MarineDevimon tangled with Zudomon and Garudamon. All three Digimon were massive, and the area where they fought was a wreck—trees snapped, grass trampled beyond recognition.
"Guilty Black!" A stream of toxic black ink blasted from MarineDevimon's mouth. Zudomon turned and used the shell on its back to block the attack. "Shadow Wing!" Garudamon seized the opening— a fiery bird-shaped shadow cleaved across MarineDevimon's tentacles. MarineDevimon howled; the tentacles Garudamon cut off fell, caught fire, and then vanished into nothing.
"Hammer Spark!" Zudomon raised its "Vulcan's Hammer," forged of Chrome Digizoid, and smashed down on MarineDevimon's head, sending off a huge shockwave and shower of sparks. MarineDevimon cried out in pain and was knocked sprawling. "Eagle Claw!" Garudamon's enormous talons raked toward MarineDevimon, but before they landed, MarineDevimon's tentacles grabbed hold of Garudamon's foot. Garudamon didn't flinch. "Crimson Claw!" Flames flared scarlet around the trapped talons.
"Szzzt—szzzt—" The tentacles clutching Garudamon's foot sizzled as they burned.
"Ah!" MarineDevimon screamed and let Garudamon go.
"Flame Hurricane!" Garudamon's great wings beat, whipping up a blazing tornado. Swept into the vortex, MarineDevimon spun upward toward the sky, shrieking in pain.
Garudamon stopped flapping, and MarineDevimon dropped. "Hammer Spark!" Before it could hit the ground, Zudomon's hammer struck it again. "Shadow Wing!" The slash hit home. "Deadly Flying Hammer!" Zudomon hurled the Vulcan's Hammer like a boomerang; it nailed MarineDevimon in the head, staggering it. From above, Garudamon dove in with "Assault!" and its fire-wreathed talons crashed into MarineDevimon's skull. With a final scream, MarineDevimon's body split apart and dispersed into data.
SkullSatamon sneered at MagnaAngemon. "You think you alone can defeat me? How conceited."
MagnaAngemon raised his holy sword, keeping his guard. He and SkullSatamon were bitter, natural enemies. "Wicked darkness—this is not your place. Return to the shadows."
"Hmph." SkullSatamon snorted. "Self-righteous fool. Let me teach you a lesson."
He lunged with his staff; MagnaAngemon thrust out Excalibur and caught it. Masked face to red-glowing eyes, they glared at each other. With a fierce shove they broke apart, floating and measuring the other.
"Gate of Destiny!" With his right-hand sword, MagnaAngemon traced a circle in the air, opening a gate to subspace. The door yawned wide, its pull intensifying. SkullSatamon brought his staff crosswise to brace against the suction. "Nail Bone!" The gem at the staff's tip flashed with a concentrated beam that blasted the gate; it shuddered, then slowly snapped shut and vanished. MagnaAngemon darted in and slashed SkullSatamon across the body.
"Ah!" SkullSatamon glared hatefully at MagnaAngemon now behind him, gripping the wound Excalibur carved. It wouldn't heal—holy power and dark power are opposing attributes, each dealing amplified damage to the other.
"Nail Bone!" The jewel on the staff blazed again and fired at MagnaAngemon. MagnaAngemon raised his Beam Shield and unleashed "Holy Shield Counter!" The light struck the shield and rebounded straight back. SkullSatamon sprang aside, evading the reflected blast; the black sphere slammed into the tree where he'd just been standing, and the trunk crumbled silently into ash.
"Skull Hammer!" SkullSatamon swung his staff, launching a dense mass of darkness. MagnaAngemon's eight vast wings flared with holy radiance—"Holy Purification!" Light and darkness collided with a hiss, "chhh—chhh—," coalescing into a churning black-and-white sphere between them. Both poured on more power, and the sphere shifted back and forth between the two combatants.
A thunderous boom— the unstable sphere finally detonated. The shockwave hurled MagnaAngemon and SkullSatamon far back. Where they had met, a wide crater yawned, scorched black at the center—a sign of the tremendous energy released.
SkullSatamon levered himself up on his staff; MagnaAngemon also rose, wings bracing. Both were breathing hard, nearly spent, but neither yielded.
"Holy Sword Slash!" MagnaAngemon poured the last of his strength into Excalibur; the blade blazed, then unleashed a massive white sword-aura. SkullSatamon gathered power and fired a huge black sphere from his staff.
