Chapter 119 - Slaughtering the Tyranids

More Ultramarines entered the Battle. The motion of pulling the Trigger was continuous and seamless, like a Precision Machine, with an infinite stream of Ammunition pouring from the Muzzle.

One Warrior grabbed a lunging Hormagaunt and put a Bolter Round through its Body, then stuffed the overheated Gun Barrel directly into the Tyranid's Interior, simultaneously solving the Weapon's Heat Dissipation problem and ending the Enemy's Life.

Tyranid Body Fluid sizzled at the high Temperature, quickly evaporating into Gas. The Gun Barrel Temperature instantly dropped.

The Warrior pulled his Weapon back, gently shook off the residual Tissue, and continued the Battle.

The Ground suddenly burst open, and a massive Tyranid Warrior Bug erupted from the Earth, its three-meter-long Bone Blade pointing directly at the nearest Ultramarine like the Scythe of the Grim Reaper.

Facing this Fatal Threat, the Warrior merely turned slightly, and his Chainsword cut an Arc through the Air.

The Tyranid's Bone Blade, along with half of its Torso, fell to the Ground with a thud, green Blood gushing out like a Fountain.

"The effect of this 'Mending Enchantment' is really good," the Warrior calmly commented. The tiny Nicks on the Chainsword were repairing themselves as the Bug was killed.

In the center of the Battlefield, several Emperor-class Titans advanced like Giant Gods descended upon the World, their Footsteps shaking the Earth.

Every Step made the Ground tremble, and their massive, hundred-meter-tall Bodies cast huge Shadows in the Sunlight.

Several massive Tyranid Tyrants charged toward them. Their many thick Forelimbs whipped through the Air, emitting ear-piercing Screeches, then they launched a Charge at the Titans.

Inside the Titan Cockpits, the Operators remained composed. They then activated the black Chainsword Device on the Titan's right Wrist.

Instantly, a Rainbow-Colored Energy Blade erupted from the tip; the tens-of-meters-long Light Blade cut the Air, emitting a faint Humming.

The two sides quickly closed the distance. The Titan precisely adjusted its Stance to meet the oncoming Impact at the optimal Angle.

The Tyrant's Forelimbs struck the Titan's Breastplate with enough Force to easily tear apart Steel, only sparking a few insignificant Flashes. Not even the surface Paint was damaged.

The Tyranid Tyrant seemed confused and raised its Forelimbs again for a second round of Attack.

However, the Titan did not give it the chance.

The giant Mechanical Arm swept out. The Rainbow-Colored Chainsword Light Blade effortlessly sliced into the Tyrant's thick Carapace, like a Hot Knife through Butter.

The Tyranid Titan emitted a mournful Wail. A horrible Gash appeared in its Chest and Abdomen, its internal Organs clearly visible.

But the Tyranid's powerful Vitality appeared again. The huge Gash began to Heal.

The Titan, however, did not give it a chance to recover, immediately raising its left Arm. The Muzzle of the Stars Cannon began to Gather Energy.

Golden Yellow Starlight condensed and spun at the Muzzle; the internal Machinery emitted a deep Humming.

The Muzzle was placed deep into the Tyrant's Wound, and then—

Following a blinding Flash, the Tyranid Tyrant's Body burst open from the Interior. The Energy Shockwave completely Vaporized its Internal Organs, leaving only a scorched Skeleton and scattered, broken Carapace smoking faintly.

"Target cleared, moving on to the next one." The Titan stepped over the Tyranid Remains and continued to advance, leaving behind a mess and stunned Gazers.

"Sir, what... what should we do?" an Astra Militarum Warrior watching asked blankly.

The Commander swallowed, his Voice trembling slightly: "Support them... do what we can."

The Ultramarine Squad Captain walked through the Ruins, his Armor stained with Tyranid Body Fluid, but his Authority was unaffected.

"Gather your Men and evacuate the Civilians. We will eliminate all Threats."

The Captain turned and left before the Astra Militarum could answer, continuing his Hunt.

