Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Whale Rubber Supply

Chapter 29: Whale Rubber Supply

Even though Lin Beiya already knew how things would unfold, he had no intention of saying anything. After all, even if he did, no one would believe him.

What was he supposed to do—warn Qian Xunji that he'd soon be knocked senseless by Tang Hao, who'd ascend to Titled Douluo on the spot, only to return home and get devoured alive by his own disciple?

If he said that, Qian Xunji would probably smite him with a divine Angel's Judgment on the spot. What a joke—how could the illustrious Pope of Spirit Hall, a Super Douluo, possibly lose to a newly promoted Tang Hao?

Still, Lin Beiya couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the little angel, Qian Renxue. No matter what kind of person her father was, she could still sense a trace of warmth from him.

Casting her an apologetic glance, Lin Beiya and Qian Renxue continued toward the training grounds to finish their daily physical regimen. After witnessing Lin Beiya's feat of surpassing his limits to absorb a soul ring, both Qian Renxue and Lei Ying had become even more motivated to strengthen their bodies.

After all, who wouldn't want to attach a soul ring that broke past their limits the next time they reached a bottleneck?

That night, Lin Beiya summoned his Golden Taurus Cloth and began cultivating his soul power.

As for the matter of the whale rubber, he had already mentioned it to Demon Suppressing Douluo. By now, Qian Daoliu was probably making preparations. But traveling back and forth across the sea takes time—there was no rushing this.

The next day, as soon as Lin Beiya entered the classroom, he met Shi Nuo's excited gaze.

"Beiya, yesterday when I was cultivating—"

"Shh!"

Lin Beiya quickly raised a finger to his lips, signaling him to keep quiet. He had no intention of letting word get out that the Gold Saint Cloth could accelerate cultivation.

The chubby boy's face flushed red, struggling to contain his excitement. Not being able to gush immediately left him visibly frustrated.

It wasn't until after classes ended and they had eaten lunch together back at the dorm that Shi Nuo finally exploded like a machine gun.

"Beiya! That Gold Saint Cloth of yours is amazing! My cultivation was so much faster than usual! And those two soul skills—it's incredible!"

Lin Beiya waited patiently until his friend finished rambling, then handed the Taurus Gold Card back to him.

"As long as it helps, that's all that matters. Keep cultivating seriously. You should also study those combat techniques more—they'll be good for you."

"Got it! Thanks so much, Beiya!"

Shi Nuo's martial soul was the Vigorous Demon Bull. After obtaining his first soul ring, his strength and defense had both increased, though his movements were still rather stiff. Fortunately, the Taurus battle techniques perfectly compensated for that weakness.

With Lin Beiya's guidance, Shi Nuo could take the pure strength route, focusing all his soul rings on enhancing his body, while relying on the Gold Saint Cloth's techniques to fight.

Sharing a single Gold Saint Cloth only strengthened their bond—Shi Nuo was now his ironclad little brother through and through.

---

After obtaining his second soul ring, Lin Beiya's daily life returned to a steady rhythm: academy, training grounds, night cultivation.

His soul power, physique, and Gold Saint Cloth mastery all advanced steadily.

Even more impressive was the remarkable improvement in his visual perception over the past few months. Whether tracking fast-moving objects or seeing at long range—or even in darkness—his eyes had evolved beyond human limits.

He could now clearly see the fluttering wings of a mosquito a kilometer away, and at night, his vision was as sharp as a cat's.

With that, Lin Beiya's five senses were finally balanced, each reaching an extraordinary level with no more weaknesses.

Yet, one thing continued to bother him—despite mentioning the whale rubber nearly three months ago, there had been no progress.

When he asked Qian Renxue about it, she said she didn't know either—Qian Daoliu hadn't mentioned anything to her.

That left Lin Beiya uneasy. He wondered whether his suggestion had been ignored entirely.

Fortunately, a few days later, his doubts were finally put to rest.

On his way back to his quarters after training, he was surprised to see Qian Daoliu waiting for him ahead.

Without a word, the Grand Worship took out a wooden box from his soul tool. The faint chill radiating from it suggested it had been packed with ice.

And even before the box was opened, Lin Beiya's enhanced sense of smell caught the faint, fishy scent seeping through.

He didn't need to look inside—he already knew.

Inside that box was exactly what he had been waiting for—whale rubber.

"This is the whale rubber you asked for—both thousand-year and ten-thousand-year varieties. It should last you for about two years."

"Thank you, Grand Worship."

Qian Daoliu waved a hand with a faint smile, the approval in his eyes unmistakable.

"No need to thank me. You were the one who discovered the miraculous effects of whale rubber—that contribution alone is of immense value to Spirit Hall. This little supply doesn't even begin to repay your merit. In the future, if you need anything, feel free to ask."

"In that case, I won't be polite about it, Grand Worship!" Lin Beiya said with a grin as he stored the wooden box containing the whale rubber into his soul tool. Then, with a curious expression, he asked,

"Grand Worship, may I ask why it took so long to acquire the whale rubber?"

Qian Daoliu shook his head. "It's not that we delayed collecting it. We simply needed more test samples. Without proper verification, we couldn't be sure if its effects were unique to you or universally applicable."

"So that's how it is."

At that explanation, Lin Beiya's doubts instantly cleared. Since whale rubber offered such remarkable benefits, it was only natural that the descendants of the other Worships—including the little angel herself—would be trying it as well. They had to ensure it was safe before distributing it, which explained the months of delay.

Lin Beiya didn't take offense at not being fully trusted. Such caution was only natural.

"Thank you again, Grand Worship. I'll make good use of the whale rubber."

"Mm. Xiaoxue will also begin taking it soon. You already have your own methods for body tempering—guide her along as well."

"I understand."

Qian Daoliu's gaze softened. Seeing Lin Beiya's progress filled him with both admiration and envy. Though his own nine soul rings were already complete, his granddaughter's cultivation had only just begun. He needed to pave the way for her future.

---

Back in his room, Lin Beiya couldn't wait any longer. He opened the wooden box and took out a chunk of thousand-year whale rubber. Judging the amount his body could handle, he sliced off a piece and began refining it carefully.

After several months without supplementation, his body had improved through pure training—but progress was slow. With this whale rubber, his physique would once again enter a rapid growth phase.

At dawn the next morning, the sun had barely risen when a voice started shouting outside his door.

"Beiya! Beiya! Wake up already, I need to tell you something—!"

"I'm coming, I'm coming."

Stretching lazily, Lin Beiya tidied his clothes and opened the door—only for a blur of motion and fragrance to rush past him.

"Beiya! Grandpa gave me a whole chest of whale rubber yesterday, did you know that?"

"I know. He gave me one too."

"Grandpa said this stuff can strengthen the body! He also said that your ability to absorb a thousand-year soul ring at rank 20 was largely thanks to the whale rubber. Is that true?"

Seeing the eager curiosity shining in Qian Renxue's eyes, Lin Beiya couldn't help but smile and nod.

"That's right. It was only by using whale rubber that I was able to strengthen my body enough to withstand the impact of a thousand-year ring."

"Really? Then that means it was thanks to the whale rubber I bought for you two years ago!"

The little angel's eyes sparkled with pride, clearly delighted that she had played a part in his success. Lin Beiya chuckled and nodded.

"Yes, it's all thanks to you, Xiaoxue. If you hadn't bought that whale rubber back then, I might not have managed it."

"Hmph! Since you're so grateful, why didn't you tell me sooner?"

Her playful pout only made Lin Beiya laugh harder—and the early morning light shining on her face made her look like a holy angel.
