Chapter 56 - Lumine: Are you shipping my husband with another woman?!

On the edge of a cliff—

Gu Chen spoke with an apologetic tone:

"I truly apologize for my rudeness. Please allow me to introduce myself."

"I come from the continent of Azeroth, and serve as a court mage of the Great Qin Empire. I was ordered to journey to the Elden Ring to subjugate the Elden Beast. However, I was attacked by a dragon mid-way and… ended up falling into this world."

After that complicated explanation, Raiden Makoto's (Ei's sister) eyes flashed with curiosity.

A visitor from beyond this world?

"This is the continent of Teyvat, and the place you're standing in is Inazuma, my domain," Raiden Makoto said softly.

"Our languages are mutually intelligible—praise be to the god of magic," Gu Chen said, surprised. "Thank you, Your Grace. I won't cause much trouble; once I find a way home, I'll leave this place."

"I see…" Makoto's tone carried a trace of disappointment. "Do you need my help? I am a god, after all."

"Oh? You're a god?"

Gu Chen bowed respectfully.

"Forgive my discourtesy, Your Grace."

"It's quite all right."

Then Makoto asked curiously:

"How do you intend to find your way home?"

"Let me try something first."

Gu Chen lifted his hand, and intricate runes formed glowing circles in his palm—patterns interweaving, mysterious and unfamiliar.

Makoto had never seen such magic before, watching with fascination.

After a while, the magic circles dissolved into mist. Gu Chen's expression dimmed.

"It seems… The hope of returning home is slim."

"That's all right, don't rush. You can stay in Inazuma for now."

Makoto smiled warmly.

"Really? Thank you for your generosity, Your Grace!" Gu Chen bowed, delighted.

"Mm. By the way, you mentioned you're a court mage. That empire of yours must be very powerful, right?"

"Naturally. The Great Qin Empire is the mightiest in Azeroth. Under our Emperor's rule, humans live in peace. Occasionally, beasts attack the borders, but our knights and magi repel them."

"I see…" Makoto murmured, impressed.

She glanced toward the small human village below and grew serious.

"I'd like to invite you to help build my nation. Humans here… don't live very well. We gods protect them, yes, but I'm not skilled in governance. Could I perhaps learn from you?"

Gu Chen looked surprised but soon nodded.

"It would be my honor to assist a god. I'd be glad to offer advice."

"Then… would you become my attendant?" Makoto asked hopefully.

"Your Grace, are you serious?"

"Of course!"

Gu Chen hesitated for a few seconds before replying:

"If I ever find a way home—"

Makoto interrupted with a smile.

"Don't worry. I wouldn't stop a man longing to return home."

"Then it's my honor to become your attendant."

[In-world Chat Reactions]

Paimon: What kind of dragon can knock someone out of their world?! 😱

Azhdaha: Even I, a dragon myself, could not do such a thing. And this "Elden Beast" he was to slay… how powerful must it be?

Venti: Azeroth sounds like a fascinating place. Shame Gu Chen didn't share more. @GuChen — Do you remember any of it now?

Kaeya: Honestly, I think he made that all up. 😏

Gu Chen: Memory's fuzzy. Don't ask.

Kaeya: Still, that magic's something else—different from Visions entirely. Even Baal looked shocked! Must be a whole new system. 🤔

Raiden Ei: (alert)

Furina: Isn't the main point that Gu Chen can't go home? Did anyone else see how Baal's eyes lit up when she heard that? 😂

Zhongli: Rationally speaking, anyone in Makoto's position would treasure such a man's knowledge. Even I would bargain to have him teach governance—to avoid future mistakes born of inexperience.

Yae Miko: Mmh~ Some gods do make terrible decisions for lack of experience. 😏

Raiden Ei: You could've just said my name outright. 😒

In the video—

Under Makoto's guidance, Ei soon met Gu Chen.

Makoto appointed him to oversee human affairs while she learned from him—essentially making Gu Chen both a mentor and governor.

He didn't disappoint: he opened farmland, found edible crops, purified water sources, and taught salt-refining—all things the gods had never considered.

Under Gu Chen's direction, the human settlements transformed dramatically.

"For now, use raspberries, sweet flowers, and lavender melons as emergency crops. Also, build fishing boats—the ocean holds plenty of resources too."

