Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Bear’s New Hat

[Teddiursa]

[Weak]

Taylor saw the state of the Teddiursa. Although it still looked a bit scary, at least the disease was cured.

The scar on its body is unlikely to be gone in the short term; it may be gone after it evolves.

"Roar…" the Teddiursa let out a soft roar, then pawed gently at the medical pod.

Taylor walked over and opened the door to the medical pod. Immediately afterward, Teddiursa came out of it, moving very quickly, seemingly impatient.

"From now on, your name will be…" Taylor looked at the Teddiursa in front of him, and the bear also looked up at Taylor.

The small, black eyes, set against the rotting skin, looked like black gems in a garbage dump.

"Scruffy, how about it?" Taylor slapped his palm, thinking of a new name. It was perfect, a little name for a little battler who had already shown more courage than most.

Scruffy nodded, then looked around, jumped off the table, climbed to the side of Taylor, and rubbed its head against Taylor's trouser leg.

Taylor looked down at the Scruffy at his feet, sighed inwardly, then picked it up and patted its little head.

The texture of this Teddiursa is completely different from that of a normal Teddiursa. A normal Teddiursa feels like touching a plush toy, but Scruffy is different. Touching its head feels like touching sandpaper.

Scruffy shrank its head, realizing that its head felt rough to the touch and its mood instantly dropped.

Seeing Scruffy's distressed expression, Taylor gently patted its head.

When these abandoned Pokémon are brought here, they often have a short period of time when they are not used to life in the orphanage and some even want to find their original trainers.

However, they will adapt after a period of time, and Taylor will also help them adapt to their current life.

Seeing that Scruffy seemed uninterested, Taylor took it out to meet the other children in the orphanage.

The little ones showed concern for Scruffy, and this friendliness made Scruffy seem a little more relaxed.

"There are still two little guys in the yard that you haven't seen yet. One is Casey. She rarely shows herself, but Casey is definitely looking at you right now," Taylor said gently, looking at Scruffy.

As Taylor spoke, a gust of wind blew by, swirling up fallen leaves that landed in front of Scruffy. When the wind stopped, a hat appeared in front of Scruffy.

The pink, fluffy hat is knitted from wool.

Taylor was stunned for a moment. He really didn't expect that Casey would give a gift to Scruffy.

Scruffy stared blankly at the hat in front of it, then reached out its paw, took the hat, and tried to put it on its head.

A fluffy hat was placed on the bear's head, making it look silly, yet somewhat cute.

"Scruffy!" Scruffy suddenly raised its head, looked at Taylor excitedly, and then put its head close to Taylor.

Taylor looked at Scruffy in front of him, paused for a moment, and then realized what Scruffy was planning to do. He reached out and rubbed Scruffy's head.

Compared to before, the fluffy hat covered the scars on Scruffy. It felt fluffy to the touch, but you could still feel that something was different.

Scruffy excitedly tugged at Taylor's clothes, and Taylor, looking at Scruffy's seemingly glowing eyes, also revealed a smile.

"You look great in this hat." Taylor smiled gently. He really hadn't expected that the gift Casey gave to Scruffy would solve a problem for Scruffy and make Scruffy look more confident.

Taylor looked at the scars on Scruffy's body. These diseases, which had almost taken Scruffy's life, were still horribly visible on Scruffy's body.

Although Taylor thought that Scruffy looked even more handsome this way, Scruffy obviously didn't think so.

"Maybe I could try to get Scruffy a set of clothes?" Taylor thought of something.

Looking at Scruffy in front of him, Taylor thought of the past. Back then, he hadn't transmigrated yet and was still in school. A female classmate had been in a car accident, which resulted in a large patch of skin being scraped off her leg and a small cut on her face.

She was very self-conscious, and her teachers and classmates comforted her, telling her that she looked good and pretty just like that.

But it was no use, and she almost did something drastic in the end. Later, her father arranged for her to drop out of school.

It was because of that incident that Taylor realized that the method of comforting someone must be carefully chosen, otherwise it will not only fail to comfort them, but will also make them more desperate.

Taylor decided to give it a try, but he didn't know how to sew clothes, so he had to think of another way.

Seeing that Scruffy had become more optimistic, Taylor also breathed in relief. Of the two little guys who were officially admitted to the orphanage today, Scruffy was not so troublesome. The most troublesome one was Dratini.

Thinking of Dratini, Taylor glanced at the location of the infirmary. He had just brought Scruffy out and introduced the other little friends to the other party, but he didn't see Doctor Locke.

I guess they went back.

With that in mind, Taylor first settled Scruffy and let it stay with Puffin, while Taylor went to the infirmary.

As soon as Taylor opened the door, he saw Dratini lying on the hospital bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, while Locke was on the phone next to him.

Seeing this, Taylor tried putting Dratini into the medical pod.

[Currently, there is no treatment available for severed limbs or to remove the aftereffects of chemically synthesized toxins. Please upgrade your medical pod.]

Taylor looked at the notification and pinched the bridge of his nose.

The good news is that it only needs to be upgraded once; the bad news is that it is currently untreatable.

But at least there was hope, and Taylor felt less pressure. The next upgrade of the medical pod would require two thousand happiness points, no more, no less, but for Taylor now, it would still take some time to accumulate them.

"Director, can this medical pod treat patients?" Locke asked, putting down his phone. Taylor shook his head.

Two thousand happiness points won't be enough in the short term.

"I understand." Locke wasn't discouraged. He picked up his phone and said a few more words before putting his hand down. Then Locke threw a Poké Ball from his waist.

The next second, a Musharna appeared in the infirmary.

"This is my partner. I need to give Dratini a preliminary diagnosis first," Locke explained.
