Rodrick Mormont
Abandoned Mansion on the Outskirts
Brockton Bay
Truthfully, this mutant ability might be the best gift Eternity could have given me. Sure, it's not as grand as the boost he gave one of his other Avatars, like Storm from Earth-616, but it is more than good enough. Conceptually, this power makes me a creator on the level of a god like Hephaestus.
All I have to do is decide on an idea, and it's as if the universe whispers the solution and necessary information to me, guiding my hands to achieve the goal.
Surprisingly, it comes with sub-abilities like Technopathy, which is completely overpowered in a technological civilization. I can even cosplay as one of this universe's "idiot savant" Tinkers by black-boxing my tech so it can't be easily copied or reverse-engineered. They can learn from the effects and principles, but it will never be an exact copy—not even close.
It also seems World Attunement is working overtime. My physical potential has increased so much I can't even quantify it. It's as if the ceiling of possible power I can reach has been conceptually lifted. This must be because of the Marvel universe's unreasonable feats of strength, like Sentry and the Hulk. I can tell I might never reach my full physical potential, but I'll be damned if I don't try.
The attunement has also unlocked my magic. I can feel a metaphysical nervous system spiritually layered over my real one, and in the position of my stomach is what I can only describe as a mana core. This greatly confused me, as I was led to believe most humans in this universe cannot generate magic and must draw power from other dimensions or entities. It seems Eternity did not want that and tweaked the magical awakening to grant me this legendary structure, typically held by phantasmal species like dragons, which allows for the passive and active generation and absorption of magical energy, slowly improving my reserves over time.
I don't have a frame of reference for the quantity or quality of my mana, but I can tell it's above average. Thanks to my pinnacle genius talent, I've already created two spells:
· Reinforcement: Using mana to strengthen and enhance my physique. It scales with the amount of mana used.
· Fire Snap: Creates a condensed fireball that moves at near-supersonic speeds. Snapping your finger is required for now until my mana control improves. I was inspired by Colonel Mustang's flame alchemy from FMA. It's a single-target precision attack. Sure, it's not overpowered, but against most in this world, it will get the job done.
Ever since I left the local "capes," I've been fairly busy. First, I portaled to the Netherlands and went on a nationwide stealing spree to gather materials and furniture to decorate the interior of the mansion I've appropriated here in the Bay.
I immediately started experimenting with the Forge mutant power, and I have to say this stuff is overpowered as fuck. Truthfully, even with all the Tinker products, this universe's technology isn't progressing as quickly as I believed it would. Their tech is advanced but only to a 2016 level. Sure, there are government technological leaps kept from the public, but even then, nothing is truly out of reach.
These "Tinkers" are idiot savants, not true geniuses like Stark, Reed, or Doom. Their tech breaks down easily and needs constant maintenance. They can't reverse-engineer it well—except for the one brilliant mind who calls herself Dragon. She reverse-engineers their work and makes it available to the public. Their powers basically pilot their bodies to create tech, patching it with dimensional fuckery that makes it incredibly hard to understand, as not all the necessary parts are even present.
Thankfully, I do not have that problem. When I create tech, the universe makes me understand the principles permanently, boosting my intelligence a little more each time, slowly but surely turning me into the kind of genius Stark is.
With all the tons of equipment, laptops, metals, and food I stole, I have enough to last and work with for a long time. In a single afternoon, I created a supercomputer and then proceeded to reduce it to the size of a Macbook.
Unsurprisingly, the OS used in this verse was "Dragon OS" instead of the Windows I knew. I had to build a new, more powerful one from scratch, based on what I believe are the principles of the Stark OS, Windows, and parts of Dragon OS. Sure, I could just use her system, but there's no way she didn't leave a backdoor to monitor its users, so I discarded it to be safe.
After that, I completely disconnected the mansion from the city grid to prevent anyone from monitoring the massive energy draw. I then created high-tech solar panels to power the house. I know I should have gone for something like Stark's Arc Reactor, but I simply lack the materials and precision equipment required. I'd need to gather resources to make the tools to make the tools to create it, and truthfully, I'm not that invested in it yet.
I have always believed in the power of my own body and personal abilities. This Forge power is a niche tool for me; its true use is to create machines that grant me more power or enhance what I already have.
By evening, I had created a router that taps into an internet service provider, granting me the highest possible speed with unlimited data. After connecting, I coded a few ghost applications to block information monitoring and even recreated Flappy Bird for fun, releasing it on the Dragon Appstore.
I finally settled down and started gathering information on this Earth—or should I call it Earth Bet? I was appalled by what I saw, most especially by the heroes.
These fuckers have successfully turned heroism into a job. They're super-powered cops, and not even good ones. Not to mention the unstoppable kaiju that rampage every three months, aptly named Endbringers.
· Behemoth: A thirty-foot volcanic giant with a killing aura, immunity to most energy attacks, and control over heat, plasma, and lightning. He has destroyed cities across the globe, with a kill count in the millions.
· Leviathan: His hydrokinetic brother, who has drowned and sunk cities like Kyushu and Newfoundland.
· The Simurgh: The most insidious—a giant angel-like being with monstrous telekinesis, potent precognition, and the only confirmed telepathy on the planet. She creates plots that unfold over years, leading to governments quarantining any city she attacks for fear of her "Simurgh bombs."
Except for me, of course. Blank for the win. Truthfully, she is both my best and worst matchup.
I proceeded to research the heroes and villains, learning about their premier team, the Triumvirate, who I believe could take me out as I am now. It would be a hard fight, but that guy, Eidolon, is so fucking hack. He's like this universe's Legion, even if he's more restrained by how many powers he can use at once.
After reading through everything, I've concluded that I can't save this world on my own, nor can I depend on the local heroes to do it. From the complaints on PHO, they simply don't have the strength to compete with whatever threat Eternity sent me here to handle.
I closed my laptop and sighed deeply. I need to establish myself as a rogue first; I would never willingly place myself under the control of anyone who isn't high on the cosmic scale.
I'll need a team and a lot of help from heavy hitters. Luckily, I know where to find them: the X-Men and the Avengers.
It will take months to accurately locate a suitable dimension containing them and travel there, but for now…
Let's rampage a bit in this city. I'll probably hit the resident Nazis hard and have a good fight against the ever-growing dragon, Lung.
Damn, I've become a battle junkie, haven't I?
