Cherreads

Chapter 64 - 64

After leaving the Hokage's Office, Kyuushin eagerly returned to the Senju ancestral home. He immediately tossed aside the cultivation notes the Third Hokage had given him, quickly went to the training ground, and simply acknowledged Minato and Nawaki's greetings, telling them not to disturb him for now. He then found a relatively open spot and sat down cross-legged.

Concentrating his mind, Kyuushin directly activated his Second Stage Gene Lock. While the first activation had been difficult, subsequent uses became much simpler. In an instant, his keen perception reappeared, far stronger than when he was in the First Stage. However, Kyuushin did not focus his attention on his surroundings; instead, he earnestly directed his full attention inward, observing the chakra within his body.

With practiced ease, Kyuushin sensed his physical energy and mixed it with his spiritual energy, and thus, chakra appeared. He maximized his perception and carefully felt this wisp of chakra. Indeed, under these enhanced conditions, he discovered details he had previously overlooked. Perhaps the perception of the First Stage wasn't strong enough, or perhaps he had simply missed it before, but after being enlightened by the Third Hokage, he could now clearly perceive that his chakra could be divided into three distinct parts. Two of these parts combined accounted for more than half of the chakra. One part was slightly larger and the other slightly smaller, but both felt relatively pure to Kyuushin. The remaining part, though larger than either of the other two individual parts, appeared much more chaotic.

Kyuushin immediately understood. This must be the initial Nature Transformation exhibited by his chakra. The two purer parts should be the Wind and Water Release detected by the chakra paper earlier. This was just the first step; being able to sense the difference was already a success. The next step was to carefully observe the ratio of spiritual to physical energy during the chakra synthesis process. He dissipated the wisp of chakra and prepared to try again, this time focusing his entire mind on the condensation process.

After meticulously observing the process, Kyuushin finally discovered the clue: he found that the ratio of physical to spiritual energy in those two purer chakra parts was indeed different. Unfortunately, the difference was extremely subtle; even with his current perception, he still couldn't clearly discern the exact ratio. Fortunately, he could still sense it. Even if the precision was lacking, Kyuushin believed that with a few more tries, he should be able to fully grasp it. He then began a process of repeatedly condensing and dissipating chakra, but even when his mind was too exhausted to maintain the Gene Lock, he still hadn't mastered it.

"It seems the difficulty is greater than I imagined," Kyuushin thought, lying on the ground, pale and sweating. Fortunately, this time he only used the Second Stage for perception and did not use strength beyond his physical limits, so he did not experience the previous side effects of muscle swelling and blood vessel blockage.

Orochimaru had given them a few days off, so for the next few days, Kyuushin kept trying this process. It's worth mentioning that after several days of training, Minato and Nawaki had already passed the first two stages of Rasengan training, which involved using spinning chakra to burst balloons. The next stage required compressing the spinning chakra into a stable form in the palm of their hand.

After Kyuushin told them the trick, Nawaki immediately began excitedly trying it out, while Minato asked Kyuushin, "You seem to be in a strange state these past few days. Has something happened?"

"Nothing, I'm just practicing Chakra Nature Transformation," Kyuushin waved his hand, smiling. "It's just that my cultivation process is a bit special. Perhaps very soon, I'll be able to master two Nature Transformations at once."

"Hmm, I believe with your talent, you can definitely do it," Minato said with a bright smile that dispelled some of Kyuushin's fatigue.

"Of course," Kyuushin smiled back. "But you also need to work hard. Don't let me leave you too far behind." After a brief chat, he began his training for the day. After several days of unremitting effort, he felt he was very close.

Indeed, during Kyuushin's ninth attempt, he finally narrowed down the ratio of the two chakra types to a relatively small range. The next step was to precisely control his spiritual and physical energy and mix them according to the ratio he had determined. Physical energy was easier to control, but spiritual energy was still a bit ethereal. Fortunately, under the control of the Second Stage Gene Lock, he managed to succeed. Feeling this wisp of pure chakra within him, Kyuushin couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief.

He reached out and plucked a nearby leaf, placed it in his palm, and then controlled this wisp of chakra to inject into it. Soon, a moist sensation was transmitted. *Not cut in half, but moist. So, this ratio produces Water Release?* But it didn't matter. If this one was Water Release, the other must be Wind Release. As a verification, he condensed a wisp of chakra according to the other ratio. Sure enough, after injecting it, the leaf in his hand was cut in half. He smiled happily. With the Gene Lock's enhancement, he had finally mastered the Nature Transformation of these two chakra types. This also meant that the Third Hokage's speculation was entirely correct. However, it was as he said: this method was not something ordinary people could master.

In a great mood, Kyuushin controlled the energy within him, once again condensed a surge of chakra, and then formed hand seals.

"Water Release: Water Wall Jutsu!"

The chakra within his body, after a specific circulation, gathered in his throat. Kyuushin opened his mouth and spat out a huge stream of water, which quickly rotated around him, forming a barrier. However, after successfully casting the ninjutsu, Kyuushin did not show a happy expression. He found that the more chakra he condensed, the less precisely he could control it. In the surge of Water Release chakra he had just condensed, other elemental chakras were inevitably mixed in, accounting for about thirty percent of the total. In other words, thirty percent of that chakra had been wasted.

However, thinking about it, it seemed normal. Even after mastering Chakra Nature Transformation, the degree of mastery varied among individuals. For example, Uchiha Madara's B-rank Fire Release required dozens of Water Release ninja to cast Water Wall Jutsu to defend against it. It's conceivable that Madara's Fire Release chakra must be extremely pure. In Kyuushin's current thinking, this meant that the proportion of other chakras besides Fire Release was very small, which allowed him to cast such powerful ninjutsu. Just like chakra control ability, the basic requirement might be sixty points, but some people could master it to seventy or eighty. The same applied to Nature Transformation. The ninjutsu Kyuushin had just performed, in terms of its purity, was probably around seventy points. The same amount of chakra, the same ninjutsu; whoever performed it with greater power indicated whose Nature Transformation was better cultivated. This might also be the most direct way to compare the strengths and weaknesses among Jonin.
