"Me?"
Tsunade nodded. A sleepless night spent crafting a brand-new ninjutsu had left her looking weary, yet her focus remained sharp. There was no time to rest now. She turned to Kyuushin and explained,
"The technique you mentioned—I can perform it now, more or less. But it's meant for one target at a time. When I checked the Medical Camp, there were over forty poisoned shinobi. After such a long delay, the toxin has already seeped deep into their vital organs."
She took a slow breath before continuing, "That's why I need you to summon Lady Katsuyu to sustain the others' lives while I work on them. Also, since this jutsu originated from your idea, I plan to teach you how to perform it while we treat the patients."
Kyuushin nodded without hesitation. "Understood. I'll handle it." Then, a bit sheepishly, he added, "But really, I was just making suggestions. You're the true creator of this technique."
Tsunade rolled her eyes, a faint smirk tugging at her lips. "Fine, fine, I'll take the title. I've even given it a name—the Delicate Illness Extraction Technique."
With that, she strode off toward the Medical Camp, and Kyuushin followed close behind.
Before entering, Tsunade paused by a small river running beside the camp. She crouched down and splashed cool water on her face, washing away some of her exhaustion. The procedure ahead would demand absolute precision and clarity. Once she steadied her mind, she straightened, lifted the tent flap, and stepped inside.
The patients, pale and weak, looked up as Tsunade entered with Kyuushin behind her. Relief immediately washed across their faces. Everyone in Konoha knew her reputation—not just as the granddaughter of the First Hokage or the disciple of the Third, but as the most gifted medical-nin in the entire village. Those who had been treated at Konoha Hospital spoke her name with deep respect. If Konoha had ranked its most admired shinobi, Tsunade would undoubtedly sit at the top.
Kyuushin, having spent many days assisting the medical staff, was also well-known here. His Chakra Scalpel technique was skillful and steady, and once people discovered that he was training under Tsunade, admiration for him deepened even further.
Without wasting another moment, Tsunade snapped a command. "Kyuushin, summon Lady Katsuyu."
Kyuushin immediately gathered a large surge of chakra, his hands flying through five precise seals before slamming his palm to the floor. The Summoning Formula expanded like lightning across the ground.
"Bang!"
A loud puff of smoke filled the tent, and a massive blue-and-white slug appeared before them.
"Ah, Kyuushin. Do you need my assistance?" came Katsuyu's gentle, soothing voice.
"Yes, Lady Katsuyu," Kyuushin replied respectfully. "Please divide your body and help sustain the lives of these patients. I'll keep providing chakra to support you."
"Understood," she answered warmly, and in an instant, she split into countless smaller slugs that glided across the room, attaching themselves to the poisoned shinobi to stabilize their vital signs.
While Kyuushin conducted the summoning, Tsunade prepared two basins of clear water. She approached the first patient, her movements crisp and confident.
Placing her hand in one basin, she molded her chakra precisely, shaping the water into a shimmering sphere. Then, activating her Chakra Scalpel, she made a clean incision along the patient's abdomen.
Control refined, she guided the water sphere carefully into the body through the cut. Once inside, the liquid adjusted under her control, weaving between organs to draw out the embedded toxin.
Minutes later, she pulled the sphere free—it had turned murky and dark. She placed it back into the basin, purified her hands, and formed another water sphere from the second basin to repeat the process.
After several cycles, the patient's complexion, once deathly pale, began to regain color. Satisfied, Tsunade guided one of Katsuyu's clones onto the wound. The healing technique activated instantly, knitting tissue and boosting the body's natural ability to expel the remaining trace of poison.
Only then was the first treatment complete.
Tsunade wiped the sweat from her brow with a cloth handed to her by a medic-nin, then turned to Kyuushin. "You saw everything clearly. Think you've got it?"
Kyuushin gave a half-smile and sighed. "I'm not a god, Sensei. I can't just learn something like that from a single demonstration."
Tsunade chuckled. "I figured as much. With your talent for chakra control and those S-rank techniques you've been throwing around, I thought you'd pick this one up with just a glance."
Kyuushin could only give a helpless shrug, but Tsunade was already moving to the next patient. "Alright, enough teasing. Come here. I'll explain step by step. It's not too difficult once you understand the fundamentals."
He joined her quickly. Tsunade formed another water sphere from the basin and began instructing, her voice steady and precise. "This is where it starts. You must maintain perfect stability in this form—don't let it tremble, not even slightly."
Kyuushin studied it closely, then asked, "Can't I form the sphere with chakra water instead?"
Tsunade paused, then shook her head. "I forgot—you specialize in Water Release. But no, that won't work. Even if you turn your chakra into water, it's still chakra. Once that enters another person's body, their natural chakra will resist it. You won't be able to sense the toxins accurately."
"So, it has to be real water—and the cleaner, the better. Distilled water is ideal, but even plain water will do. A few stray bacteria won't matter for a shinobi's constitution."
Kyuushin nodded, taking mental notes.
Tsunade continued as she prepared the next incision. "This spot is best—it gives access to nearly all major organs. Have you studied internal anatomy?"
Kyuushin gave a sheepish grin. "Only the basics. I might not manage such precise cuts yet."
Tsunade shot him a brief glare, then sighed. "Fine. At least remember the location. The rest depends on chakra control. As long as you can maintain control, you won't harm their organs."
Kyuushin nodded earnestly. Guided by her instruction, he gradually began to understand the delicate coordination required. Despite the medical complexity, the essence of the technique lay in chakra precision—a domain where he excelled.
By late evening, after treating dozens of patients, Tsunade was finally nearing the last one. She straightened, exhausted but satisfied, and turned to her student.
"Alright, Kyuushin. You take the last one."
He froze. "Me?"
He had only just learned the theory. Did she really intend for him to perform it already?
