."
"Figures. You only half-understand even this sort of thing—how would you know about anything else."
From their earlier chat, he'd learned the reason Megumin's knowledge in this area was so absurd: it was because her mother would always tell her stories she made up herself—like the legend of Medusa, where kissing would get you pregnant, which sounded ridiculous and, in fact, was quite ridiculous.
On top of that, with Megumin heading out adventuring on her own, her mom had piled on a whole bunch of bizarre stories with even greater intensity, telling her to protect herself properly while away from home. Although her intentions were good, there seemed to be some problems with her methods.
Still, the moment one thought of those three big words, "Crimson Demon Clan," all this behavior somehow came to seem perfectly normal again.
Braving the risk that he might get beaten up by the other girls, Jhin went to find them and inquire about whether the continent of Astraea had any feminine hygiene products.
Luckily he'd taken out the sanitary pads in advance and explained how to use them—otherwise, judging by the fur on Kyaru's tail, she really might well have rewarded him with a [Guren Burst].
In the end, Pecorine and Kyaru bashfully accepted the sanitary pads. As for Kokkoro—although by human reckoning of age she was a centenarian, from the perspective of the elves she was at most an elementary schooler, so how could she possibly have any use for this thing?
In that instant, Jhin seemed to see Officer Friendly smiling and gently patting him on the shoulder: "Young man, that's quite the crime you've got going there!"
