'Nyx... abandoning me?'
I couldn't help but smile a little. It didn't really matter; all that the goddess could ever do was grant me basic power and dominion over darkness.
But if I really wanted true power, power to become someone worthy of standing beside Evelina, I needed more than just simple darkness.
Besides... I get to keep her previous gifts, nothing lost.
[11:32]
'It's that late already...?'
I stood up from my bed. Surprisingly enough, I wasn't hungry. It looks like even a demon prince had enough manners to at least grant me a special bonus.
Either that or it was the ring's effects; either way, both were useful.
Now I just needed to make sure the other demon prince I snitched on won't kill me, but with Beelzebub's ring under my possession, I'll be protected enough not to care about it for now.
'Now then... time to check out if this thing's the real deal.'
[Beelzebub's Ring (SSS)]
- Chaos imbues all your attunement
- Chaos blesses all your casting
- Demon Prince (Only partially active due to your mortal form)
- Chaos blesses your physique
"It really is the real thing..."
I couldn't help but laugh, not a normal one, but the laugh that would usually come out of someone who had just managed to make a deal with a demon and lived to tell the tale.
[Dark Recovery]
I tried to cast my spell, but just as expected... it failed, horribly.
[Chaos Recovery]
And instead of that... I've got something more interesting instead... an S-Class recovery spell, or... even a buffing spell for someone with a weak physique such as me.
Because imagine... what if you used chaos itself to heal the body of a really frail, spoiled noble child? Well... It's simple, it doesn't simply heal, because, in the spell's eyes, my frailty was also considered an injury it needed to fix.
"Now that feels... great."
I couldn't help but groan slightly as chaos energy began to swirl all around me, trying its best to remove all my 'injuries' from my frail body.
Now that's what you would call a shortcut.
I headed to the mirror immediately, taking off my shirt, and well... it could even give my old physique a run for its money.
"Sleeper build...? check." I headed to a chair, lifting it with one hand at the most difficult handle possible, and it was barely even an issue. "Strength...? check."
Of course... this kind of power came with a ton of drawbacks... but who cares? I have literally everything in the novel to help me; simple demonic curses on a mortal body won't be enough to stop me.
*** The Next Morning
I wasn't even sure if I still needed sleep, but it didn't hurt to get as much of it as possible.
The worst thing about being a popular assassin is that you don't get enough sleep due to, and now... I finally get to relax as much as I want.
"Miss Rose, I'll be heading out now."
I exited the mansion, and just as expected, Rose looked at me in surprise. I quite literally left two hours before, as I was expected to.
And I didn't even pack my things that I would bring to my new dorm.
"M-Master Cael...! This is..."
"Don't worry! I know what I'm doing."
I rushed out of the gates, and the instant I was out of her sight, I immediately teleported away.
[Demon's Step]
And the difference between demon's step and shadow step? Simple, it had simply nearly no limitations, but the formula was definitely still annoying.
GRUMBLE!
The ground beneath me trembled, a huge demonic mouth appearing as it sucked me into the ground... but that was all for effects.
It wasn't really anything dangerous.
*** D'Arclight Estate
I reappeared in front of my lady's mansion, the demon's mouth releasing me just out of her guard's sight, and just like my memory and my imagination, it was definitely big... but definitely not enough for a lady like her.
She was destined for the emperor's palace after all.
"Are you lost?"
The guard at the gate stopped me, a spellblade, a mix of a warrior and a mage, a jock and nerd combined, essentially.
"No."
I showed the ring that Evelina gave me.
The guard didn't even reply, simply allowing me to enter the gates; it looked like they were already used to Evelina recruiting new pawns.
And there she was, standing in the middle of her courtyard, already dressed in her academy uniform, arms crossed while watching her servants move her stuff for her.
Normally, most of that stuff won't even fit in the dormitories, but since she was an S-Class just like me, we had a bigger dorm than most.
"Oh...? It seems like my new admirer has arrived."
She smirked.
