Violet
The silence lasted three heartbeats.
Then Rowan moved.
He turned so fast the bed groaned beneath us, and before I could process what was happening, his arms were around me, his legs tangling with mine, and his whole body curling around me like he was trying to fold me into himself.
His face buried into the curve of my neck, his nose pressing hard against my pulse, and I felt his breath come in short, unsteady bursts against my skin.
I couldn't move. He had wrapped himself so completely around me that my arms were pinned between our chests, my hands trapped against the warmth of his shirt.
"Rowan—"
"I'm so happy." His voice was muffled against my throat, rough and cracked at the edges. "You have no idea how happy I am right now."
My heart stuttered.