With new Hope and Resolve, the Astra Militarum Soldiers reassembled and began assisting with the Civilian Evacuation.

Their Eyes were filled with Awe and Gratitude toward the Blue Giants.

Sensing the constant Slaughter of Tyranids, the Swarm finally sent out their Ace Card—the Broodlord Tyrants.

These terrifying Psychic Units possess unique Brain Structures; each one is an Extension Node of the Hive Mind.

They can spread the Shadow in the Warp across the entire Battlefield, penetrating the Thought Barriers of most Creatures.

Historically, countless fortified Imperial Defenses crumbled after the appearance of the Broodlord Tyrants.

The Broodlord Tyrants scanned the Battlefield. More and more Hives were being destroyed, and countless Bugs were being slaughtered by the Ultramarines' Bolters.

Furthermore, the numerous War Planets in Space had blocked their Retreat, forcing them to take action.

As the Broodlords began to act, the Tyranid Tyrants synchronized their silent Signals, starting a Resonance.

Waves churned in the Warp, and chaotic Energy began to permeate Reality.

On the Battlefield, the Ultramarines suddenly felt the surrounding Air become viscous.

"[Warp Fluctuation detected, degree exceeded standard.]" An Alarm sounded in the Tactical Channel.

The Warp God of the Tyranids, the Great Devourer, was summoned from behind the Tyranids, and Its Power was descending upon the Battlefield.

A green Energy Mist spread out. Wherever it went, even Steel began to Corrode.

"Activate Faith Shield!" the Ultramarine Captain ordered.

The Faith Power on the Space Marines immediately lit up, blocking the evil Energy out.

Ordinary Imperial Guards did not have this protection. Several Astra Militarum Soldiers who couldn't retreat in time were touched by the Warp Energy. Their Flesh began to writhe and deform; Mouthparts and Limbs sprouted from their Bodies.

The Great Devourer's Psychic Power descended overwhelmingly, so dense it was suffocating.

On previous Battlefields, this level of Might was enough to turn the tide and cause an entire Army to collapse in Fear.

But today's Battlefield was different.

The Tyranids had a powerful Evil God behind them, but the two Gods behind the Imperium of Man were clearly much stronger.

The Ultramarines quickly formed a Defensive Formation, while the Faith Power stored within the War Planets began to be mobilized.

The gigantic Faith Storage Devices inside the War Planets started operating, the accumulated Energy surging ceaselessly.

Then, several massive War Planets simultaneously fired blinding White Light, converging at a single point in the Void.

The Light condensed and distorted, eventually forming a huge Humanoid Phantom.

The Golden Yellow Power Armor shone with Holy Radiance. The gigantic Projection overlooked the entire Battlefield.

It was the God-Emperor Ian.

As soon as the Phantom formed, Ian's Consciousness grasped every detail of the Battlefield.

The status of the Defenses, the Enemy Distribution, and the reason the Ultramarines summoned him—everything was clear in his Mind.

Ian's Gaze pierced the Void, locking onto the Evil God's Consciousness hidden at the edge of the Warp.

A cynical Grin curled his Lips. "I was just wondering where to find you guys," Ian's Voice echoed over the Battlefield, audible to everyone.

"I didn't expect you to deliver yourself right to my Door. That's getting everything without lifting a Finger."

The Ultramarines on the Battlefield were greatly encouraged. They attacked the remaining Tyranids even more fiercely.

Ian and the Emperor had always planned to deal with these Warp Gods first, but perhaps their successive Ascensions had caused a drastic change in the Structure of the Warp.

The Warp was now more chaotic than ever, with countless layers of Energy Tides interacting with each other.

Coupled with the fact that the Evil Gods seemed to sense danger and deliberately hid themselves, Ian and the Emperor had difficulty pinpointing their exact Location for a time.

They had searched for the traces of many Chaos Deities but had overlooked the Great Devourer and the War God of the Greenskins.

The Great Devourer's voluntary appearance today was precisely what Ian wished for.