The sword-aura and the black sphere collided, exploding violently. MagnaAngemon set his Beam Shield before him, his feet gouging long furrows in the ground. SkullSatamon was flung into the air.
While SkullSatamon hung aloft—"Celestial Arrow!" A woman's voice rang out behind him. With a sharp whoosh, a white arrowhead burst through his chest from front to back. SkullSatamon stared down at the point protruding from his breast, stunned, unable to believe it. He slowly turned his head—Angewomon still held her bow drawn. Having finished off LadyDevimon, she had rushed to support the others, and seeing SkullSatamon unguarded in midair, she loosed her shot.
"Holy Sword Slash!" Gathering every last mote of strength, MagnaAngemon surged forward. His eight wings beat once and his body became a line of white light, streaking for SkullSatamon. SkullSatamon could only watch, desperate to resist—but the lightning-like shaft of "Heaven's Punishment" struck him, leaving him unable to exert his power. As MagnaAngemon closed, his form resolved; Excalibur flashed and cleaved through SkullSatamon. The two passed one another in midair.
SkullSatamon gaped, as if to speak, but only a final cry of despair escaped him. Light spread from the slice across his body; he began to fracture and, at last, shattered—dissolving into data and vanishing from the Digital World. Seeing his foe disappear, MagnaAngemon's body shed a soft white glow that flew to T.K. T.K. hurried forward and held out his hands, catching the light. It settled and revealed Patamon's form. After such a fierce battle, Patamon no longer had the strength to maintain Ultimate level.
"You worked so hard, Patamon." T.K. stroked him gently.
"It's okay, T.K." Patamon basked in his partner's affection, snuggled into T.K.'s arms, and drifted to sleep—he was exhausted.
"Guilty Claw!" NeoDevimon's talons stretched toward Lillymon—an enhanced version of Devimon's Death Claw.
"Flower Cannon!" Lillymon brought her hands together; the petals at her wrists formed muzzles and fired, the shell slamming into NeoDevimon's extended "Guilty Claw."
Boom—impact thundered as the two attacks met, forcing NeoDevimon's claws to retract at speed.
"Horn Buster!" MegaKabuterimon's gigantic horn charged straight for NeoDevimon. NeoDevimon's two massive claws shot out and seized the horn, but the boosters behind MegaKabuterimon roared to full output, driving NeoDevimon steadily backward. A feral grin twisted NeoDevimon's face.
"Ah—ah!" NeoDevimon roared; black miasma flooded his claws as he heaved, shoving MegaKabuterimon back. With a vicious twist he flung his arms to one side; MegaKabuterimon's body was wrenched off-balance and hurled toward the ground.
Thud! MegaKabuterimon hit hard, blasting a crater into the earth.
"MegaKabuterimon!" Izzy looked on in alarm at his partner.
NeoDevimon bared his teeth in a ghastly smile. "Guilty Claw!" His talons elongated again, snatching for the fallen MegaKabuterimon.
Seeing her partner in danger, Lillymon streaked for NeoDevimon's reaching claws. "Flower Blade!" she cried, and the petals on her hands shot forth—new ones blooming immediately. The petals slashed across NeoDevimon's long claws, and he howled—Lillymon's strike was clearly devastating.
Even wounded, NeoDevimon gritted through the pain and continued after the defenseless MegaKabuterimon—an opportunity he refused to waste.
Realizing she was being ignored, Lillymon flushed with indignation—her anger spiked to the limit in an instant.
"Spirit Vines!" She thrust out her right hand; the petals there stood upright, wrapping her forearm, and lanced beams at NeoDevimon's claws, scoring wound after wound. "Flower Blade!" The petals on her right hand rose and arranged themselves before her into a delicate pink sword. Lillymon snatched the blade; the four leaf-shaped wings on her back beat furiously. She flashed forward and, with a single stroke, severed NeoDevimon's claw. He screamed in agony.
MegaKabuterimon surged up and grabbed NeoDevimon's remaining extended claw with both upper hands. Startled, NeoDevimon couldn't react before MegaKabuterimon unleashed his attack.
"Mega Blaster!" Power flooded MegaKabuterimon's horn and four arms—plasma shells hammered into NeoDevimon point-blank. He tried to escape, but MegaKabuterimon held him fast.
"Flower Cannon!" "Horn Buster!" When the charge reached its peak, MegaKabuterimon and Lillymon fired together. NeoDevimon let out a final wail as his body burst into data and disappeared.