Makoto followed him everywhere, taking notes diligently—her godly elegance now resembling a secretary.

One day, Ei approached Gu Chen.

"Since you could slay that beast, you must be strong, right?"

"Do you need me to hunt something?"

"No, I want to spar!"

Kaeya: I'm getting the feeling my little sister's jealous—trying to punch the guy stealing her sister's attention. 😏

Raiden Ei: You think too much. Pure martial spirit. (threatening glare)

Childe: I get it! The thrill of meeting a worthy opponent! 💥

Scaramouche: Meatheads.

Raiden Ei: Want me to remind you who your "mom" is? 😐

Scaramouche: …

Childe: Why'd you go quiet, buddy? 😏

At Sea.

The two hovered over the waves.

The wind whipped Gu Chen's coat as he bowed gracefully.

"Then, Your Grace—don't blame me for not holding back."

Instantly, twin arrays flared in his hands—one blazing red, one icy blue.

Flame roared from the red array, forming a massive giant of fire that reached into the clouds.

The blue array cloaked him in frost, shaping an icy armor.

"A fascinating technique," Ei murmured. "But power's essence remains the same."

With a swing of her naginata, lightning split the sky.

The fiery hand met the thunderous slash—BOOM!

The blast churned the sea below.

When Ei closed in, Gu Chen muttered,

"Forgive me."

Blood-red aura surged around him; his strength spiked. One punch struck Ei squarely in the chest, forcing her back.

"What technique is that?" she asked.

"A type of enchantment—called a buff."

"Baff?" she frowned.

The duel continued, fierce and unending.

Finally, thunderclouds gathered—Ei raised her blade, lightning enveloping it.

"Be careful."

Gu Chen's eyes hardened. A towering spectral goddess appeared behind him—white-haired, elven-eared, eyes full of mercy.

The lightning fell. Silence.

When the light faded, the apparition vanished, and Gu Chen stood pale but unharmed.

"What was that spell?" Ei asked, astonished.

"A Seventh-Tier Magic — Nature Goddess's Mercy."

"Impressive. I lost," he admitted.

"Let's head back," Ei smiled. "Sister will worry."

[Chat]

Sara: He blocked Musou no Hitotachi?! 😱

Kokomi: Unbelievable…

Zhongli: "Nature Goddess's Mercy"… an unfathomable art indeed.

Venti: Heh, sounds like an old friend of mine. 😉

Nahida: 👀

Raiden Ei: Why would Sister worry about him?

Yae Miko: Oh~ getting jealous already? 😏

Raiden Ei: … I noticed something—the titles include "God's Attendant" and "Suppressing a God." What does that mean? 😐

Furina: Haha, you all caught that too! Maybe Gu Chen ends up suppressing Raiden Ei! Place your bets! 😂

Raiden Ei: He's not my match. (threatens)

Gu Chen: Lady Furina, I'm an honest man!

Furina: Didn't you say to yourself you lack morals? 😏

Kaeya: He did!

Venti: Guilty!

Gu Chen: If being handsome's a crime, then I'm guilty for life! I'll serve my sentence with pride! 😎

Kaeya: Humanity could never produce a man with that level of shamelessness.

Nilou: Aww~ Lady Baal looks worried about Mr. Gu Chen! Are we getting a new couple to ship? 💞

Lumine: Excuse me? Did you just say ship my husband with another woman?! 😡

Nilou: Ehehe…

Kaeya: To live happily— 😏

Venti: —one must wear a little green on the head! 🍃

Lumine: You two better hide when I find you! 😤

Later, in Liyue—

A shopkeeper smiled at Lumine:

"Miss, stockings like these really accentuate a lady's beauty. Both Miss Ganyu and Lady Keqing adore black ones!"

Lumine thought back to how Gu Chen always glanced at their legs when they wore them.

"Men…" she muttered.

"I'll take two pairs."

"We also have white ones. Would you like some?"

"Two pairs of those too."

"Wonderful! We also have some… special outfits that might truly captivate your beloved's heart."

Lumine's cheeks flushed as she hurriedly covered Paimon's eyes.

"...I'll take them all."

"At once, miss!"

"Lumine, are you sure you can wear all those clothes?" Paimon asked innocently.

"You wouldn't understand," Lumine said seriously.

These weren't just clothes—

They were weapons of victory.
