Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 Overlapping Different Pupils

Here it is again—this feeling, this sensation that the entire world seems to be slowing down!

Instantly, Yūki vividly recalled the state he had suddenly entered during his battle with Diavolo not long ago.

In this state, the entire world seemed to automatically enter "bullet time." The dust floating in the air moved at a speed Yūki could clearly see—it felt truly marvelous.

After an indeterminate amount of time passed, Yūki blinked, and the flow of time in the world returned to normal, without the previous sense of slowness.

This was definitely not his hallucination; he truly could enter this "bullet vision."

But how does one enter it? Ah, right. It seems that just now, "Kaguya" and I both activated the Byakugan's inner world mode simultaneously, but we didn't enter the inner world mode—instead, we remained in the real world.

To verify his hypothesis, Yūki had the main body and the Stand use the "inner world mode" separately, then used both simultaneously. Finally, he figured out what was happening.

Simply put, the Byakugan has two modes: external and internal. At this point, Yūki and his Stand each possessed a pair of Byakugan with shared vision, leading to the following scenarios:

Scenario 1: Yūki activates inner world mode, and "Princess Kaguya" activates outer world mode (or vice versa). The result is the ability to see both the real world and the chakra world simultaneously.

Scenario 2: Yūki and "Kaguya" both activate outer world mode. The resulting field of view is no different from Yūki activating outer world mode alone—it provides a 360-degree field of view with no blind spots and telescopic zoom.

Scenario 3: Yūki and "Princess Kaguya" both activate inner world mode. The result is that neither enters the inner world where chakra is visible; instead, "bullet vision" appears overlaid on the outer world.

In other words, to enter this "bullet vision," one only needs to activate the Byakugan simultaneously with "Princess Kaguya" and then both enter the chakra-observation mode.

"What is this? A negative plus a negative equals a positive? The two inner worlds superimpose to become an outer world, and it even has a slowing effect?"

After experimenting with "Bullet Vision" several times, Yūki looked at his cute Stand, feeling somewhat at a loss for words.

Given this situation, it was likely that during his fight with Diavolo, he had inadvertently activated his "Byakugan" once, and "Princess Kaguya" had also activated hers simultaneously, resulting in this superimposed slow state.

However, because Yūki himself hadn't mastered the "Byakugan" ability at the time, this superimposed state of dual Byakugan lasted only a moment. His own Byakugan had automatically deactivated, leaving only "Kaguya's" Byakugan active.

Since it was a sunny afternoon, Yūki simply found an apple tree in the lush forest, sat down, and rested while thinking.

The apples overhead were ripe, looking red and very enticing.

"Bullet vision? If it can be used flexibly, it will undoubtedly be a trump card."

After sighing, Yūki tentatively looked at the leaves fluttering in the air above. Whoosh— the apples were swaying in the wind.

"Bullet Vision," activate!

Just as Yūki finished this thought and simultaneously activated the Byakugan with "Princess Kaguya," the scene before his eyes underwent another wondrous change.

The leaves on the apple tree suddenly began to flutter at an extremely slow speed, resembling a scene from a special documentary.

At that moment, a leaf was blown off the tree by the wind. But in Yūki's eyes, the leaf fell at an extremely slow pace—so slow it was almost frustrating!

Instinctively, Yūki reached out to catch the leaf but found his body movements had also become extremely slow, seemingly matching the slowed pace of the world.

When Yūki finally blinked, everything before him returned to normal. The leaf landed in his hand—everything was so harmonious.

Wait, the method to switch this seems to be...

After pondering for a moment, he glanced at the apple tree above again, and time slowed down once more.

After watching for a while, Yūki felt his eyes growing sore, so he closed them, and time resumed its normal flow.

"I see. Time slows down when the Byakugan are superimposed, and the way to exit this state is to close my eyes?"

Thus, beneath this apple tree, Yūki—having discovered he possessed this new ability—was like a child with a new toy, constantly experimenting with it.

Sometimes he widened his eyes to glance around, sometimes twisted his body simultaneously, sometimes blinked rapidly—basically, he tried every experiment related to the dual Byakugan.

After Yūki roughly figured out the general mechanics of "Bullet Vision," the sky began to darken, and his stomach growled.

Ah, it's already this late. Realizing this, Yūki stood up, stretched, went to a nearby well, made a cup from a large leaf, scooped some water, then plucked two red apples from the tree and ate them as a snack.

After half a day of repeated attempts, the information Yūki gathered about "Bullet Vision" was roughly as follows:

Activating the inner world mode with both pairs of Byakugan simultaneously triggers the "bullet vision" effect. To deactivate it, one must blink. So far, Yūki can maintain it for up to twelve seconds per activation.

The rate of time slowdown is five times. In other words, one second in reality unfolds over five seconds in Yūki's perception.

When "Bullet Vision" is active, Yūki's consciousness and thinking operate at a normal rate—meaning he has five seconds of thinking and reaction time per real-world second. However, his body speed does not change; he can still only complete actions feasible within one second.

"Bullet Vision" causes noticeable eye fatigue after repeated use. The "Byakugan" itself also induces fatigue and consumes chakra. Continuous use leads to significant accumulated fatigue, and in severe cases, may even cause temporary blindness.

"It's truly an ability with a vast gap between its floor and ceiling."

After eating the apple, Yūki brushed the dust off his clothes, stood up, and prepared to head back toward the Hyūga clan compound.

Frankly, after possessing the peculiar ability of a Stand, Yūki could quickly accept the anomaly of superimposed dual Byakugan. However, the strength of his "Bullet Vision" was somewhat nuanced.

First, it was certain that "Bullet Vision" wasn't weak—it could even be considered a very powerful ability.

Imagine two masters dueling. One uses "Bullet Vision" against their opponent. Although their movements aren't accelerated, they have five times the reaction time of their adversary. They could completely see through the opponent's next move and respond optimally.

Simply put, it's like two people playing chess: one thinks for one second per move, the other for five seconds. Unless there's a vast difference in skill, the latter has no reason to lose.

But unfortunately, in this ninja world filled with all sorts of freaks, this otherwise strong ability seemed somewhat ordinary.

For example, if someone drops a "Planetary Devastation" or a "Tailed Beast Bomb" on your head, and you lack the means to counter it, then even with five thousand times the reaction time, it'd be useless—you could only reminisce about the past...

"But since I've obtained such an interesting thing, it'd be a huge waste not to make good use of it."

After some thought, Yūki cast his gaze toward a massive building not far away, standing at the edge of Konoha Village—the place where he would spend the next several years.
