Chapter 10 – The Little Golden-Haired Girl Without a Chance to Fight Back
As they spoke, Qian Renxue had already entered her Martial Soul Possession state. Her petite body floated gracefully into the air, bathed in a radiant golden glow that illuminated the entire training ground.
For once, the little angel's expression turned serious—she truly intended to give Lin Beiya some pointers in combat.
"First Soul Skill — Angelic Charge!"
Her six wings flared open as Qian Renxue's figure transformed into a golden streak, surging straight toward the transparent wall before her.
She'd already planned it out—she would shatter her opponent's crystal wall, then stop her fist just before that annoyingly handsome face of his. After all, her grandfather had taught her that true mastery lay in both attack and control.
It was a good plan. Unfortunately, reality didn't care much for her plans.
The dazzling image of the crystal wall breaking apart never came. Instead, as her holy-light-empowered punch struck the wall, the surface rippled like calm water disturbed by a pebble.
A moment later, her own attack rebounded with even greater force, slamming directly into her stomach.
"Owwww!"
The little angel tumbled backward like a startled moth, rolling several times across the training ground before curling up and clutching her stomach in pain.
The sight left Lin Beiya completely dumbfounded.
He hadn't even activated the rebound function of his Crystal Wall!
After a long moment, he awkwardly covered his face. Apparently, while he could manually control whether the wall reflected energy-based attacks, physical melee strikes were a different matter—those automatically rebounded at double strength.
And Qian Renxue's first soul skill just so happened to be a high-speed, close-range physical attack… which meant she'd just been hit by her own double-powered Angelic Rush.
"Uh… hey, you okay?"
"I'm fine," she said through gritted teeth, forcing herself to stand. "Didn't expect you to have a few tricks up your sleeve. But now, I'm going to get serious!"
Lin Beiya's concern only made things worse. In Qian Renxue's eyes, his tone was full of smug pity—a victor consoling the defeated. Her pride stung, she subtly rubbed her sore stomach and shot him a wary glare.
She had obtained her soul ring months before him and possessed two soul rings as a Soul Grandmaster. If she lost here, how could she face anyone? Where would the dignity of the Angel Clan go?
This was a battle she absolutely could not lose!
With renewed determination, Qian Renxue's second soul ring lit up. The six angelic wings on her back flared wider, pulsing with divine energy that surged outward in waves.
"Be careful, Beiya! I'm coming!"
"Second Soul Skill — Holy Light Radiance!"
The moment her voice fell, countless beams of golden light burst from her three pairs of wings, raining down upon the transparent barrier before them.
Unlike her earlier focused strike, this was a wide-range area attack. Brilliant waves rippled violently across the crystal wall's surface—yet just like before, no matter how fierce her assault, she couldn't break through Lin Beiya's defense.
Lin Beiya rubbed his temple and said helplessly, "Uh… how about we just call it a draw?"
But instead of calming her down, his words only added fuel to the fire.
"Stop looking down on me! I'll definitely break this stupid wall of yours!"
"Take this—Angelic Charge!"
From a distance, Qian Daoliu quietly watched the scene unfold and sighed, shaking his head. His granddaughter still lacked real combat experience. It was clear that the boy's defensive soul skill couldn't be broken by brute force, and yet she kept charging in recklessly.
In his eyes, if Qian Renxue wanted to win, she should've leveraged her soul power advantage as a Soul Grandmaster and engaged in a battle of attrition instead.
But the six-year-old girl was clearly too worked up. Right now, all she wanted was to defeat Lin Beiya as quickly as possible—and restore the pride of an angel.
As expected, things went exactly as Lin Beiya had predicted. Every time Qian Renxue charged forward, the Crystal Wall effortlessly bounced her back, sending her tumbling across the ground. Her once-pristine white dress was now covered in dust and dirt.
Off to the side, Qian Daoliu sighed softly.
"Well, letting Xiaoxue take a few hits isn't necessarily a bad thing. If she doesn't learn hardship now, she'll suffer more when facing real enemies in the future."
He understood better than anyone that true strength was forged through struggle. Even someone as powerful as Qian Daoliu had once met opponents he couldn't overcome—both Tang Chen and Bo Saixi had given him painful lessons.
Back in the arena, the "duel" continued… though calling it a duel might've been generous.
It was more like Qian Renxue's one-sided soul skill practice session, since Lin Beiya hadn't moved an inch after casting Crystal Wall.
Once again, Qian Renxue's Angelic Charge struck the barrier—and once again, she was sent flying by the wall's doubled rebound force. But this time, she didn't get back up. She simply lay there, motionless.
If not for the faint trembling of her shoulders, Lin Beiya might've thought the rebound had knocked her unconscious.
"Uh… how about we just call it a draw?" he offered tentatively.
"Shut up!" came her muffled reply. "I don't need your pity… Losing means losing! Next time… I'll win it back!"
Her voice trembled, and Lin Beiya wasn't sure if it was his imagination—but it sounded like she was choking back tears.
It wasn't hard to figure out why. Qian Renxue had never really faced defeat before. Aside from Bibi Dong, no one had ever managed to humble her. And now, to be beaten by someone supposedly weaker than her—it was bound to sting.
In the Spirit Hall, she had always been the radiant center of attention—the little angel admired by all. When had she ever suffered such humiliation?
Realizing this, Lin Beiya sighed and dismissed the Crystal Wall. He slowly walked over to the crying little golden-haired girl, gently helping her to her feet. With one hand, he brushed the dust off her white skirt.
"Then let's settle it next time," he said softly. "The Crystal Wall can withstand attacks at the Soul Grandmaster level and rebound them with double the force. Your Martial Soul is strong, but your attacks haven't yet surpassed that threshold."
Qian Renxue's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Your… your armor—what exactly is it? How can it be so powerful?"
Her shock was understandable. The strength of a Martial Soul usually corresponds to one's innate soul power. Yet even with her innate rank-20 Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul, she couldn't match his Aries Gold Cloth. How could she not be astonished?
"Hm?"
Lin Beiya looked down thoughtfully at his golden armor. A sudden idea struck him.
'Wait… can my Aries Gold Cloth be worn by someone else?'
After all, his second soul ring would likely unlock another set of Gold Cloth. With nine rings, that meant nine armors in total—and there was no way he could wear them all himself.
Curious, Lin Beiya willed his thoughts into the armor. Under Qian Renxue's wide-eyed gaze, the Aries Gold Cloth dissolved into light, forming the image of a golden ram before transforming into a golden card that dropped onto the ground.
"Wha—Beiya, what's happening?!"
"I'm… not entirely sure," he admitted. "But try picking it up and infusing your soul power into it."
"O-Okay!"
Following his instructions, Qian Renxue picked up the golden card and injected her soul power.
In the next instant, the same Aries Gold Cloth that had just encased Lin Beiya unfolded once more—this time wrapping around her body.
However, the armor adjusted itself automatically, reshaping into a feminine design: the waist slimmer, the hips flared slightly, and the lower portion forming an elegant, skirt-like outline perfectly suited for a girl.
Qian Renxue's eyes sparkled as she admired herself, her earlier frustration forgotten.
"Wow, Beiya! I can wear it too! This armor is amazing—it looks so cool!"
